I am about 1 year into menopause and my monthly migraines left with "Aunt Flo" - LOL. The waking up sweating is a bit more frequent so I may look into your remedy Djmohr - sleeping in a wet spot sucks!

like others have mentioned you really need to check with your doctor. both are high in carbs and sugar I eat them occasionally - peanut butter is a life long fav for me

My hubby has been nothing but supportive and I feel bad for the OP that do not have a supportive SO. I was blessed to have both of my husbands (current and now deceased ex) have always supported anything I did to improve my health. So my marriage like others who also posted has stayed strong and our physical relationship has also reaped the benefits of me losing over 100lbs.

I got snarky responses for the "bless your heart" reference on a post concerning the blatant ignorance of some folks in regards to their doctors orders. So here goes again, "bless their hearts" And she knows who she is (snarky poster), I blocked her.

I weigh usually daily just to keep my head in the game. I am officially a vet today as I am 18 months post and about 15lbs from my dream weight. I check in but quit posting for a while as I was frustrated with the mindset of some folks about how some of us respond. Glad to see Jenn is still checking in. I miss some that don't check in at all anymore :/

How does age affect success and weight loss rate

@@Aggiemae - you are exactly right you will benefit from what you put into your surgery (tool). -
My buyers remorse came and went within about 2-3 hrs on the Friday after I had my surgery on Wednesday. I was really blessed with no post surgery issues. I think for most of us it's the coping with life, minus food. I remember thinking what have I done? I can't go get my stomach out of the biohazard bin at the hospital :/ Then sanity kicked in and I remembered WHY I chose to get the surgery. My health. My beautiful grandchildren......my husband and children......ME! Tomorrow will be 18 months post-op and down over 100lbs. No Regrets!

@@Babbs - hello friend. I will be a vet in about 35min, can't wait to join the ranks. Like Babbs said I also ate a small piece of turkey had some broccoli and a spoon or two of dressing. Never wanted dessert

@@Mandat89 call and make sure what is and isn't covered and who you can see for a surgeon. IMO if you have a great rapport with your surgeon the better the outcome.

Preteen with growing weight problem
jane13 replied to Chicken Lady's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Just to clarify my earlier post: My adult son (30 y/o) is a registered nurse, and weighs close to 300lbs, and has known about my WLS surgery and we have discussed in detail over the past 2 years about my journey (the pre-WLS and post-WLS stories). I think, if he openly asks me about my journey then I can inquire about his plans for getting healthier. He says he is eating healthier - I didn't see it. He has been telling us for over a year that he has been eating better, but he is steadily gaining. I have 5 kids - 2 have never had a weight problem and 3 have fought their weight (like their mom). Two have managed to do pretty good with their weight. This son seems to struggle and I don't think talking openly about my WLS is preaching. When he asks me questions and I answer, I think it opens the door for me to ask him somequestions as well as long as it is a private conversation. He doesn't date and lives alone and rarely socializes. I have never put my kids on a diet, fat shamed them, etc. I had family who DISCUSSED my weight, and one still does, at every get together when I was growing up. I told my beloved Aunt and Uncle that I weigh 175lbs, so either accept me as is...or don't. He has stopped as of the last visit. I just want my son to really look at himself. I know at 282lbs I didn't think I was that heavy until I looked at pictures later and thought OMG, I was really bigger than I thought. Maybe I am the ONLY person who didn't SEE myself as heavy as I was pre-WLS or I would have done something a lot earlier (maybe at 225lbs, instead of 280). I just want him healthy. -

Preteen with growing weight problem
jane13 replied to Chicken Lady's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
ok.....Here we go. how should I address a large weight gain with my adult son? he is an RN and is over 250lbs. he seems to eat quite a bit of fast food. hubby says he is a nurse he knows how what to do...son says he is eating less carbs. he had a 12pack of diet 7up he brought to the house on the first night and take out from hardees and snacked on stuff like Graham crackers. we were surviving hurricane matthew and son stayed over since he had no power at his house. I see him about every 3-4 months. he asks me about my WLS and I have been tempted to mention his weight gain. -
NOT WHAT I EXPECTED IT TO LOOK LIKE
jane13 replied to Womanvsmirror's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@Womanvsmirror you need to really look at yourself and include how you feel I that assessment you are also under 5 ft and I think, in general, you will probably "see" skinny in the 135 lb range or less. I am 5'8" and at 175ish I feel pretty good but would feel skinny closer to 150... just my opinion. -

sleeved at 52, no regrets except that I wish I had done it sooner!!!! I am not textbook...I like to drink wine, but I behave and I love feeling like a human being. People acknowledge me, I am no longer ignored strictly because of my weight. I am very opinionated and out spoken, a b*tch, Jane

One month out, haven't lost weight in three weeks! (HELP)
jane13 replied to kcolley12345's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it takes a bit for your body to recover from surgery, you also are not as heavy as most of us, so don't compare or you will go nuts. hydrate, eat your protein, keep moving...patience. -
Pre-op diet cranky pants.

All pretty typical...warn your family/friends. It gets better -
There is a reason for the pre-op, so please stay on track for your health and safety. If you are still a few days pre-op then get back up on the wagon and stay on program. I can tell you that post-op is more intense because you are healing so cheating then can have painful/serious complications. just sayin' 16 plus months post-op...down over 100lbs, jane
