    I was approved!

start hydrating as much as possible and if you can get on path to prepping for the pre-op diet if needed. some doctors require a certain amount of weight loss. some insurances will deny if you lose too much - check into that

@@armiller - to be honest I was both tired and at times grouchy the first couple of days. I felt sleep deprived and was ready to get to past the clear liquid stage.

@@JamieLogical - wish I had you for a younger sister twenty years ago...cool that you AND your hubby are OK with it.
  10. Darn, and I just threw my daisy dukes in the trash!
  11. that is what I did. Only told employer off-handedly that while I was off the Wed-Fri & following week on vacation that I was having elective surgery. I wasnt going to tell them anything but dr office wanted FMLA paperwork and that started the questions. I had surgery Wednesday (first in!) and went home Thursday evening. I was sleepy Friday. I didn't get much sleep because of the nurses checking on me Wednesday night so I enjoyed sleeping in Friday morning. I couldve been back at work Monday. I have a desk job where I can get up and walk if needed and my co-worker is awesome and he knew the whole story. he said, "don't lift, I got it!"
  12. @@Babbs - thanks for reminding me that I need to just keep plugging along at MY pace. I had surgery 7 weeks ago. I started my journey back in Nov and at one point since then (when?) I remember weighing 282 on my home scale. I didn't want to write it down, because I couldn't believe how big I was getting. I actually backed out of WLS in Dec and decided in mid- January to do it. Maybe it was then when I saw the 282 that did it.... At my 3 NUT visits we weighed in - she couldn't provide the weight I remember which was 266. I know for a fact I was around low 270s/upper 260s. Today at 230 - its 36 lbs gone! @@JamieLogical - sorry if I confused you. Hopefully my response to Babbs cleared it up. Its been a long week.

@@ashley126 - lipbalm! you are going to be sooooo thirsty if you had to wait almost 30hrs to drink for the leak test!
  15. I did share with some people and now after I get the compliment (which is awesome) they want to know how many pounds I get the "oh, well just keep working at it and I am sure you will lose more...." response. I haven't lost as fast as others and I feel like I am considered a failure to not have lost 60lbs by now. At one time I hit 282 (HW), I managed to lose some before I got weighed in again and started in the upper 260s/lower 270s. I feel a lot better and I am pretty much losing 1-2 a week...and at 52, it is probably best.
  16. I am 7 weeks today and thought I would be a bit closer to 200, but I will take the loss that I have so far and strive to get more Water in and less carbs! Thanks for sharing, you and I are neck and neck at the 230ish range
  17. I asked the surgeon about the hair loss and he looked at me and said I wouldn't notice it. My hair is curly (used to be thick until about 10 years ago) and now I have a lot of grey hair. Doc said if I wasn't losing some. hair (and tired) then I wasn't working the program. He said most feel tired and some lose hair if they are working the program because the body goes into shock because of the dramatic change in diet. Makes sense. Just sucks. My husband had no idea about either post surgical side effect and was surprised at both the questions and answers. It was THE only two I had - hair loss & lack of energy.

    At Last!

@@leag78 - YEAH!!!!! <happy dancing for you> I am trying to break the 220s.....keep hovering on electronic scale 230, 230.5, 230, 230.5...I don't count it until I get it steadily the number. I do that by stepping off and on the darn thing in about a 20 min period first thing in the morning before I get dressed for work. I still JUMP off if I think my hubby can see the NuMbErS!!! Funny how a "scale junkies" mind works....

    Did everyone have a drain?

no prior abdominal surgery, no drain. I did get a catheter and I was glad when they removed it. I had a tremendous urge to "relieve" myself.

    Virus has hit me

I had a touch of a flu bug about two weeks pre-opt but it cleared up about 72 hours later. stay in touch with your doctor and stay hydrated. Follow their directions and keep us posted -

    Unexpected sneezing

I get a hic-cup or two generally after eating. I read about it and thank goodness they don't last. If that's the ONLY issue I have, I will take it. So far it has been a smooth ride....I would like to lose more but I will take a 1-2 lb loss every week
