How to increase protein intake?
jane13 replied to JessicaMarieee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@JessicaMarieee - it will get easier. Focus on staying hydrated, eat/drink Protein first and keep moving!!!! It will happen~ Welcome to the Losers Bench! -
I order and remove what I don't want in places with a drive thru. The hassle isn't worth the outcome. We eat out a lot and I do make requests: no croutons, no rice, etc. Doesn't ALWAYS work though

85lbs is awesome! I think my body somewhat doing the same thing because my clothes fit looser but the scale hasn't really budged :/ but that is "ok" like you said...
-
That is why if you don't ask, or speak up, you needs may get overlooked or not questioned. That is why it is so scary that people get this surgery and don't ask those questions. If something seems "off" or "wrong" ask....keep asking, get a different doctor, go to ER...

@@jwmoss - I would check the band to sleeve group and see what they think.

@@jwmoss - which surgery did you have? I am assuming VSG. Is there a chance you have the flu? I hate to ask the (other) question, but here goes....could you be pregnant? A lot of women get pregnant post-op... Either way I would go easy on the diet and get in touch with doctors office and see what they say... good luck and keep us posted.

Anyone else living with a person with mental illness? How do you keep focused on your health?
jane13 replied to VDB's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I too am dealing with an adult son who lives at home with a drug problem. he was placed in a rehab facility, court ordered, on the 22nd of December. i have been struggling since he was arrested in Aug 2015. it is a disease and as his only living parent I feel the sole responsibility to help him. my weight loss has stalled, stopped, etc. I am not focused and it's hard to do that when you feel all of your energy, focus, is on their well being. I was reminded yesterday to use this time (rehab) to get my own personal health both mentally and physically so that when he is released (July/Sept) I will be strong enough to not be an enabler. bipolar disorder can be very erratic, like drug use. I recommend getting some time for you and seeing a support group. I am going to a NA or AA meeting today. I cannot do this alone I know my weight gain was in part related to his legal issues. -
@ I USE to be over 5'8" but apparently I am now just under 5'8" so I actually could have listed a higher BMI. When I was told the difference I was dumbfounded. The doctors office said it just gives me a bump zone.

@ my first weigh counted at the surgeons office. are you at least 5'5"? if you are truly 5'4.99" you can be listed as 5'4" and your BMI will be elevated a bit.

I would get another opinion. Why they are not looking at surgery now? Six months is a long time..... -

@@Hannahb3997 just be careful buying protein. if your NUT suggest whey protein isolate, like mine, you will have to be careful and not buy just whey protein. you will probably pay less for whey protein vice WPI.
