Things I've been slacking on ...
jane13 replied to Margie122's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@MissMac - I totally agree with the scale thing. I have to, or I will have to recover from a larger gain. @Margie122 - the Water thing is not too hard for me but giving up the coffee in its place, esp in the early morning is hard. I really hit the water after about 8am. If I drink too much after about 7pm I am making numerous trips. I have really gotten into the mowing thing, just not enough rain here to make it grow really fast - yet. -
Question about purée food...
jane13 replied to Express09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Express09 - On my post-op list: mashed potatoes & eggs. I ate scrambled eggs with cheese Stuffing was a no. @Christinamo07 is correct, there is a fine line between full and over doing it...eat a bite (chewed well) then wait a few minutes and eat a second bite. You may only be able to eat 2-4 bites of food. -
@@haleymarie - you paid the surgeon for care, CALL!!!! Better to be crazy and call/stop in than to have a potential medical problem and not ask! Were you on any weight restrictions for lifting? I was and slipped up and lifted something (not thinking) and did get a twinge for a couple of days - called doctors office and they reassured me and said if it continued to come in or go to ER. I was about 3 weeks post.

@@charley27 - "I just want to be skinny so bad" - can you share your goal weight? I ask, because of your statement ^, and like someone else mentioned your unrealistic expectations from your mom. Maybe I read your post and took it the wrong way, which is why I am asking. I hope you realize the surgery is a 'tool' not a magic wand (requires your effort 24/7, 365 days) and that 3 weeks post you will probably stall (and it will be the first of many) and will probably not lose 50lbs in the first month I am NOT saying YOU think this but some people seem to feel the surgery is a magical wand, they wont stall (ever) and that in 2-3 months they will have lost 100plus pounds, with no effort on their part. IMO if your mom & hubby are 'on board' with this I would suggest having them both go with you to some of the pre-op stuff if they both know what you have to do to make your surgery a success. Best of luck. Keep us posted!

What Has Been the Hardest Habit for You to Break?
jane13 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Carbs and uncontrolled (measured out) Snacks - are my nemesis. I can be very good until I eat a snack in between meals and if I haven't gotten it measured out I will munch beyond the serving size. I am talking about the crunchy type snacks: pork rinds are a great example :/ -
@ - the lady on the train who complimented you made up for the j@ck@ss at work. Do not allow his comments to continue and try to not respond, just head to HR. I HAVE responded to an a**hole (hung over alcoholic)about 20 years ago at work when he decided to literally cuss me out and I just went off with every 4 letter, 6 letter word I could think of (made up a few). If I hadn't retaliated I could've had him reprimanded. He had been making snide comments for a couple of weeks and I was over it and let it go. Funny thing was that our boss (an alcoholic as well) stood right there and watched the whole thing go down. He (boss) stood there shaking after it was over and said I didn't know what to do (?). This forum is for ranting and raving and for those who don't realize that need to sip another cup of coffee, and take their hands off the keyboard and READ!

Trouble finding vitamins?
jane13 replied to becomingmandikaye's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to take twice a day one under 50 Centrum (or generic) for a Multivitamin once I was about 14 days out. I break the generic ones in half and take it in the morning with BP med and Biotin. 3-4 hrs later I take a generic Citracal Calcium citrate w/D3 (petites, which are still huge). I take a second one about another 3-4 hrs later. Before I go to bed I take another generic multivitamin and I just recently started add B1 because my BW showed it was a little low (that was my idea and doctor was ok with doing that until we get next round of BW in about 3 months). The extra Iron caused bathroom problems -
That would be a potential NSV if I flew often. Last time was about 5 years ago and we had to hop on a puddle hopper to get to the airport near Ft Drum NY. It was about a 45 minute flight and hubby had gotten two front row seats. I thought great, more leg room - WRONG! I sat against the window and to not only squeeze my behind into the seat but I also had to sit with my head cocked to an angle because of the curve of the plane itself. It was a miserable trip.

@TheRealMeIsHere! so sorry to here about your fiancé. And I agree with everyone and wanted to add that my ex was a good looking man. He never complained about my body before, during or after we divorced. He was good about that, but couldn't stay monogamous. That was the deal breaker - I don't share well when it comes to my husband }:| Fast forward to my husband that I have been married to for 22 years, is not what I would call a 'looker' like the first husband. BUT I am EXTREMELY attracted to him and wished I had found him first! Attraction is much more than the obvious physical part IMO~

May 16th surgery buddies?.....Let's do this together!
jane13 replied to kmorri's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to a peer to peer meeting for the first time (I am post 1 year) and I could hear stomachs gurgling Most of the people were at least 6-9 months post. I think my own stomach started trying to compete, so NO the noisy, chatty, vocal tummy may blab for a while I thought it was kind of funny and I don't think I was the only one who noticed -
@@LacyWH - that is possibly where your stomach was removed and it may hurt more than the other locations. My doctor took my stomach out through my belly button so I didn't have that kind of pain. @@kmorri - Hey GF! I had a screwed up sleep pattern too post-op. Hope you are feeling better! Able to eat pureed ok? I would call Uchal and see if maybe Melatonin would be okay to take to help you sleep. jane

@@TamaraRae - sip ALL DAY! Getting dehydrated is an ER trip so sip, sip, sip! Move as much as possible too as it could be gas in your tummy. You 'got this'
