  1. @@Mom26 - I have shared your post with others and your son is in multiple prayers. please keep me posted. I believe in the power of prayer.
  2. soft scrambled with cheese was my first real food. chew really well and eat only a couple of bites and wait. I hiccupped like the OP when I was full. It is better to eat a little less than to eat even ONE too many bites. Its miserable. it will get better.
  3. @@tmcx28 - how are your feeling today? Happy Belated Re-Birthday!

    Hello to All

@@TodayItEnds - welcome to the family. I am post-op and don't regret my choice at all. Like most, wished I had done it sooner! I didn't like the thought of bypass and I haven't had any real issues post-op. The reality of not eating a lot to feel satiated is kind of surreal. Whatever you decide make sure you can live with it. Its YOUR life and its a TOOL, not a magical wand good luck!

    Advice

@@bluejeanbaby the pre-admit OR nurse a couple of days before surgery said I could drink up to mid-night. I just happened to wake up at 11:45 and chugged as much Water as possible. I really didn't think about being that thirsty after surgery. I was fine until post-op around 7am then it was ALL I could think about. The OR nurse also said the better hydrated the easier the IVs and such. You may want to ask if they are going to give you a catheter. I totally didn't expect that either. I have never had surgery before. Fortunately as soon as I told them I felt that I had to go to the bathroom they said if I thought I could go, they would remove it. I had to use the "cup" to prove I could actually urinate.
  6. @@Mom26 - A moms worst nightmare. As a parent of a son with a serious drug addiction, I can understand your fears concerning yours sons mortality. My son can, himself, possibly turn his life around... I still worry about him overdosing - a friend lost her 31 y/o son in Oct, he overdosed. I had no words for her except a tearful eye exchange and a big hug. If I could {{{{{{hug}}}}}} you right now I would. I will pray for your son, you & your family... you are not alone....
  7. I cut mine shorter (to my shoulders), wash it about every three days, keep pulled into a "soft" pony tail. I also sweep the floor daily, clean the drain in the shower and wipe my bathroom counter off religiously - to keep from looking at all of the hair. I am almost 7 mos post (this Sat) and the hair loss started about 3-4 months ago and seems to have slowed down a bit...so has the weightloss (from about 10-12lbs a month) to about 6-7lbs a month. I am okay with both

    May 2015 Sleevers?

@@juju79 - I haven't had either one of those issues, thank goodness. I have ate one too many bites and wished I could throw up about a month post-op. That was a scary feeling. I wanted to just get a little up, but I knew that was stupid I was only about 3 wks post... Did you have heartburn before? I did, but not bad. I haven't had it really at all since surgery.
  9. @@cparni - I walked out of the office pre-op and stopped the process this time last year. I had already done a NUT class and had to complete three. They do one a month. I walked out because the office staff at my surgeons satellite office made me question the lap-band. I originally had planned on it for less recovery time. The staff made me doubt my surgeon for not re-directing me to the band. The Psych and insurance lady had me REALLY wonder WTF was I doing the band because it has sooooo many issues. Needless to say after going home (eating like usual) thru the holidays and researching my original choice, the sleeve. I hit my HW(282) ever, at this time. I pulled up my "big girl panties" and got back into the game. That Staff was reprimanded for doing that to me. I wasnt the only one apparently. I have never doubted my surgeon, or his skills, is my point.

    Emotions

@@L.Harmony - I totally agree with @@Yaberhoo - you need to breathe, and breathe deep. Contact your doctors office and see about taking an OTC for sleep, Melatonin or Tylenol PM? You had surgery about 5 weeks ago - did your doctor tell you that you would lose ___lbs by this date ____? I doubt it. We all lose at different rates. Stay focused on hydrating and Protein and get your sleep cycle closer to normal. Keep a bottle of Water with you at ALL times, sip. Set a timer/clock/cell phone to alarm every two hours and check your water intake to keep you hydrated. Eat protein FIRST. You work in corrections, according to your profile, so I don't know if your schedule is rotated. Lack of sleep, plus the hormone flush, we go thru early out can make you feel really "pissy" or overwhelmed <breathe>.

    Advice

@@bluejeanbaby - how long can I drink the night before (mine was midnight!) and how long will I have to wait to drink post-op? The leak test for me was around 11 the NEXT day. I was first in the OR the day before for surgery, so why so long to get me checked for leaks??? I was ready to suck the condensation off the windows! Florida heat + freezing hospital room = oodles of condensation and I was craving anything. I was NOT allowed ice chips, so yes....going without something to drink was a pain in the behind. I had no issues post-op by the way, smooth recovery so far (7 months post this Saturday!)

Old bestfriend Is back, and hes married..

why did you break up to begin with? Was he unfaithful (like he is NOW to his WIFE!) or didn't appreciate you? RUN!
  13. @@Sajijoma - SEVEN Kids????? Wow - I had 5 at home years ago and I can only imagine what have a couple of more would've been like I miss those days I replied earlier and I wanted to add that although I have lost proportionately it is still sad to look down and see the deflated muffin top as they call it now. Spandex is your friend
  14. @@KindaFamiliar - LOL! Jason, you can also be called a "scale junkie", that was the moniker I was tagged with years back with weight watchers. Like @@MichiganChic and @@Lipstick Lady, I feel like it keeps me focused. When you stress out about daily fluctuations and start eating one olive/pickle a day, drinking miralax like Water and wrapping yourself in foil and laying out in the sun to lose that pound or two....you need an intervention! I have charted too! On the refrigerator - with no numbers! Coded, "thick girl" trick, so no one knew exactly what I weighed. So funny now when I think about it....

    Well, duh! Meal sizes

@@Briardlady - maybe I didn't make myself clear. If I am eating sliced deli turkey and its x grams of Protein per 3 slices then I "weigh" out the amount of protein I want for my meal by counting out the slices. Protein first, when eating, and fluids all day!
  16. jane13

    Well, duh! Meal sizes

@Briardlady- I eat Protein that I have weighed out for tracking and eat it first and then the others (veggies/carbs) follow. Hardly ever get to the carb part :/ food with higher carbs are what I snack on (sometimes) like pretzels and occasionally popcorn :/

    May 2015 Sleevers?

@@juju79 - I am doing pretty good, hoping to hit a personal goal of -100 by 12/31/15, which is about 7 lbs. I am pretty sure the honeymoon is over but that's okay ~ I got this! how are you doing?

    at a stand still

@ - you didn't share a lot of info - pre or post-op? Search "stall" and read about the 3 week stall on BP. They happen, its part of the ride! Like a roller coaster, after the big drop or so, there are the "bunny slopes".
  19. @@piercedqt78 - I am assuming you had a great experience with Dr Uchal? I am one of his patients as well.
  20. I have lost proportionately too. I have always lost in my waist first and fortunately that still happened. My chest has gone down a small amount but they have been big since I was 13-14 y/o. I walk a lot at work (don't sit all 8 hours) and that seems to help.
  21. @@dusky goddess - you (we) all need to learn how to be flexible, sounds like you have it under control. This journey will have bumps in the road that we have to work around...like a vacation in a foreign land.
