My First Appt TODAY!
jane13 replied to thingirlinsideme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
if you can put your questions in your phone that may be a good idea as well - I am so absent minded sometimes I would probably leave the list! -
I was told to wear home what I wore in (I checked in at 5am) and to not bring PJs (just a robe). I asked about slippers and they said they preferred patients to wear the non-skid footies they provide. Pillow to ride home with I would recommend. The bumps may be rough even with the gentlest driver. you will want to hold it to your tummy.

<sliding over>.....got you a spot (pointing down to seat) here on the LOSERS bench! let us know that you are ok when you can -

So I have to say it... Going all day without a "piece of cake" is really, JUST a piece of cake, right? I made a comment yesterday on here about icing on the cake or something like that, funny...we just can't get away from the foods that are bad

Congrats!

Drink/eat simultaneously? Question...
jane13 replied to bigfatgoodbye's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I will sip a drink at a meal if what I have chewed and chewed and chewed is so dry it hurts to swallow. I have chewed some stuff that felt like it GREW in my mouth and when I swallow it feels like it sticks in the back of my throat. I sip, a small amount, and move on. I have spit it onto a napkin too. -
Last day of Pre- op diet
jane13 replied to JosieAppleHead's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@JosieAppleHead My hubby likes to eat out and we do regularly Breakfast Sat & Sun and Tues & Sat night. he has been wonderful and I asked him how he felt about ordering a la carte and maybe sharing a spoonful of eggs, etc. He is losing weight and we are saving money eating out. Longhorn he gets the redrock shrimp (2 skewers of 4), broccoli (in place of rice) a steak and loaded baked potato. I get the broccoli & 4 shrimp and it costs us nothing extra. I bring the liquid SF lemonade and add to Water or unsweetened tea. Huddle house is usually breakfast and I get an egg scrambled and a little of the ham he orders and a cup of black coffee. -
A funny thing happened this morning.
jane13 replied to Stevehud's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
@@Stevehud - what a great NSV! I had a similar one yesterday. I work where I can wear shorts and a company shirt. Because I refused to buy bigger shorts I have just worn the same ones. I also recently just moved into my new house. I just found and started wearing clothes I haven't worn since before WLS on May 6th. I couldn't keep the stretchy things up - no drawstrings to adjust either. I was so pumped! Those went straight to the trash! -
Weight Watchers Post Surgery
jane13 replied to Capricornrose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Capricornrose - weight watchers is an excellent program and just for socially being with people who are striding towards the same goals is plenty reason to join. The fact that you weigh in and can't fudge is why I did it. I tried the on-line thing but I need accountability and if there was a meeting closer to the house I would probably join (again). I have been doing WW of and on again for probably 20plus years. -
A little over two years out and thrown right back into my fat days...
jane13 replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
@@LipstickLady I know you realize he probably was trying to compliment you but just SUCKED at it, right? Maybe you should have guessed out loud how much he weighed, "So, John, you weigh what - 180lbs?" and Before he can answer turn to his wife and say "want to lose about 180lbs of dead weight?" -
@@Kasey85 No just bought one at gas station - actually an throw-a-way (Arizona vapor water) - just seems to be a good size for me to finish in about three hours. It just helps me to realize what I have (or have not) drank today and kind of pushes me <gently> and hopefully will eliminate trying to get more Water in when I get home. Which means multitude of trips to the bathroom sometimes later at night.

@@AnA92212 - I was sleeved 5 weeks 1 day ago and have been having same problem with getting fluids in. I have decided to drink a water bottle I have (25oz) on the way to work, refill & drink before break 3 hours later & again before lunch. that would put me at 75oz before 11am. The last bottle I am going to try to finish before I go home and anything after would be a bonus. It is working so far
-
@ - I am starting to look at the clock and make sure after 20 minutes I just stop eating, period. I am pretty much full by then. I am trying to get atleast 100oz of Water in daily. I have a smaller water bottle (25oz) and I started yesterday trying to drink it completely on the way to work. Once I get here I re-fill it and try to finish it by break (3hrs later-8am), re-fill and finish by lunch (3hrs-11am) and one more before I leave. That would put me at 100oz and hopefully I won't be making potty trips all night and any water AFTER that is icing (low calorie) on the cake!

Well...got the senior scheduled for this Saturday!

I felt the same way and made the leap~ best wishes -
I hit a stall for a week (week 3 post), lost a couple of pounds and it looks like I have hit another stall. Today I am 5 weeks 1 day out....
-
@ when I did my follow up the doctor said two meals a day should be plenty and if I was hungry in between (not thirsty - drink first and wait to see if you are hungry) then I could have fresh fruit or veggie. he basically said by leaving one meal out I would burn up more stored fat and reduce calories at this point. I was also told to spend about 20 minutes eating and then stop, period.

6 days postop: parental issues
jane13 replied to likelike's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with @ maybe its time for them to get their own place. If they live their rent-free they should be able to help somewhat and it seems they cant do that to terribly well. I don't get people like that, young or old. -
ok girls, anyone have hair loss anywhere OTHER than your head?

@@Kasey85 - I have felt a bit "foggy" and realized I haven't ate in a 16 hour window<eat dinner around six and not again until 10 am next morning> I felt kind of out of it and realized I hadn't had anything but Water and my body was sending me a signal... I am 5 weeks out today.

Today is my day -- surgery in 3 hours!
jane13 replied to HealthyJudy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
if you cant sleep get on-line and let us know you are ready for your seat on the losers bench! Nursing staff was continuously checking about every hour which made no sense since they were monitoring BP, oxygen and heart down at station and hubby even said it was ridiculous. nice if I was in trouble but I was trying to sleep at 1:15, 2;00, 2:45.... -
June 8th sleeve...things no one told me
jane13 replied to work2Bskinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
walk and take the meds for the nausea. I had tachycardia (rapid heart rate, prob due to anesthesia) and stayed late the following day but after doctor made sure I had nothing else going on I got to go home. Take care and keep us posted! welcome to the losers bench! -
I can blame WLS for my moods!?!?!?! I am the only female in the house and I hear the "M-word" (I am old, menopause) a lot I will correct them as soon as I get home ;D
