How long did it take you to notice?
jane13 replied to MickeyMax95's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@MickeyMax95 - I didn't physically start "seeing" it until I was down about 50. My clothes were the biggest motivators for me. I couldn't keep up my shorts/pants/panties - that's to me the best NSV ever! -

Unsuccesful surgery ?!?
jane13 replied to HappyNean32's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@HappyNean32 - rather safe than sorry. If it was not explained then understand that it was probably a medical reason as to why it was called off. I would rather the surgeon, I trusted with my life, make that call than to go ahead and I have complications IMHO - Have trust in your medical team, or don't do the surgery. -
Happy (belated) Birthday Elode! Where are you?

@@Elode - I haven't seen you on the boards I guess you are still rocking your birthday week (Wednesday)! -

@@gdub23 - I drink water throughout the night, if I wake up (I drink), that's the only thing I know to do besides hydrate as much as possible until about 6 and then sip, sip, sip. That way I am NOT waking up because I have "to go".

@@JudeaJordon - I would say it was dumping and I agree no Protein shake should be high in sugar especially. That's tends to make me go a little bit more, if I eat something very sugary. What Protein drinks are you drinking?

you look great - keep up the good work!!! I hope to hit that same mark -100 by New Years.

@@dhrguru - I may have you confused with someone else but isn't your hubby overweight as well? He may feel that your a "forcing" the diet on him because he already knows he needs to be trying to get his weight under control and he just doesn't want to admit to it (out loud). I have been pretty darn lucky that both hubby and son haven't said too much about what we eat. Hubby likes to eat out and we have gotten pretty creative ordering

3 weeks post op - serious fatigue
jane13 replied to pokeyvenus's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
@@pokeyvenus - just a thought....are you on BP meds??? If you are - check your BP. I felt better once my meds were cut in half after losing about 20-25 lbs. My weight loss was enough that my BP was really low. Stay hydrated as well. Good luck and welcome to the losers bench! -
Surviving the holidays and food celebrations
jane13 replied to skinnyrita's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@skinnyrita - I was also sleeved in May 2015 too. I plan on doing like I have on the 4th of July and birthdays for my grandsons - eating smart (and smaller amounts). I am not going to NOT have a piece of pumpkin pie (just might be only a bite or two) and stuffing/gravy and cranberry sauce (small amount of each). I want to live my life and this is my plan...smarter (and smaller amounts). -
well..maybe there is hope for "real life" meeting someone
jane13 replied to CowgirlJane's topic in Singles Forum
@@CowgirlJane - from one Jane to another Jane. I am plain - nothing about me draws men "in". I am 52 now and even when I was younger I just blended into the wallpaper. I have been happily married (second marriage) for almost 22 years. When I was divorced I had two men showing some interest in me and they both worked with me. I had a 1.5 y/o and 7 y/o at the time. What struck the one "out" was the fact that he was talking to another guy we both knew, and I overheard him complaining about going to the beach and someone brought their little kid (about 1.5 y/o) and the kid was fussy. This guy was 4 years older and we had a lot in common. I was physically attracted to him and we had clicked at some levels, but that comment struck a bad cord with me. I never officially accepted a date with him and went out with my now hubby and never looked back. Its hard enough putting yourself "out there" as it is and to have some a$$ portray himself as single is crap! if my ex hadn't passed away I would think it was him... Follow your gut~ -
Federal BCBS approval when falling under 35 BMI
jane13 replied to NewLife1985's topic in Insurance & Financing
@@NewLife1985 - actually they did measure me and so did the NUT. My NUT was the one who told me I was just under 5'8" (shoeless). Measure yourself - it cant hurt. Point is, they may have you recorded at the wrong height I was over the BCBS fed BMI req plus I had two comorbidities. -
@@treblecutie23 - hello from Jacksonville! Depending on where your surgeon removed your stomach from your abdomen, that pain could be from just the removal. My surgeon removed mine from my navel. I did have a little more tenderness from that side as well. I used a heating pad too and kept moving. IMHO I would try to limit as much of the prescribed pain meds as soon as possible. If during the day you can get by on OTC meds, I would. Save the prescribed stuff for later in the day and at night. I felt better doing that as well. Welcome to the losers bench!

@@SeahawksFan - me too - the number and alphabet thing... and then put it on a graph???? WTF??? I like some Protein drinks but I don't like them all. FYI - prostate exams equate I am sure to mammograms. that is where a woman can watch them squish her breast into a pancake!

Why not mix protein powder with water?
jane13 replied to BobbyD's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@ - just remember mixing with milk ups the carbs, calories, fat, etc. I don't particularly like it in water. I mix with some greek yogurt (and ice/water) to give it a flavor and to get rid of the chalkiness that I seem to taste in just water. Some mix with almond milk, cashew milk, soy or farmlife. -
Federal BCBS approval when falling under 35 BMI
jane13 replied to NewLife1985's topic in Insurance & Financing
@@NewLife1985 - not to sound like a smart a$$ but are you actually 5'5"??? I checked and at 5'4" and 204 lbs you would be at a 35 BMI - The doctors office measured me and said if they wanted to push my BMI up they could use my height as 5'7" (I have shrunk a little now at 52). -
How well did you guys do on the medically supervised diet
jane13 replied to AmyNLaynie6's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@AmyNLaynie6 - I didn't have one for 3months. I had about two weeks. I had actually started my pre-op as soon as I got the approval letter and I had completed the last req nutrition class. My pre-surgery appointment was about 2 weeks later and at that appointment because I had already started the pre-op diet I could've had the surgery within 9 days. I opted for a little later because I wanted to be the first in OR and not wait in the pre-OP for surgery too long. I was too nervous.
