Excited Newbie 2 days to surgery

Singapore and WLS! That's a lot of changes - good luck and keep posting. Let us know when you get out of surgery. Happy EARLY Re-Birthday!
  2. @@jengilligan - that has been my fear. When did you start losing your hair? has it started coming back in?

    Feeling left out

@@need change - start cooking it, reading about it and talking about your new foods and recipes and share with your family. You may find out that they like some of the new stuff or may want to change out some of the less healthy foods for some of your ideas, recipes, etc. Don't sit off in a room and feel left out or sad. Make something you can eat and share. This is your path, own it.
  4. @@Essence46 - you look GREAT! It shows in your face and of course, the mirror doesn't lie!
  5. got your seat right here (pats empty spot) on losers bench - COME ON! Let us know as soon as possible that you are out and how you are doing.

    Labor Day Challenge!

@@ladycook9713 @@LVGhostgirl looks like we are in the same boat hoping to get into ONEDERLAND! I know my goal is a bit unrealistic but if I can get to 205 (two pounds a week) I will take it!
  7. @@Brian66 - Thanks for updating us on your progress. You revised from band to sleeve in 7/2010? How long did it take to lose the 100plus pounds? Your stats have lap-band - just curious.

    Hello friends

@@sleevedlatina mickey - welcome to the losers bench. I never had surgery before and was told the sore throat was from having the tube down my throat. I was sleeved on a Wednesday and didn't notice it until a few days afterwards. good luck!
  9. Sometimes I burp, but if I count it is about 8 to 9 bites of solid food chewed really well. I also sit my fork down. it keeps me from mindlessly shoveling another bite in and swallowing before the first bite is mush. I ate about half a salad a couple of weeks ago and when I got my food I ate one too many bites and felt it immediately. I didn't get sick but I felt like I swallowed a rock. I stopped eating and started sipping Water hoping to wash it through - it did. It is definitely a learning process. I have a hard time NOT eating my veggies with my Protein, so I have to work on eating protein first, veggies and then carbs (which is rare). We eat out a lot and the newest change has been no drink at all at the table for me. I have been ordering water but I don't like the chlorinated taste and I am trying to be vigilant about not drinking after I eat - eliminating the drink makes it impossible. I guess next will be no salad :/
  10. you look great and you can tell by the BIG smile that you feel great. that is so encouraging for us newbies.

    Before approval

@@Soodoo @skyjones - make sure your insurance won't back off if you lose too much. Mine was ok because I had a comorbidity (BP). Just to be safe I found out how much I could lose without THAT stopping the surgery, keeping my BMI at least at 40. I was actually about 6lbs over that on day of surgery, with a little wiggle room. Like @@Daisee68 said add changes like the 30/30 and stopping the carbonated drinks. Caffeine is better removed if done gradually as well.

@@Lynn Hatcher - so sorry to hear you lost your son. Grief is hard enough, but losing a child is incomprehensible. Please talk to someone - God bless you and your family~

    Before approval

@@skyjones - great idea that way you are prepping just in case they offer you a date a lot earlier than the norm for prepping. I had the opportunity and was thankful I had started doing the diet - I was pretty much 90% on it when I got the approval letter on April 3rd. I ended up not taking the earlier date, but it was nice to have the option!
  16. @ - kudos for realizing you were headed down a path you fought you way out of three years ago. Go to support meetings, get back to basics (REALLY look at and record) what you are eating, do a re-set. Come here and read about others who have slipped and re-set. Are you drinking Water? Have you slipped into old habits that got you to your HW? You are currently where I would like to be by my next doctor appointment in Sept. We have roughly the same stats and I hate to see a sister slide. I would want someone like @@bewell or myself to step up and say "get it together girlfriend". I hit 282 on the scale early this year when I backed off the WLS and realized it was not a matter of if I could weigh 300lbs, it was a matter of when. I am only a little over 2 months out and I am not losing as fast as others but I am losing. Hang in there and let us know what you decide to do.

    It's surgery day

@@Shilatte you will be fine. let us know when you can that you are looking for a seat here on the losers bench. I have one saved for you! Happy Re-Birthday!
  18. I use either 1% or fat free and in a 12oz shaker bottle I have increased the amount of Water to 8oz and only 4oz of either 1% or FF milk. It gives it just enough milk to keep it from tasting like a chocolate drink. I am NOT a big milk drinker and I have found this gives it a better flavor than no water without all of the added calories, carbs, etc. Have you tired it with a FF greek yogurt and added ice the thin it out a bit? Hope that helps!
  19. hope you are still on track. do you still have same surgery date?
