The Re-NEW Start to My Journey
jane13 replied to danaadoo's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
@@danaadoo - welcome young lady! I wish you the best of luck with the surgery date. Start working that pre-op diet now just in case they can get you in earlier. Make sure your possible weight loss doing the pre-op won't affect your coverage. -
@@mrsdoubtfire - if they make you re-weigh. I would leave my keys in my pockets, wear heavy thick clothes, shoes, put in earrings, wear rings on every finger...maybe put a roll or two of pennies in my bra....

People Who Get Skin Surgery Nowhere Close To Goal
jane13 replied to Proud2BMe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@Proud2BMe - I have seen where I thought it was a bit pre-mature but that's the doctors decision. If the skin is removed to help mobility or prevent sores I understand that, but for vanity - I don't see why the rush into surgery. About 10yrs ago my OB/GYN mentioned me getting a breast reduction. I was probably about 20lbs heavier than I am now. I had considered it but I also have read that the closer to healthier weight is better for a breast reduction. Why? Because breast tissue generally stores fat and if I had surgery at 200lbs and then lost 35lbs (close to my target weight) the surgery would need to be repeated because "the girls" would probably deflate. Weight comes off everyone at different places and at different times. I have gained pretty much over my entire body and when I lose it tends to come of my stomach first, legs/arms next....boobs last. -
Thank you ladies for answering. I didn't want to enter into the "Vet" area without some sort of reassurance. I agree we are all still learning as our WL journey has a lot of twists and turns. I don't answer a lot of posts but I do read them. I try to welcome the newbies and answer the "Topics with No Reply" so no one feels ignored. Sometimes <eye roll> I cant, "Bless their hearts, they just don't get it" ~~~~~~~

@@csawesome don't let the scale rule you. Make a mental note, think about what you did, or didn't eat the last couple of days (did I eat a lot of salt filled food, get my Protein in, did I make good food choices). And move on~ What is on the scale TODAY can be from what you ate a couple of days ago. pizza tends to add a few lbs for me. I rarely eat it and NOW its thin crust but it does stall the scale. So does pork rinds, nuts, cheese, pre-packaged deli thin lunchmeat...

Ted Bundy was a good looking man and look at what he did here in Florida. He was even trolling through the area right by the junior high I went to in 1976/78 looking for girls to pick-up. Perverts/killers are everywhere unfortunately, just in the shadows until they are caught unfortunately.

@@csawesome - the NSVs are THE best in my book. I love the scale moving, because I am a scale junkie, but I REALLY love the NSVs! Did you measure yourself? A lot do, I didn't, but I do have a pair of shorts that I was wearing that were tight pre-WLS.

@Believe16" as the above post reads ^ the complications could have been deadly. you are "Believe16" - have faith, it will happen when it happens - keep prepping, just in case they can get you in early June. That will be here, in no time, your seat is saved <pats bench>. Patience young grasshopper, believe....

It really is about what I want...
jane13 replied to Sparkles!!'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@ - its your life, your "tool" for WL and your journey....make sure you can say yes to all of that or you are NOT ready. We are here~ I was lucky to have support from 99% of the people I told - my adult daughter (29) was the one against it that played a major role in my initial decision. She didn't like me doing anything permanent like the sleeve or bypass. I was on board for the band (for her) and got frustrated with doctors office and backed out Dec 2014. Went one month, hit my HW 282, and said screw that and went with my original plan (sleeve) and I haven't looked back, NO REGRETS! Well, one regret - that I DIDNT DO IT EARLIER ;P -
@@trishrnyoung - Stalls are part of the process - expect, them...EMBRACE them...measure yourself, you may be losing inches. The losing inches is a NSV (NON scale Victory) - those are THE best. I am allowed some Miralax, if needed. Keep Water with you all day, in the car, at work, at home (sip, sip, sip). you "got this" Welcome to the family and the losers bench!

@@GSleeve822 - are you eating pureed? Are you sure you are not over eating? Measure out a small amount, chew very well, wait a few minutes then eat another bite, chew well... follow your doctors orders and contact their office to be safe - always seek professional help FIRST. Make sure you are doing everything your medical team directed you to do and on that timeline, that could be the problem too.

Not drinking enough water...but I'm not thirsty
jane13 replied to Foxy_lady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
sometimes I don't seem to be as thirsty as other times but you have to drink water to maintain hydration and it definitely helps with the WLS. drink first if you feel hungry, just in case you are eating first. thirst mimics hunger so keep that in mind. -
@@imala74 - embrace the stall...search for the link on BP. Remember stalls are going to come and go. Some are longer some are just a few days. STAY OFF THE SCALE! measure yourself, find a piece of clothing from before WLS and try them on...NSVs (non-scale victories) are the BEST! especially when the scale isn't moving. STAY Focused!
