  1. I am too new to give you a long term opinion. I was 'born a loser' on May 6th. I am three weeks on the other side. I haven't had any big issues other than trying to drink enough. Follow what your doctor tells you to the letter. I hope you get thru this and get the diabetes under control. I was headed that way. My A1C got to 5.6 and weight wasn't going away and I decided on my own to pursue the WLS. Wished I had done this a couple of years ago (the sleeve). I didn't want to RNY and I had the option of either lap-band or sleeve. I made the right choice for me!
  2. I decided to see if my insurance would pay for of the bariatric Protein stuff and went on-line and applied to see if I qualified. They called me and asked some questions which I answered. Then they called again, and again. Then they started emailing - saying they needed to get a couple of questions answered. I called them today and she said BEFORE they can send off for approval they want to know if I want to try these new products - why did I apply???? I filled out what I was interested in, before I had surgery. I was getting a phone call on my cell about every two to three days. I cant answer my phone at work. I told her today when they asked me about another new item BEFORE they can send off for approval to just REMOVE me from their records, I will buy my own stuff - Jeez. Sorry - had to vent, it is like telephone solicitors that you cant trace a number to block }:I

    1-2 ounces

not a big difference really and the more you can drink to stay hydrated the better you will feel. I am not as tired (post-op 3wks tomorrow).
  4. @@wannaBthinsoon - I cant be sure but that was what my husband thinks it is, kind of bitter. Never have liked their coffee :/
  5. I have starting hiccupping, not every time but about twenty to thirty minutes after I have stopped eating, I hiccup - usually once.

    2 weeks post op

what exactly are you eating? I am almost 3 weeks out and when I start to get that sensation I spit out what I am chewing and stop. I am full. I haven't thrown up yet. You may be full:D

    New Clothes?

@@LisaLouBop - I am only down about 1 size and I plan to do the same thing - get the larger ones out of the house!
  11. in the hospital it was only decaf coffee and tea. I haven't been forbidden to have reg coffee, just in moderation and with only sugar free extras. I drink mine black & strong, unless it is cracker barrel and I add anything I can find to get the taste more to my liking. I think it may have chicory or something added.

@@youngmilf - I totally get the pic thing (naked or not). I didn't have any pain post op but I have heard its painful and I would like to possibly do my stomach and get the "girls" back to a normal area. I have always been chesty and my one GF's first question was post-op for the sleeve was "what about your boobs?" I couldn't believe it! She is almost as chesty and has a belly to rest hers on too! Love her, but really.....thought a sister wouldn't asked more about my new tummy :/

    Help with app

I haven't tried the pic thing but to add a ticker I only clicked on the top where it says " Hello Jane 13" and hit tickers and started adding info. Not my thing, computers...

Does your insurance require a referral? You may need that from your PCP. If it doesn't I would contact your insurance provider and find out what the problem is now before you get slapped with unnecessary charges. Check the insurance forum there, they may have more answers to your specific insurance provider.

    June 12 - Dr Cunneen

Whens your new "birthday"? Remember this is only a tool and if you follow your doctors orders you will be fine. Hydrate and relax. We are waiting here on the losers bench and we have a spot here with your name on it
  16. I haven't had this kind of pain but if you do not get results today and the pain continues or gets worse go to the ER. keep us posted, so we know what you find out!
  17. No Protein? You can still get some protein with clear liquids. If you feel like the liquid is getting stuck I would recommend slowing down, you may be full. I get mild tightness in my throat and STOP drinking or eating. I do belch more, but that's it. Its weird to open the refrigerator and go "Hmmm, yep, not hungry". Are you getting enough fluids? I asked that question and even my NUT said not enough Water will make you feel tired. I am doing much better now - still a little sluggish but not like before. You may want to time yourself doing the liquids and make sure you are over doing it. hang in there - it will get better!

    I feel so alone

I had my husband go with me and ask questions when we met with the surgeon. He has been super supportive. He has made a few jokes about getting thinner and how men will start hitting on me and I make sure he knows that HE is who I want. he has loved me through THICK and THIN (I was thinner at one time). He has actually dropped a few pounds on this journey with me.
  19. None that I have heard of other than not drinking 30 minutes before or after eating. If you are able to drink a gallon of Water that's awesome. I did that years ago and dropped weight like crazy. FYI after surgery you cant drink until you do the "leak test" and it was about 36 hours before I had something to drink. Surgical nurse said I could drink up until midnight before surgery I was the first one at 7:30. I woke up on my own about 11:45 and drank as much as I could and went back to sleep. Post surgery I was told leak test would be first thing next morning (NOT!), it was almost noon. I was about to go nuts thinking about drinking something....anything.....licking the condensation off the windows (hot here in Florida and A/C was running) was a thought };]

    New here

welcome and hydrate and drink as much water as possible as long as you can the night before surgery - I hated not being able to drink anything waiting for the leak test. To me it was the worst. I was one of the lucky ones... no pain post-op or nausea. I have had good ride so far with very minimal "issues". My sleeve is my new bestie and I plan on treating her very good

    Tomorrows consultation

maybe one day I will be hoping for one too - I will cross my fingers, eyes and toes for you! Tough day at work for me trying to work all crossed (fingers, eyes, & toes) though! Let us know what the results are so we can cheer you on. I heard the recovery is a B*TcH.

    Pre-Op Stress

You may also want to avoid salt and hydrate. The laxative may only mess your intestines up and do nothing. I wouldn't panic. Do you weigh in clothed or in your birthday suit ? Maybe you can call and hop on theirs and see how far off your scale is at home compared to theirs. If your weight is a BIG concern for them talk to them today on the phone or when you go by and weigh~ Being a scale junkie is bad (I am a card toting member) and you need to remember you will in general weigh more in the morning than in the afternoon. And as a female, the visit from "Aunt Flo", whether you have one at not (menopause) can add a little water weight.

    No fluids with food

I was told 30 before and after but I find I cant swallow some foods after chewing, and chewing, so I sip enough water to get my mouth wet. I usually drink maybe a eighth of a cup of water while eating. I have a lot of leftovers!
  24. @@NoBsVs I feel the same way and like you I have had (so far) a pretty easy surgery and recovery. When was your surgery??? May 2000? I know this is only a tool and I am using my tool for life!

    Insomnia?

I have been fighting insomnia off and on for about the past ten years. I think mine is stress and menopause. I also think my sleep is affected by the cycle of the moon. Don't laugh - I have noticed if the moon is close to full or full I am lucky to sleep a couple of hours... I haven't had much luck with melatonin. Nyquil does the trick but I don't like relying on it for sleep and if I take it I NEED sleep about 8hrs or I am not productive.
