Menstrual maddness!
jane13 replied to Lanewboricua's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My question is from an old womans POV. I am 52 and just entering menopause and it is now really a question of IF Aunt Flo and her rusty old red Cadillac is coming for a visit this month or not. I have had 1 since surgery but have had all the symptoms since Wednesday of last week. Bloating, constipation, cramping, mOoDiNeSs! I had started about 18mos ago skipping a month here or there, because I am menopausal now, and now I have no freaking clue - except that I cant eat CHOCOLATE! sorry - ranting :/ -
mine is more like 2 to 2.5 for about three weeks....then 1, like now.

How Much Weight Did Your Surgeon Say You'd Lose at 6 Months?
jane13 replied to TexasGirl86's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@snowkitten I think you have done excellent and do not look at your journey as a failure. I am only 10 weeks post and I had my first f/u visit with the surgeon and I felt like I wasn't losing enough, for him. I was down 20lbs from my last weigh-in (at his other office) that was done about 2 weeks before surgery. He told me to try to only eat two meals right now and if I was hungry in between to drink Water first and if I still felt hungry after making sure it wasn't head hunger to eat fruit. I ask if I could have veggies instead and he said either was fine. I joined the Labor day challenge here because my next visit with him (at the same office, with the same scale) is Sept 8th. I hope to be close to 200. I am ok with losing 60+ pounds since April by Sept 8th! I will be 4 months 2 days post at that point. ANY LOSS is reason to celebrate! -
@@tomi71 - I totally agree with you as a "newbie" I feel you have hit the nail on the head. I am about 10 weeks out....

@@dcannan - I have to admit bread, popcorn & chips are the three hardest things for me to give up. Diet Coke, Sprite, chocolate, pizza, French fries - no problem. when do you get off liquids? I was off liquids after third day and was craving scrambles eggs & cheese. I think once I got to where I could chew something, that I could smell (like bread), it made a difference. Does that make sense? Hubby and I eat out a lot and I watch him eat the cheddar biscuits at Red Lobster and the bread at Longhorn. I just focus on Protein. I have started asking them to bring my food when he gets a salad because I want to start c-h-e-w-I-n-g my dinner; protein, veggies which is usually chicken (or shrimp), then broccoli. I am good with that now ;D

When did you start feeling more energetic?
jane13 replied to Beachsprite's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@ are you on a pre-op diet? Sorry, I guess I missed something... I am post op (5/6/15) and I am struggling with energy but I know why. My fuel (food) has been reduced due to lack hunger. If you are at your heaviest then I am assuming you are not on a pre-op diet, or attempting a pre-op diet????? -
@kashco - good luck! we are here....let us know how you are doing.

To do surgery or not to do?
jane13 replied to beccaconaty87's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@beccaconaty87 make your decision, FOR you. You have to change because like you have read here WLS is ONLY a tool. Please think about your family's diet as well as your own while you prep for surgery. I am referring to your statement about your 8 y/o. I know I won't get any "likes" for this but the whole family needs to get on board with you and it will be beneficial to all of you. An eight y/o weighing 110 is going to be picked on - I had 2 of 5 kids who were like that and I now its not easy but help your children learn to eat right now and they hopefully won't be a WLS patient -

where is your water? how much have you drank today?
jane13 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know a lot of us (like me) struggle with the hydrating thing and I thought I would post and ask. I am a big believer that Water with the sleeve is a dynamic duo tool for WLS. I am not a computer savvy person so I think just posting this thread will make people look for their water.... -

jane13 replied to jane13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@proudgrammy me too, only one trip about 230am....on my 2nd bottle of 25 oz now.... -
I was uncomfortable the day of and on the following day - by the 3rd day the only issue really was waiting for the green light for pureed food. Stomach muscles were tight when I tried to lie back onto the bed. getting up wasn't as bad it was the s-l-o-w lying back that hurt the most. I actually moved to sitting on the side of the bed and laying down on my side, then rolling to my back, much easier!

I started WLS journey last November and backed out in December. By mid Jan or so I was 282 lbs. I freaked out. I knew 300 was going to be me in a few more more months. I changed to sleeve which was my original plan in November and had surgery in early May, no regrets at all, except wished I had done it without the two month break.

What happened in your relationship after surgery?
jane13 replied to lisa0617's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@lisa0617 - do the surgery for you. but talk to your hubby, having him onboard will make a world of difference. if the marriage is not going to make it then you don't need that kind of drama along with WLS too. -

@@Mooseknuckle - so how are you doing now?

I eat out a lot because hubby likes to go out to eat. Since I began this journey I have lost about 59lbs. Hubby has been losing weight since I seriously began my journey in January 2015, when I weighed 282. I asked him shortly post-op how he felt about ordering a la carte or sharing. He is super cool about it and just Saturday night at Fridays he said you aren't suppose to drink while eating and I find that if I drink before I eat - I get full quicker. He gets a take home box as well. I finally weigh less than him after about 8 years. I couldn't imagine doing this without his support. We eat out 4-5 times a week.

small amounts post-op of mushy foods, like eggs, cottage cheese, strained cream of ____ soup, refried beans, yogurt with no fruit chunks (look out for seeds). I craved scrambled eggs with cheese - on Day 3 post-op they were delicious!
