Frozen meals - lean cuisine weight watchers...
MamaTo3inNH replied to MamaTo3inNH's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
The thing is meats still make me gag. No matter how much sauce I slather them up in and how small the bites are. I don't do eggs. I'm kind of cottage cheesed out, and yogurts are making me gag (the sweetness) and the plain ones are bitter im SO LOST for foods to get my Protein in. That's why I got these. One of them is lean cuisine four cheese rigatoni. No meat in it. 15g protein. I used to love chicken breast pre-op... I'd eat it 5-6 nites a week. I NEVER dreamed I would have a problem post op Hopefully it will pass, because I'm seriously running out of ideas. Today for lunch and dinner I had 4 slices of fresh mozzarella (8 grams of protein each meal) drizzled with vinegarette and three triscuts crackers. Thankfully I'm a creature of habit and CAN stick to one or two things that I really like. But my taste buds are changing by the day and im stressing out about it. I have a half case of Premier Protein premixed and the mere smell of it makes me gag now. Sorry I'm totally ranting. I just didn't think it would be so hard for me to get my protein in, kwim? -
My uncle, a surgical RN agreed, said maybe pain meds causing some rash as well. Anesthesia and fluids do weird things to your body.
-
I had one from under my boobs to under my belly button starting about a week after surgery. At my 10 day check up the nurses said bumpy rash is common after surgery - it's the anesthesia and fluids working their way out of our systems

this is dumb but my biggest question is...
MamaTo3inNH replied to Katie Loesch-Meyer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lived on ice chips for the whole day after surgery! That and these little sponges soaked in Water to swish around my mouth and keep it wet -
You literally won't know what happened. As I was being wheeled towards OR they injected a calm down med into my IV, and before I realized what was going on I was waking up in recovery ~RNY 1.19.15

Need a quick answer.

My weight loss shows in my face but nowhere else yet be patient it will fall off before you know it! ~RNY 1.19.15 -
I feel actual hunger every now and then, but for the most part it's head hunger. I can't stomach many foods... They make me want to vomit (the taste or texture - not like dumping or anything like that) I get the majority of my Protein from shakes and Protein Bars. ~RNY 1.19.15

I'd be happy at 8/10. I carry my weight well... When I met surgeon for my pre op visit he was surprised at my weight, said he never would have guessed lol.

When can I start taking Advil again? I'm 1 month out from RNY. My cramps are killing me, and I took two extra strength tylenols not even three hours ago. Helped for a split second :/
-
Are almonds not ok? I'm a month post op with RNY. It's the only new thing I ate today and have terrible diarrhea
-
I'm on the all clear food list - I can eat whatever i want, with a few exceptions (celery, stringy foods, Untoasted breads)... I just have to chew well. I wasn't sure if dat content was too high, even tho it's good fat

Wow everyone's experiences are so different!! I take Advil 2 tablets 3 times a day for 3 days a month. (And take 2 Midol 3 times a day for 3 days a month) otherwise I literally vomit from the pain of my cramps. I managed this month by taking my pain meds from surgery and Midol. I was in bed for 3 days, but didn't vomit. Thanks for everyone's input

IMVVVVHO, I don't understand why people would opt for the sleeve over bypass. Bypass is the gold standard for a reason. It's the most effective. Unless you have an aversion to taking vitamins for the rest of your life, go big or go home - bypass for the win

I just got off the phone with my surgeons office. I wanted to know if I could take Midol (it contains tylenol, caffeine and an antihistamine)... She said yes but to up my Fluid by 24oz each day I take it because the caffeine will dehydrate me. I was also told that I can take Advil again starting at two months out! I'm SO RELIEVED!! I have a message in to my GP to have her call in tylenol with codene for me. I used to take it for my cramps, but got tired of being wiped out from it that upon recommendation of my hairdresser (and ok from my GP) I switched to alternating Advil and Midol every 4 hours for three days during my period. I get cramps so severely I end up vomiting usually. I'd rather take the sleepy-meds than vomit, obviously. Surgeon said to stick with the tylenol with codene til month 5-6 if I feel like I will be taking the max daily dose of Advil for 3 days a month, as that's a bit harsh on my new pouch. But a couple a day isn't awful, and better than vomiting. Thanks for the replies

Can I take Zzz Quil?
MamaTo3inNH replied to Crystal88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Liquid zzzzzquil also has alcohol in it, I would recommend just buying plain old Benadryl and taking 3 about an hour before you want to fall asleep. Much cheaper, nothing unnecessary (alcohol or sugar) and just as effective. -
Ready to Stop Crushing
MamaTo3inNH replied to willyumyum's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor told me at my two week check up that I didn't have to crush anymore. -
I had surgery at 9:30am and was walking around 9pm. I went home after 3 days, went to the grocery store (not alone!) for a few things at 7 days.
-
LOL!! Mine too.
-
Inhad reflux pre-surgery, and my surgeon absolutely will not, under any circumstance, do sleeve or band on Someone with anything worse than the occasional heartburn from spicey foods. I wouldn't risk it.
-
They usually do it in the OR - sterile field and all. They took mine out the morning after my surgery, so it was only in about 24 hours... I wouldn't worry about getting an infection - I very prone to UTI. All it takes is one roll in the hay with me on top and my pee stings like crazy by the next day
-
If I could talk to myself back when I first started realizing that dieting wouldn't work long term for me I would absolutely do surgery! If your folks are on board, your REAL friends will be there for you before, during and after!! You will always be able to go out with them - you will just eat differently than you do now: smaller bites and you'll have leftovers Good luck with whatever you choose!!

Thanks for all of your tips and suggestions!!! I actually got a turkey sandwich on white toast with mayo (real turkey breast, not deli) ... I ate most of the turkey, a few bites of the bread, a half a pickle and two potato chips. Yummy!!!
