Hi Everyone! My name is Shirl and I will have Sleeve Surgery on December 15, 2014. I had a stroke 5 years ago, but I've been improving. It's amazing how faith in God and my brain can have a positive effect on me. Only problem is that I take 4 different kinds of high blood pressure medication, potassium, cholestrol medicine, and a few more. I gained a lot of weight and I do not want another stroke. It all started with a doctor who I saw for a hip replacement. The stroke made the arthritis in my hip worse. That doctor told me that he could do it, but it would be so much better to get my weight under control. I went to my regular doctor and he referred me to Dr. Vierra's office. Dr. Chang is going to do my surgery. I am having nightmares now that I lost all kinds of weight and I gained it back and more, with all the problems. I suppose this apprehension is normal. I hope I can get off these meds. That's the main objective. Losing the weight and feeling better are the advantages in all this. By reading what a lot of you posted, it's a lifelong commitment to a better you and a healthy way of eating and exercise. Any comments, tips, warnings are welcome. Oh, right now it's hard to get water down because I easily choke on it and start having a coughing fit. Anyone have any suggestions how to get 64oz a day down? :)
