  4. @@tg273957 - I don't live THAT close to the beach but I do enjoy the Sunshine State! I actually like to mow the lawn and I have enjoyed doing that the last month or so - I have had to fight the hubby to get the push mower (he has a riding lawnmower)! we have a new house and I would much rather be outside in the nice weather than inside dusting ;/

    Dr. Uchal Jacksonville, Fl

@@Leesa926 - by the way, I have no issues with Dr. Uchal - I had no post-op problems that went without him addressing them immediately. I developed tachycardia (rapid heartbeat) post-op. I didn't even realize until the next day and until he was sure I had no underlying issues (blood clots) before he would let me leave. I had an x-ray, cat-scan and MRI that afternoon and left St Vincent's Southside about 930ish that night. They called Friday morning to check on me and by Saturday morning when I checked using my hubby's BP cuff it was back to normal. I actually think it shifted Friday, but I didn't check until then. I didn't feel bad, just sleepy Friday. By Saturday I was eating scrambled eggs with cheese and all moving over the place!

    Dr. Uchal Jacksonville, Fl

@@Leesa926 - to answer your question I didn't get the numbers on leaks, how many sleeves, etc. I did question the staff about the issues concerning the band. The Southside St Vincents group (Lynda & head doctor) turned me off to the surgery all together last December. I felt like I was being told I was "uneducated" in the reason why the lap band was unsuccessful. I left, didn't pay the $300, and cancelled my pre-op classes and stewed for a day or so. I called a couple of days later and spoke to the office manager and told her I was extremely upset how everything happened. Once we spoke for a few minutes she admitted that just in the last week or so she had another patient call complaining about the same thing. She said she had heard rumors but no patient had ever come forward, until me and the other had called. I still didnt re-engage until January and then I had to wait for the correct classes to be available. I spent the Christmas holidays trying to kick into yet another diet. As the new year rolled in and I had researched on-line and went with my original choice to do the sleeve. I totally have NO REGRETS except that I wish I had stayed on track and I would probably be closing in on a normal weight now... Call Tami at Uchals office or go to the support meetings~ Good luck and keep me posted!

Star Jones weight gain (80 lbs)

When I saw my surgeon for my 2nd post op visit he told me to aim for about 150lbs, which is what I had estimated as a "dream weight" and had on a ticker, until I removed it recently. I told him I would be happy with 160 -175 range and in my mind I am was pushing for that...then he said around two years post some put about 15% back on, so 150 is what I need to strive for NOW. I asked him why the 15% and he said it seems to be a trend and to stay on top of it so it doesn't get out of control. I get that as a life long yo-yo dieter. That's why this is a LIFETIME commitment and ONLY a tool!

    Handfuls of hair :-(

@@madferitchick - I am 4.5 post and in the last month it has been coming out in handfuls. I can actually feel it hit my shoulders and backside if I have nothing on. I also cut my hair to just above my shoulders and I also pull my hair back in a loose ponytail. Football season has started so I may start wearing a ball cap/visor until the Superbowl next year :-( @@Bufflehead where do you get the dermpatch?
  9. @@BLERDgirl - where do you buy the Isopure? I thought the unjury was a bit pricey but I do like the unflavored stuff. I just wish they sold it in larger containers. I think a lot don't realize the difference between whey isolate protein and the whey protein. I would rather pay more and get the whey isolate as you know there is a big difference and that's why I actually responded. The evil empire is convenient for most and if you are out, you have to "dance with the devil in the pale moonlight". I think a lot of people don't think about the "isolate" being a big deal.

  11. @@betrthnever - I would hold off on getting remeasured and getting the dress altered until after about 4 weeks post. That would give her two weeks to alter and you can probably adjust accordingly from their. You don't want to be bulging out and over if its too small. Congrats on BOTH!!! Send pictures!!!!

    Re: Refried beans?

@@kaysunshine - I was eating refried Beans, with the blessing of my medical team, a lot earlier than some did here, as well. I was thrilled to eat a scrambled egg with cheese that Saturday morning (my surgery was the Wednesday before). It was heaven

  16. @@Nomorethickchick - I don't think any of us here can give you 100% validation that you may/may not have an issue with Vitamin deficiency.
  17. @@Nomorethickchick - OK. I have read your posts here and your other thread about the Vitamin deficiency and you seem to be literally "on the fence" about the surgery. You need to talk to the psychologist, nutritionist and surgeon. Your fears are scary to me at this point pre-surgery. You have backed out two other times and you aren't sure now. Its YOUR life and YOUR decision. I truly wish you this best of luck but I am afraid you will have the surgery and wont be comfortable post-op and will be really regretting having the surgery. Surgery or NOT, keep us posted and if you decide to do it on your own then come here and we can still cheer you on!!!
  18. @@rln52 - welcome to the "other side"
  19. @@Nomorethickchick - contact your NUT or ask your physician for more clarity on the long term results. They can give you all the info you need to read pre-surgery and that's who you should ask first. Us fellow post-sleevers can only provide what our experiences are and what we have learned this far post-op. This is why, especially less than 2 weeks pre-op, you need to be asking your medical team these questions/concerns and make sure this decision is good for you. 22. Although he never set a particular "goal" for me I felt like my first f/u visit on June 2nd that he was disappointed in my weight loss. I was hoping to be in ONEderland today but that didn't happen I am dreading the scale today - I use to step backwards up onto them before WLS! I am confident enough to step up facing forward, just like I did in June, but I sure hope I don't feel like I didn't lose enough :/ Its bad enough to have personal drama outside the WLS world and to also be worrying about a darn number on a scale! OK - I have said my piece. Wish me luck!
