  1. @@sharonintx is right - the food bill will drop and you could probably afford it if you can get it financed. Good luck. I live in Florida and have BCBS federal employee and it was covered. No issues.

    Damn scale!

@@ladivaluz806 we have almost the same stats and I have been battling with 238-240 past couple of days...so aggravating.

    Stall

I think it is different for everyone as far as when you stall or how long. stay the course and maybe mix it up a smidgen with a few more calories and water.
  4. I didn't have issues with pre-op diet but I have been having trouble post-op. they told me miralax. it didn't do much except cause gas and cramping. post-op requires Iron and was told to quit taking iron supplement and things have finally started to move, plus I am eating more veggies now. I had also added Fiber, forgot to mention that too. I have stopped adding it for now.

    Spouse involvement

I too have a VERY supportive hubby and I cannot imagine NOT having him support me. This is a life long decision. Adult son at home is supportive as well.

    A good hurt...

that's a great idea - maybe I can talk hubby into a bike ride

    Pill crushing

I was told I could not swallow anything larger than a plain M&M (chocolate, great example, that melts in your mouth - not in your hands!). I break my BP & Citracal petites in half. the rest are smaller or chewable. No gummies.
  8. for a bit yes - I am almost five weeks out and I am not able to eat a lot 8 - 10 (small fork) and then I am done (maybe 1/2 cup). The variety of more foods is nice and I don't want to waste my "bites" to junk :/

    Phentermine

I took it about 5 years ago and never adapted to the jittery feeling and heart racing - mine went in the trash.
  10. staying hydrated, for me, is hard to do. I am not allowed to have a drink in my work area.

    Almost time T- 2 hours

Good Luck and let us know as soon as you can how you are doing. I hear the same thing when people find out how much I weigh. I am tired of dragging the extra weight and adding to it to where I cannot function.

    Food day @ work...HELP

@@crazyffhfan I gave into my temptation and bought pizza a couple of Fridays ago on the way home from work. I am 4weeks 2 days out and haven't had it since March and thought "just one thin slice..." well, I got thin crust and the narrowest strip and took a bite and....nothing. I chewed it and then tried a couple of more bites. Ate about 3 and spit one out. I had my "moment" and I am over it. @2bullymom - throw it in the trash.

@@kmefaith - I broke my stall yesterday morning (1 week) I added a few more calories and Protein for the last couple of days and it looks like the scale is moving again!

    Three Months Out

I have been lucky too with not having major issues with food and recovery. Sounds like you have it going pretty good. I plan to do the same eat smarter and live.
  21. @@courtcourt90 - research and talk to your doctor he/she may decide for you. Reading here on both forums will give you some insight into someone's personal experience but we all are affected differently by the same surgery. All in all - WLS is a TOOL - you can use it the right way or not, you have to live with the results.

    STEVIA SWEETENER

    I decided I wouldn't do either. I didn't like the taste

    Pre op weight

@@sugabear44 - give yourself sometime and try to stay off the scale. stay hydrated and on program - it will catch up.
  24. @@LipstickLady - I feel the same way about "bold and flavorful" choices I find that if it doesn't have a bold (strong) taste or flavorful (spicy or seasoned) I just don't see the point. So I don't eat it.

    August sleevers

@@perk4756 depends on your insurance requirements unless you are self pay. after I completed the required BCBS Fed stuff I got approval letter in the mail and was in surgery within the next 30 days. I had to schedule a pre-surgery appointment. I opted to wait one week as well.
