@@kat27641 - good luck and keep us posted as your begin your prepping for surgery!

@@sherryk - Welcome to the other side! keep moving post-op~ NO REGRETS!

@@Dub - do you see your actual surgeon or a PA most of the time? just curious maybe I am in a unique group who gets to see the surgeon

@@Elode Ok. Then I am eating about the same as you are, but some days the carb monster takes over and its like PMS munchies all freakin' day.
So no implants at all? Just a reduction/lift?

My GF did BA about 15 yrs ago (post WLS) and they put in small implants to keep the girls 'perky' longer.

I am not looking for forever perky, just not:

UU

As little as you are now, and from what I can tell in the pictures pre-op BA, a 32C is probably perfect - you LUCKY girl!

@@Desiyah23 Its for your safety and you want an uneventful surgery....right? I had to do a stress test and I wasn't expecting that at all. I fortunately had no issues and actually learned that I did NOT have MVP (Mitro-Valve Prolapse). I was told that over 25 years ago and pre-medicated for dental cleanings and put it on all my medical history paperwork I had filled out for years. So testing is a GOOD thing Do you have a date yet?

You look fantastic! How close are you to goal? -
@@garciagiss - I disagree to a point. I don't know if a non bariatric specialized doctor would be able to address my WLS concerns. I have always seen my surgeon post-op, so others may say different. If you can see a bariatric doctor in the US for f/u care then check out Mexico, check with your insurance provider. I am sure people have moved post WLS and found other surgeons to do follow-ups with at their new place. Just sayin' Jane

@@chickee - hi! welcome to the BP family

@@wilson33 possibly and you are probably in a "stall". BE PREPARED, you will stall. embrace the stall. try on smaller clothes to see if they fit. you may be losing inches vs pounds. measure yourself if you haven't and when you 'stall" for a couple of days (or weeks - and yes it DOES happen) you will see why we say to "Embrace the stall". search BP theres a lot of embracing going on here =) welcome to the family newbie!

Does your sister f/u on her blood work? Call your doctors office and see what other options you have. I did some liquids and generic chewables for the first couple of weeks post-op. After a certain point I was allowed to take other forms of Vitamins. Just DONT stop taking the vitamins or doing follow up blood work. Post WLS, as sleevers, we don't get what we need especially in the first few weeks because we cant eat a lot and the vitamins really help. The bypass folks have less chance to absorb vital nutrients because of the re-routed stomach/intestines and that is something they have to monitor, and possibly supplement, for the rest of their life.

Giving up the scale...

@april2003 the info Bufflehead gave is also excellent - weigh out everything. -

Having SO on board is a tremendous help. I was lucky to have tremendous support from the start. To me was a big plus. I agree with taking him to a consultation or seminar and let him know its his time to ask the professionals about WLS. He may have fears/concerns that can be answered so let him ask his questions.

@@Elode - how much can you eat of dense food? A cup? I am curious you are ahead of me by a few months surgery-wise and I know I can eat a full cup (sometimes) depending on the food. Can you give me an example? How are the "girls" looking size wise? I have REALLY thought about your recent "do" and I am thinking about it. Did BCBS Fed cover it?

May 10th Surgery Date!
jane13 replied to tallow2102's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@tallow2102 - You are on the way to a healthier life, congrats! Ask about how late the night before you can drink. I was told later (midnight) by the surgical nurse than by the office staff and I was thankful. -
Surgery date June 6th. Panic.
jane13 replied to gmole85's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@gmole85 - I was scared too. See if they can give you something to take on the way to the hospital so it will take the edge off the anxiety. that's why I wanted to be the first in the OR. I didn't want to wait in pre-OP. You will be fine. Do as you are told pre-op and post-op. ASK questions. Write them down so you don't forget! I was told I could hydrate as late as midnight and I was thankful for that as well. -
@@biglady904 - you will be fine. get moving as soon as possible and do what they tell you at the hospital and at home. Riverside or Southside? Both are excellent - I was at Southside.

@@twins2016 - just remember whatever you decide to do, that most people cant keep secrets so if you DONT want anyone to know then keep it to yourself. Sad, I know....

How to get my water in?
jane13 replied to fullyalive's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@fullyalive - IMO key thing is the Protein so you will stay healthy and the Water is also a big factor especially early out because you do not want to get dehydrated. I would sip water and only 'consume' (eat/drink) protein on a scheduled basis...meaning if it had been atleast 3-4 hours I would "consume' (drink) a Protein shake. Depending on who you ask, ANY liquid counts towards your fluids for staying hydrated. Just follow your doctors orders and call them for validation. I would still not drink anything for about 20-30 after I drank a protein/liquid type meal. Good luck and welcome to the other side! -

@@Ashoryb - maybe contact the office manager.

I had sort of a similar situation and backed out of surgery because of a couple of people on the staff at the office. After I stewed on it for a few days I decided to call the office manager. As it turned out apparently I was not the only one who had a complaint and felt uncomfortable with the office staff. My surgeon was NOT the problem.

My call, and the names I gave, confirmed the staff was out of line.
