@@prettymee - how are you doing?
-
@@stackinstones11 - so how are you now? what did the doctor say on the 17th?
-
I just answered another post like this and I think I am going to do my best to get to 155 like my surgeon would like. he said he wants me to shoot for that and in a year to 18 months post if I "bounce 15lbs" I will still be in a weight range I was aiming for which is 165-170. At 53, I don't need anymore skin dragging behind me or flapping louder as I walk faster :/

I am doing the same thing down 102 from HW and hoping to get to the 160's. I revisited the goal I had originally listed and because I really don't want to look completely "melted" I will keep an extra 10 or so on the ole body (53). I see my dr on 5/3 and will be 3 days short of my surgiversay. I hope to be below 170 (10lbs). My weight loss has slowed tremendously with a long stall (12wks) and I know I am to blame for that. I have started weighing out everything and with the warmer weather I am hoping to get some more exercise on the weekends - mowing the yard, bicycling, walking my dog...

@@kmorri - Dr Uchal!!! I am a patient 10+ months post. I didn't have a lot of post-op issues so I would say take a couple of days to recoup from surgery. I had surgery at St Vincents Southside on a Wednesday and could've been back at work on Monday. I was bored. Walking around the house was old by the following week. I came home Thursday and slept-in Friday until about 7am and was up and moving. I was graduated to pureed food on Saturday and had a scrambled egg with cheese and I haven't looked back. I returned on the following Monday so I was 12 days post. I would take a l-o-n-g weekend or at least a week and see how you feel about 4-5 days out. I also have a very mobile physical type job and I think the moving/walking at work made my recovery much better.

What do you eat in the mornings to get your protein in?
jane13 replied to cal2okl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
EAS Protein drink (I take my meds with that) and followed by a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese walmart or dannon light and fit yogurt with 1/2 scoop unflavored protein to get total of 30 grams string cheese and lunch meat sometimes a protein bar - trying to cut back on them. New fav is the power crunch salted caramel with a cup of coffee. -
Do we change as we loose weight? Opinions please ...
jane13 replied to MrsKarenC2008's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel the same way as @sizesevenpp. @MrsKarenC2008 - I do not think I have changed dramatically but I do feel more 'physical' in the sense that I am doing more and I feel more confident (really comfortable) doing more physical type things. WLS has been the best gift to myself. I want to enjoy the last 30-35 years I have left (I am 53). -
@@Dub - you are.... W~I~C~K~E~D ... lickety split... ;D

@@Sophie74656 - if he comes crawling back like AvaFern mentioned, and he probably will, DONT take him back! My ex did and I stupidly took him back. Within a day or two realized I had screwed up and about 3 months later I left for a battered womans shelter with my two kids 3 days before Christmas. Taking back the 180lbs of "best friend hubby" is like re-gaining weight, post WLS, NOOOoooooOOoooooOoooo!

@@PissiChrissi - it will happen when it happens... I started my journey 11/2014 and called it off about 6 weeks later. Waited about a month and started over and had to wait for a req nutrition class to cycle back around again. I had to do one, a month ;( Keep working your pre-op plan and before you know it the date will be set and you will be on your way!

Unflavored (or preferably flavorless) protein powders
jane13 replied to farooforever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I added some Unjury unflavored to some gingerbread I made and it went unnoticed by the family. I don't care for the Isopure I bought unless it is mixed with something that has a strong smell. The Isopure has an odor I didn't notice with the Unjury. -
@@Sophie74656 - so there was a question in there??? I only got out of this that your husband is inviting a female over to cook dinner. Are you two still living in the same house? If you are separated why do you care who he has over for dinner? Move on - - you sound like you would be much better off with a goldfish.
-
yes. But I do think like everyone else that if it was a murder I would probably want to maybe get the sleeping bag and check it out before hand. The experience that Dub mentioned I have had before, along with waking up with the lights on in my house that were OFF when I went to sleep. The lights was twice, that was weird. I also have felt someone sit on the bed next to me. I woke up and could kind of "sense" who it was and why he was there. I believe its possible but I was never scared.

@@VSGAnn2014 - You know the saying what doesn't kill you makes you stronger? He did threaten to kill a family member (final straw) and threatened to take his own life. Very sad. His GF said that folks with that kind of tumor are usually incarcerated or in a mental institution. He was like Jekyll-Hyde. Its been almost 16 years...

Protein frustration?!?
jane13 replied to princessprotein's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I love the unjury unflavored because no smell (to me) and it mixes really well. I just wish they sold larger bottles with a little savings. I have a 3lb container of Isopure unflavored and it has a smell to me, so I am mixing a half a scoop with my 13gr of Protein yogurt to get more protein and when this tub is gone I will go back to Unjury. -
Pregnant 1 Year Post-Op - Reintriducing Myself
jane13 replied to beachgurl84's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Eating for two is what they said for years and IMHO its a bad excuse for a pregnant woman to have food and overeat. Just a bit of Old Lady advice...and you already have the right idea, eat proportionately and eat healthy! -
@@bsanders - did you see your doctor or did he just give you another week off? I am asking because I had lost enough weight with pre-op diet and being post-op (around 3 weeks) that my BP was dropping really low and I was on meds for it. Check your BP and make sure you are staying hydrated. If your BP is low contact your doctor!
-
Its funny how differing our post op diets are, I had surgery on a Wednesday and a scrambled egg on Saturday! I didn't eat oatmeal until about 2-3 months out but that was because it was too hot last summer and I was in a 25' RV for about 3 weeks post-op. I live in Florida. Good luck and keep in line with your doctors post op guidelines!

@@Lexigurl82 - my ex "in-laws" turned their back to me and our two children. They had to blame someone and I guess me putting up with him cheating on me, verbal abuse, not working most of the 12 years we were together didn't have any bearing on my decision to lose 180lbs of stress/drama/etc. Fast forward about 7 years and he was sick and dying from a malignant brain tumor and they didn't even call to tell me he had passed away. I APPEARED at the funeral and both of his parents were all over me and the kids like we had been in touch all along. It was so surreal. His GF was awesome and welcomed us like family to the house they shared and gave my kids some of his personal effects. We had never met until that day and my kids visit her and I told them to keep the contact with her because she could fill in the blanks for those 7 years. Julie is awesome and my kids have another person who loves them - cant beat that! After he died you would have thought they would have tried to keep some contact with a 9 and 14 y/o - NOPE :/ Their loss.

@@nyhila - so what did he say about weight restriction? how much/how long? I came back to work 12 days after surgery. I am required to lift 40lbs by myself. About a week after being back I picked up something that weighs about 50lbs, not thinking about the surgery because I felt so good. I felt it later. After that, I followed the lifting restrictions to the letter. I was allowed 40lbs around 2 months. My co-worker willingly stepped in for me so I could do my job and not be at home (not getting paid either). He was 27 at the time and yelling at me for lifting ANYTHING, for well past the two months criteria. Better safe, than a trip to ER or OR ~

@@DirtyyMelodies - what a loser! breaks up with you on FB? Consider HIM your first NSV (Non scale Victory) - you just LOST 180lbs (guessing) of useless weight! Focus on you! welcome little sister to the BP Sleeve family ((((hug))))

May '15 Sleevers .... almost a year!
jane13 replied to WorkinOnMe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@WorkinOnMe - we are about the same stats, how are you doing getting towards those last few pounds? @@Kathi66 - I also stalled for about 3 months and just started seeing the scale move again. What kind of back issue are you dealing with? Impending surgery? -
If you are in PAIN, YES!!! I am sure you have a post-op appt, right? Call doctor about lifting (stop until then) and see doctor as they are the guys with the medical training. You are probably fine but 35lbs is a bit much IMHO. I am not a doctor, or pretending to be one...just a sister sleever who thinks you need to hold off on lifting that much this soon.
-
If it was like mine it is for information purposes. You will be presented with all of the options and hopefully opportunities to ask questions and meet post-op patients. I was able to schedule an appt to meet with my surgeon a week later. At that appt I was set up for pre-op testing and the req classes my insurance has for WLS. The insurance will play a factor too. write down questions before and write down answers at seminar for later when you get a one on one with surgeon. good luck!
