Eggs - A Change of Heart
MamaTo3inNH replied to BaileyBariatrics's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
I have, my whole life, despised eggs. I won't cook them for the family, I hate having to use them in a recipe, and I won't order food like French toast out at a restaurant because odds are you can taste the egg the bread was soaked in. I read somewhere that your tastes can change, often drastically, after surgery. All my past diet attempts eggs would have been a perfect food, I'm hoping post op I will like eggs. Im only 4 days out now so I have a ways To go but I can't wait to give them a try -
Did they feed me too much?
MamaTo3inNH replied to MamaTo3inNH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My stuff was very strictly served! I was surprised. It came marked on the kids of each bowl how much was inside, and also on my food delivery form it said "gbi" or "gbii" and had listed exactly what was on my tray including #of carbs, and total volume -
I feel like they fed me too much in the hospital... 24 hours post op I was ice Water on sponge only. Then I got: 3tsp high Protein broth, 2tsp low sugar juice & 3tbsp sugar free Jello. Today I had one "GBII" meal before discharge: 2oz high protein broth and 2oz protein supplement with a dash of sugar free pudding. I was also offered a snack later (because my hubby got stuck at work and was late getting me) and they gave me 4oz vanilla carnation Breakfast made with skim milk, and then a school sized carton of skim milk. I drank the CIB but didn't touch the carton I was stuffed. At no point was I stuffed. I wasn't hungry, per se, I just ate because they gave it to me. But now I'm worried I just stretched my pouch!

Did they feed me too much?
MamaTo3inNH replied to MamaTo3inNH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh thank god lol!! My supplements are held off til my 10 day follow up. The only thing I need to take is the acid prevention. Actually he said for the first 10 days my main focus is to be on Water, not food! Crazy how different diets are huh? Thanks friends! -
When is your surgery scheduled for? When do you start your pre-op diet? What does your surgeon require for pre-op diet?

Surgery tomorrow!
MamaTo3inNH replied to MamaTo3inNH's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm doing as well as can be expected. So far I have used: underwear, slippers, tooth stuff, tampons, lotion, phone & charger with extension cord, spirometer and heating pad and that's it. I can barely keep my eyes open! They won't allow me to take the gas x or zicam, they are providing the acid reducer. If you have any questions I can try and answer for you -
I'm heading in for my RNY tomorrow morning and I've got a few questions maybe y'all can help me? I'll be in the hospital til midday Wednesday. Will I be lucid enough to get bored, and if so should I bring my laptop with some dvd's/watch Netflix? Will I physically be up to showering Tuesday morning? /surgeon notes say I can shower whenever I feel up to it/ Did you actually get dressed or just stay in hospital gowns? I got dressed when I was in the hospital for my c sections but I had visitors. I won't be seeing anybody while im there. I think that's it TIA!!

I had a sleep study

I snore. REALLY BADLY! Like a beaver chopping wood my husband says. I don't have apnea or any other problems and my GP says it's likely because I am overweight. I hope surgery cures it. Has anyone else been "cured" of snoring after losing a lot of weight?

Surgery tomorrow!
MamaTo3inNH replied to MamaTo3inNH's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm done packing my bag, here's what im taking: 3 pair underwear (for tomorrow after surgery if they don't let me keep on what I have, Tuesday and Wednesday) One pair fuzzy socks One pair slippers (sketchers memory foam ones - sturdy enough for outside walking) Heating pad Tampons, shower stuff, teeth stuff, stretchy headband, lotion, lip stuff Laptop & earbuds Phone charger & extension cord Gas-x strips, spirometer (given to me at pre op appt), my omeprazole, zicam melts, Benadryl (I've still got this damn cold) I'm not bringing any clothes to wear while in there and will wear home what I wore there. I'll check back and let you know how I'm doing and what I used or wished I had! -

Plain yogurt = *gag*... Help!
MamaTo3inNH replied to MamaTo3inNH's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I bought two sugar free creamers at the grocery store - sweet Italian cream and hazelnut. Haven't tried either of them yet but they have a far off expiration date and were BOGO so I grabbed them -
I have to get some plain yogurt today. Either kind (Greek or regular) will definitely make me gag, and mixing in baby food fruits or applesauce doesn't help. Has anyone ever mixed in flavored Protein powder? I'm nervous it will be some gross consistency? I don't want to test it out and pitentially waste it all. How do you spice up your yogurts? NUT said extracts are ok as well. Anyone use those?

Thanks ladies!! I guess I'll bring my tampons for after surgery and *hope* they let me leave it in for the surgery although a few hours without it, if the flow isn't really here yet, shouldn't make a big mess :/ I'm getting RNY

Costco Premier premixed
MamaTo3inNH replied to MamaTo3inNH's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Wow, I'm surprised! I think they are quite watery... Goes to show how subjective taste truly is! I have body fortress, it's pretty good. I mix with skim milk -
Hubby isn't behind my choice
MamaTo3inNH replied to MamaTo3inNH's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I sure will, thanks for the encouragement -
He isn't behind my choice to have surgery. RNY scheduled for Monday. Everyone told me not to worry, he will come around. Well I've been going through this process for over a year now, had my surgery date for 3 months and still nothing. I'm really F&$!;@@... I have 3 kids (12 8 &3) and he has Monday off for the holiday, is working from home on Tuesday (I will be in hospital) and took Wednesday off (my pick up day, figure I will need him to run and get meds and stuff)... Thursday and Friday he's working from home and really thinks I am not going to need his help at all. I say "well you will just be downstairs if I need help you can come up and make lunch for the baby or if she needs help in the potty" he says we'll have to see. From everything I've been reading im likely going to be stoned Thursday and Friday! In no condition to mind her! I'm freaking the hell out. Any words of wisdom?
