  1. @@Ruth1ess - ok, REALITY CHECK! you had surgery 4 days ago - - - are you running a temp? IMHO, and I am not a doctor, I would give it another day or so. Take the pain meds if you need them. Are you applying heat/ice to the site? What were your instructions? Call your doctor. Ask them if the norm is to be 4 days post and uncomfortable and go from there. They are the professionals, and if you need to go back in to see them they will tell you.

    Should I be worried?

@@deanna2178 - did you also drink while eating? Mashed potatoes goes through the stomach pretty quickly and if they are kind of soupy it would be quicker. Why were you eating mashed potatoes? Carbs? I know every doctor is different but like the OP said Protein needs to be first, especially now. Greek yogurt would no doubt have the same consistency as the mashed potatoes but the protein would benefit you in more ways I ate soft scrambled eggs. I ate a little over 1/2 of 2 eggs scrambled, with cheese! YUM (still a go to favorite) STAY off the scale - you are only two weeks. You may still be purging the surgery meds - Contact your NUT and make sure you are eating the right amount and type of foods. I was told to focus on eating small amounts of protein for the first 14days, stay hydrated and move! Welcome to the losers bench!
  3. @@j16 - unfortunately I don't think it is as cut and dry as yes before and yes after...age, gender, amount to lose, amount of exercise, etc all play a role. I use to drop weight pretty easily until I hit my forties <<<screeching tires sound>>>> then it seemed like I could lose 10, but gain 15 in a heartbeat After about 10years of that I weighed in at 282, and WLS has been my tool, I am SOOOOO THANKFUL! The honeymoon period (when most drop the most weight) restriction, eating 100% to the letter, etc is first and foremost I lost a larger amount. From HW in Feb 2015 to surgery date - 16lbs. From surgery to about 6months (November) another 60 +/- pounds. It had slowed since November. I take blame for that as I have been off-track and got back on track about 4-6 weeks ago and started seeing movement again on the scale. Stalls are inevitable - EMBRACE them - stay focused. Jane
  4. @@TimeIsMine which surgery? I am assuming sleeve, that's a really low BMI. what is Hchol, high cholesterol? good luck, keep posting:)

    NSV: Half Marathon!

what a great mom/son experience and an awesome NSV!
  6. @@kat27641 I realize you found the weight range as you posted there but the 50s group is good too:) a lot of newbies don't realize there are other forums more specific...I was not trying to be a smart@ss, and I apologize if it came across that way. WELCOME to the BP family.
  7. @@PhoenixMarie it really depends on your insurance. I would talk to them on Monday. is there a nutritionist that you can talk too as well? if you are exercising and eating right then you may need to bump the calories up a bit and really watch the carbs.

    Starting out

@@Tayfusion304 - WELCOME there's a forum for insurance you may want to post there too!
  11. I work with a bunch of guys and maybe that's why I don't hear a lot of comments. I didn't share my WLS for about 4 months and then they started asking if I was ok, was I sick, was everything ok at home...I explained my surgery to them. they will occasionally ask if I am really full on a cup of yogurt. at Christmas they were surprised when I ate with them. we paid for a preordered meal. I of course had 3 meals worth but they didn't even realize that. point is that is you shouldn't feel awkward eating your lunch no matter how little or large. don't let their questions make you feel out of place. change the subject and keep eating your yogurt!
  12. I was 52 when I had surgery and I have lost 100 from my HW. there are forums for certain age and weight groups here on BP. ISG has really done a great job with her surgery and her suggestions for success were spot on- WELCOME and keep us posted!
  13. You have survived a lot since WLS. CONGRATULATIONS! a SIZE 10???? Woo HOOOOOOO! My life has been about the same - a lot of struggles with two adult sons and it has affected my WL and I know it. Our stats are about the same (don't forget to update your current weight) except I am a bit taller. I will Celebrate my surgiversary on 5/6/2016 and I am within about 15 of my BMI goal. I hope to make that by mid-summer or atleast get into the 160s.
  14. @@B_D - One you get over the hump of the pre-op diet, it is easier. Focus on the new life you will be blessed with
  15. ouch! just reading the post about BA makes me shiver. I am thinking about it but I am no where ready. I have always had large boobs and I would like to be more in the large C, small D range. Like @@amazon I want to fill the loose skin but don't want the fake boob part. I am researching just a lift at my age 53, I just don't want them at my pantie line :|
  16. @@B_D - Everyone is correct the first few days are the worst - keep your eyes on the prize (WLS). I have saved your seat, on the LOSERS bench!!!! They removed all of the advertisements for food where the newbies sit post-op...otherwise there would be a lot of fights! The pre-op is for your safety - it doesn't last forever and when you get to eat (chew) your first meal it will be amazing

    The Payoff

That's the phase I am hoping for soon. I am still getting the "are you, ok?" questions...
  18. I was very unhappy with losing 10lbs and then re-gaining 15. I KNEW the weight was going up and up and at 51 there was nothing that seemed to help me get the weight off. When I had stopped the pre-op insurance required classes and in a matter of about 6 weeks gained about 10 lbs. I had completed 1 of 3 monthly classes and backed out because the ladies in the office were questioning my lap-band choice (long story). That was mid-December and I was about 272. By mid-January I was at 282 and realized 300 was the next number I was going to see on the scale. I called up and got back into the rotation and went to my original plan to do the sleeve and I haven't looked back~~~~~ NO REGRETS!

    Stall......

@@danica579 - are you weighing everything out? Mindless snacking?? Salt filled foods? Have you measured yourself pre-WLS and compared to today? When some of us stall (like me) we lose inches vs pounds. That can go on for a couple of weeks. If you are working out you may need to bump up your calories a bit and then really watch the carbs.
  20. @@Leesa926 - I am also a Uchal patient. He is great, tough, but very good. The only thing I didn't agree with was the fruit comment that I was also told about 4 months out. I asked him if I could do veggies instead and he said yes. Fruit has a lot of natural sugars and you may want to watch that as well. Where did you have your surgery?
  21. @@bevewhite - turn the tables on them - and ask how can they eat ALL of the food they have on their plate - there are starving children that Sally Struthers is still trying to feed or is it Scarlett Johansen... Is their a cafeteria monitor at your school, uh...job? You may ask them that as well - if they are the cafeteria monitor.... When I was a kid they use to check to see if you were eating all of your food. I am old enough to remember the 'clean your plate' rule from school. My folks liked us to at least try some of the not so favorite stuff that was on the table but we were not hounded to clean the plate thank God! "Bless their hearts" sorry....rant over....

    How did you sleep?

I slept pretty much the same, except that I had a pillow infront of my stomach. Just in case I coughed or hubby was moving around. The hard part was sitting up. I realized that quickly and learned to roll to my side and push to a sitting position while my legs were hanging over the side of the bed. I have a tempurpedic too, but mine in pretty firm. I did my post-op in a 25' RV because we were completing our house.
  23. I have been on-line since before my journey began (Nov 2014) and I am almost 1 year post. I just don't know what timeline is consider a BP Vet. thanks, Jane
