@@KindaFamiliar - what would we do without our mate???? I wouldn't want to find out Ah "family"~~~loving/arguing ... bonded by our experiences. Its all good...

    Fu*%ing awkward

@@jenn1 - great decision to put the focus to something positive (Race for the Cure) instead of some HOA drama. You are better than them...scr3w em!

    Divorce after WLS?

22 years strong as of about 3 weeks ago - I am blessed. He has been my partner since day 1. I also kept him informed from the very beginning and asked for his input/fears/concerns about me undergoing surgery.

    Scared out of my mind

@165B445 - exactly ^ That's why I love my sleeve (been a year) and other than eating less I haven't really changed my diet 180degrees. I am a carb girl so I eat a couple of chips occasionally, or a piece of a cheddar bay biscuit at Red Lobster, but I don't really miss it.

    Surgery "bag" ?

@@QuinnsMum - Welcome! I don't know about your particular needs but I wore in what I wore home, comfy loose pants/shirt, sports bra, etc. I only took my cell phone charger and cell phone, clean panties, deodorant, toothbrush & paste, glasses, contact lens case & pillow. They pretty much provided everything else. I walked the floors in hospital attire and the gripped footies they provided. I wasn't allowed anything to drink until the leak test the next day. I was really thankful for the pillow (hug to your tummy) on the way home. I had chapstick and never used it - but I did use my pillow for sleeping and hugging Jane
  7. @@Lucilla post #9, that you posted, if you are reading and not posting - you said your doctor was fine with your weight loss. YOU thought you would lose more. The answer is in your own post (#9), we ALL lose at different rates Good luck!
  8. I have been to two Chinese restaurants and they seem to both think I am nuts for "no rice". Still got the rice once and the other time I was charged extra for broccoli even though I was told by waitress I could substitute. I haven't tried the "no bun" on a BigMac (etc). Like ISG I also think its funny the difficulty in ordering, for a drink, water

    I am so lost!

I was told the same thing about the Protein and how much can be absorbed. I agree with the other about making yourself first, you have to think about your health. Carry a Water bottle and sip throughout the day and look for some protein water to get the protein in throughout the day. I eat a cup of greek yogurt and add about 1/2 a scoop of the unflavored 26 grams of protein and get atleast 25 grams of protein and about 150 calories. Mom, you cant NOT take care of yourself, esp if your husband is overseas.
  10. @@Freckles70 - this is very normal. try to think about how much healthier you are going to be losing the extra weight. He is 7, you will be chasing grandbabies in twenty years. Praying for you. Understand I am a lot older and my 'baby' was 23 when I had this surgery last year and I still worried... NO REGRETS!

    In the first month

@@TamaraRae - it varies so DON'T compare and get frustrated. I lost 21lbs about a month out. Measure yourself NOW @1cutiejulie mentioned inches will not necessarily show up on the scale. Those are NSVs!

    13 days post op

@@moppet - the OP was right about not 'eyeballing' the amounts. If you put too much in your stomach you will know it - Take a bite, chew well, swallow and then wait a couple of minutes - repeat. Contact your WLS team about this but IMHO you may/may not be able to eat all of it - DO NOT FORCE yourself to eat. The @mention below the OP screen name to the left will automatically put @____ in your reply, or you can type it. There is also the option in the tools at the top for PM. Welcome!

@@kmorri - Hey neighbor and fellow Uchal patient! I am also from the 'burg! @@Rvamom - you will be fine. I hate them too and I wished I had not waited to do the surgery, I am 1 year 3 days post and have NO REGRETS!

    Crazy liquid diet

@@findingnish - its so you can have a safe uneventful surgery. They are the professionals and my suggestion is to do as they ask, even though it is insane. Hand in there, most of us have "been there and done that" and survived. Hangry is a great word too (Hungry+Angry)!

    Why do people regain

Like @@KindaFamiliar said, this is a great thread! WLS is a TOOL which is ONLY useful when it is worked. It (tool) cannot work by itself.

    Health at every size...

@@theantichick - I had surgery 1 year ago (at 52) TODAY, all I am going to add, is my thoughts on VSG at 53. wished I had done it earlier HW 282 CW 177 "stoopid" ROTFLMAO love it!

    My doc never mentioned this..

I have never vomited or dealt with the "foamie" thing. I have TWICE wished I could vomit. I also don't suffer from reflux. About 3weeks post op, I ate one too many bites of food at a restaurant. Got sweaty, knot in throat and went to bathroom and proceeded to try to vomit. Then I thought to myself 'what am I doing, I am only 3 weeks post and my stomach is healing'. I went back to the table and started sipping small amounts of Water to help get the food through my stomach. About 45 minutes later I was fine. I thought I had learned my lesson. Nope. Did it one other time about a month later. I haven't done it since.

    Scared of the gym

If it is chasing the kids at the park its still exercise. Get a badminton set, play kick ball, tag, hide & seek - put the smaller kids in a wagon and pull them (then they aren't running off). Just don't reward yourself with food after "playing".
  21. jane13

    Happy moment

@@Griggs2alr - the small goals are the BIGGEST ones sometimes. Keep trying on clothes you haven't worn for NSVs. Don't forget to measure yourself NOW for the stalls that will mess with your head. Inches "lost" are SO much fun to lose
  22. Pork rinds bagged up in serving size zip locks is another option. I keep the little packets of Crystal Light type drinks in the all three cars, so I won't be without something to flavor Water. Everyone gave you great ideas and @@Daisee68 pointed out something I have been doing at work. I put my stash in my locker which is about 150ft away or I will eat Snacks all day. Nuts are so easy to eat too many of unless I hide the rest.

    Newbie

Yep. You are still healing. Make a list of these type of questions and ask at your follow-up. Contact them today and ask, to be safe, and any other post-op questions before they are gone for the weekend.
