Living with Lymphedema
jane13 replied to icyblufrz88's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@icyblufrz88 - I would think, IMO, that a benefit of any WLS would be helping the lymphedema. The same with the cellulitis. The inability to be somewhat mobile I believe adds to both of these medical conditions in a negative way. Have you seen a WLS surgeon? Gone to a seminar? Hubby and I went to a seminar before I started this journey. There were a few folks there who were struggling with both cellulitis and lymphedema. If I remember correctly there were questions about both and the surgical staff said that the WLS did not adversely affect either - -
@@nikkimapr - what does "not allowed to have it" mean? That would be my first question at that come to Jesus meeting. I would want full explanation. Is there some kind of monetary limit on your insurance? Are they considering this elective? Who is the primary on the insurance? Does that play a role?

I feel like I am starving
jane13 replied to kaylie428's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
are you sure it's not thirst? are you getting enough fluids in? protein? drink first and wait and see if hungers persists. I have heard an antacid may help because it could be reflux? I haven't had that issue. I occasionally am hungry but it is usually after going long periods of time without eating. I have gone 10 hours in between meals to this day. -

@@kranky813 @@TJBintheOC @@Niki15 - I don't miss the food as much as I need to remember to chew thoroughly and only eat 20 minutes and then stop, period. I find that if hubby and I are out to eat (which we do a lot) I put my food on my smaller plate - we order and I get his "add-ons" - and to avoid watching him still eat I push my food around and sit my fork down. That also prevents any accidental overeating. Hubby admitted to me about a month or so ago that he felt bad that he was eating a lot more food and felt uncomfortable about eating infront of me. I was upset that he hadn't mentioned it. I told him that I am not hungry and if he THINKS I am he is wrong. I have take home everytime we go out. I think by stretching out my time eating it doesn't seem as obvious to him how much I am eating. by the way - he has lost about 15lbs since my pre-op! -

jane13 replied to MrsKarenC2008's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@MrsKarenC2008 Funny you mentioned this - that's how I over ate twice, only a mouthful or so but enough to cause discomfort for about an hour. I watch my husband eat and I don't actually miss the pig out sessions. I am still a newbie in this WLS world and to avoid the discomfort I have to be mindful of quantity of food/drink. I am right there with you in this battle against the bulge! -
I was allowed chicken but was told to thoroughly chew it to mush. I have the sleeve and I have never experienced dumping. I have over ate twice and the knot in the throat and the sweating. The urge to want to throw up that last bite or two was overwhelming but I didn't want to do that either. I sipped water slowly and waited for it to pass - took about an hour. Not something I want to experience again.

How do I know I'm full?
jane13 replied to theatrejo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@theatrejo -time yourself and measure. If you are eating for more than twenty minutes you are probably full. I would stick with hydration being you priority at this point. Yogurt is a slider so its hard for me to feel full on it at four months. I have pretty much been able to eat a 5oz cup from the first day of soft foods on 3 days post-op. -
