***-BCBS IL, weight gain between referral from primary care dr to surgeon
jane13 replied to HopeandAgony's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@HopeandAgony - depending on your liver it could possibly mean no surgery. I didn't lose a lot but I did lose. Were you given a diet to follow? This is a tool you are hoping to get for WL and if you think that the pre-op is hard you will really think the clear or all liquid diet sucks. Gotta have your head in the game or you will really struggle and get frustrated. -
Woo-Hoo!!! Hit the 50lb loss mark this morning!!!! I am so pumped about hitting that milestone. To top that off - the shorts I just got back into after about 5 years of not being able to squeeze into - are too BIG! I can wear shorts to work and about a month ago I went through my clothes and donated to local women's shelter anything size 20 or larger (depending on how they fit). I have been wearing 18s and some 16s. This morning I tried on a pair of shorts that a month ago seemed too snug and now they seem really loose! I am going home today and trying on the 16s!!!! These are the best NSVs ever!

@@proudgrammy - Again thanks. Womens shelters have a special place in my heart as I have been a resident once with my two kids during Christmas 1993.

@@proudgrammy - if it makes you feel good then that's all I need to hear! Congrats on making the decision and esp for being happy with the results. -
@@khaled - I haven't seen the powdered juice mix and I am in walmart, a lot! Have you tried the fairlife milk? it has a lot of Protein in it and its in walmart here in florida. So can you do strained soups?

@@Zweiz - I am 52 as well and was sleeved 5/6/15, best decision I have made in a while, NO regrets.

@@Debbie623 - golden ticket, yes! I have clothes that I bought that were marked down to wear to work (industrial environment). I always hoped I would be able to wear and now I have my "golden ticket" and I am shopping! thanks!

@@khaled - IMO, you need to call your NUT. I was told to stay away from juice (too many sugars) and milk. I don't know what plan your surgeon has you on post-op. Clear liquids now? If not, you can probably have strained Soups like cream of chicken, broccoli and cheese, egg drop - my faves. That may eliminate the "hunger" you are feeling. Sounds like you need Protein and you won't get it from juice. Milk a little and depending on the yogurt it could be very little. Are you eating greek yogurt?

@@khaled - have you drank water and waited about 30 minutes to see if the pain and sound come back? How long has it been since you ate? Are you eating protein first?

@@Mandypads - I hit a stall about every 3 to 4 weeks. I may not lose anything or barely a pound. Stay focused, hydrate, protein & watch carbs. Measure yourself or try on old clothes for incentive - could be you are losing inches, not pounds at the moment - it happens.

Should you blenderise or strain your cream shops to de-lump?
jane13 replied to nomorechubbybutt63's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
watch the sodium in the canned Soups. are you cleared for pureed? "having a bad time?" I was recovering in a 25' RV post-op so, trust me, organization was not happening:) I drank a lot of Protein drinks and strained cream of chicken, egg drop, broccoli & cheese Soup, FF pudding, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, Greek no-fat yogurts that was flavored (no fruit) at first. I couldn't stomach the taste of the SF popsicles or Jello. Made me wretch every time -
@ - I have been up about 4 hours and I am at work. great exercise routine and with a friend makes it so much better.

New here - exploring surgery options
jane13 replied to luvhermitcrabs's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@ - Welcome to BariatricPal and our forum. Research and make sure you and hubby understand that all of the aspects of this type of surgery. What is good for one may not be good for the other. WLS is only a tool and you have to use your tool daily or it just won't work. I was sleeved on 5/6/15 and wished I had done it earlier in the year. I backed out of the band (adult daughter wanted me to do something not permanent) and went with my original choice of the sleeve - NO REGRETS! I have yo-yo dieted most of my adult life and I really don't feel like I am "dieting" now. Just eating smaller and a helluva lot smarter. I get asked regularly if I can eat REAL food. I have been very lucky and haven't found anything that I cannot eat. I eat out a lot - and get m-e-a-l-s for lunch with what I take home in a doggie bag. I feel a lot thinner than I really am and I realized its because I had walked around for 9 years weighing more. I had started gaining about 8 or so pounds a year and topped out at 282 earlier this year when I backed out of band surgery late last year. I hit my 50lb loss (start weight for surgeon) this morning! I feel very blessed to have reached this milestone. -
