  1. its unfortunately not his first run in with the law and I feel he will do time. How much is what bothers me. I am 52. If he gets life...I think I will die inside. If he gets 30 years I might live to see him come out and he will be 54. I can't imagine what he would do at that point to support himself. He would be as emotionally and financially distraught as he has been the last 2-3 years trying to get a job. As a felon, no one wants to hire you. And he sits...and thus gets into more trouble (drugs) because all the "buds" are also at home - doing nothing because they don't have a job. Its a vicious cycle that breeds trouble. I have complained with the probation office that I thought not only were they suppose to monitor his behavior but I thought they were supposed to help guide them back into society. His last PO flat told me the day he got out - "hes not going to make it". She had him back in jail within a couple of months for being home late from a job by 15 minutes and trying to sell an extra motorcycle helmet at the pawn shop to pay for a required probation class. I begged her to put an ankle monitor on him when it became apparent she thought he was not at home when he was supposed to be or coming straight home. She said "if you cannot afford a probation class, how can you afford a monitor?" sorry still venting. Thanks everyone for replying and sharing - I just want my son to lead a productive life. Get straight, get a job, home, maybe even one day have a family...and YES its all his fault (drugs) but I cannot sit at home and monitor him. I have 1 other child and 3 step-children he is the youngest of the five and I am beside myself trying to figure out what I did differently....

    Lump in my throat?

@@MrsKarenC2008 - I only get that "lump" sensation when I have ate one too many bites of food <ouch>. I have done that twice. I hope to never to it again either.
  11. as a junkie (scale junkie) its easy to get really bent out of shape about what the scale reads day to day, hour to hour, minute to minute.... your weight fluctuates throughout the day... IMO~~~~ Pick one day a week and weigh. Then weigh next week, wearing roughly the same thing (birthday suit ), on the same day of the week. I think if you see a trend that the scale is moving in the wrong direction on about the third weigh-in then you need to STOP and evaluate and record everything you eat. Something is off. I weigh everyday (almost) first thing after my trip to the bathroom. I wait a few minutes and weigh again. I take the second weight as THE weight for the day. Today it was 211.5, which is up 1.5 from Monday (Labor Day Challenge). I wasn't too happy with that, but I also know I have hit the pretzel chips one too many times and had some salty fried chicken livers (4pcs) from KFC last night. Hubby is out of town and I have been winging it for dinner at night for me and adult son who lives at home. Today is a Water, water, water, walk, walk, walk day...so daily weigh ins keep me "in-check" for revisiting what I ate and maybe next time I will make a better food choice
  12. when you aren't walking make sure you don't lie flat, on your side to help get the gas out. At night elevate your upper body as well.

@@mandyn85 - vent here!!!! There is usually someone here to read and reply, just make sure you do like you did - admit you just need to vent (rant, etc) so we know that you aren't a TROLL! I get it. If I could have done this without surgery I would have. I just wasn't winning the battle and 300 was visible on the scale (HW282). Do what YOU have to do for YOU (and your four children). My only regret is not doing it sooner.

    Self Sabotage

@ - I have tried finishing a 24 oz bottle of Water on the way to work (45min drive), refill and finish another before first break at work, another before lunch & one more before I go home. I see it on my desk and even if I don't get all 4 done I refill and drink on the way home. I live in Florida, its hot - even in the A/C. Can you walk at work? I know if you are crunching time it is a way to accomplish a little exercise along with hydrating (carry the 32oz bottle of water everywhere!). this is just a suggestion -
  17. @@Fabiana87 - I thin being scared is pretty common. You are young and have two small children. Stevehud had a great answer for you. If you still have concerns talk to your surgeon and discuss all of any other medical issues you may have. Good luck and whatever you choose - do it for yourself
  18. @@Nibbler - I am also a scale junkie. I don't know if my sanity could handle NOT weighing in. I think you have to remember that at times the scale will not move at all but your body is changing regardless. I was stopped numerous times yesterday at work about my weight loss and I have been at work today 3 hours and I have been asked twice today. Scale hasn't really moved but about a .5 pound in the last 3 days but all I have heard is "how much more have you lost?" If you can wait in between dr visits then I would go for it. I wouldn't go and buy a scale. The best NSV is trying on clothes you have worn in 5, 10 years and they fit!!! Of course my old clothes are not in fashion now but I remember wearing them and being able to ZIP pants is like sex!

  21. I didn't like the idea of a foreign object staying inside until a complication caused it to be removed. I really haven't noticed a lot of difference pre surgery compared to now except I don't eat as much and I really don't feel hungry.

    Are pity parties allowed?

yea, it sucks and it really isn't fair to compare ourselves to each other, but we do. Have you tried on old clothes? I haven't seen a lot of movement on the scale this week, but I have probably been stopped 4 times TODAY asking how much MORE weight am I going to lose. I feel like I weigh 160-170 lbs (my normal adult weight I weighed most of my life) but I am over 50lbs away from that goal. I think the other frustrating part is that according to my BMI - I am still obese - and I have 14 more lbs to get to overweight. People freak out when I tell them that, because they think I am not far from my "goal". by the way I don't share "numbers". Keep battling the weight loss war because I am right here beside you~
