Ok so whatever you do don't order the Vitaleph Shakes. They are wretched! The chewable chocolate probiotics are good but the shakes, so much eww. And no refund or return policy. -

It was not hard for me to find the prices for OCC and they quoted me after a simple email inquiry. I didn't have to sign anything to get my price so they can't be too worried about disclosure. I had the plication for $6500. As usual, prices are subject to change. -

Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Zzzombrie replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The body naturally fluctuates in weight due to water retention and wastes. Weight is not a very good assumption of gains. Body fat percentage would be a much more accurate measurement of gains. You'd still have to account for standard deviations and dismiss any data that falls within that range. Studies and reports are based on real people but can be easily conducted poorly. -

Mine started Christmas Eve. 3 protein shakes a day with coconut almond milk and all the veggies I want. I'm down 13lbs and hit the prescribed weight loss for surgery. My muscles hurt the most and getting warm is hard. I can also smell everything! So weird. 2 more days then clear liquids only before surgery. Surgery 1/7 at OCC. -

I think of it like this, I'm more afraid of continuing to live with the complications of being obese than I am about anything this surgery could do to me. -

Woohoo! Survived the holidays on the pre-op liquid diet. Last night was especially hard. I caught myself attempting to bargain plenty of times and still overcame. One more week! -

. I'm drinking muscle milk for liquids. First 3 days were hell. Headaches, body aches, usual detox symptoms. But my body is dropping weight fast and pushing out ickies in my skin. I'm starting to feel smaller in my clothes. -

I'll be there for the 7th. Mostly excited. I look at before and after photos and can't wait to have one. -
"Body dysmorphia”, is that a real thing? If not it should be. You must be model height. I'm an 18 at your current weight. I'm 5'6".

I'm having the hardest time getting warm on the pre-op liquid diet. My lower body hurts too. 3rd day in. It's going to be a gruelling next week and a half. Then 2 days all clear liquids. I miss meat already. Ugh -
So much has changed
Zzzombrie replied to happymama2014's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I can't wait for that feeling. I've got a little bit of that on pre-op but I still catch myself thinking about junk. Neuropathways change after surgery to rely less on food as a pleasure source. Hypothetically, this should be a common side effect of wls. If brain scans were part of the before and after treatment, we'd know for sure. -

Welcome to the world of a narcoleptic sister! Well sort of. Definitely the tired all day part. I'll probably be catatonic when I start my liquids tomorrow. -

I'm scheduled for Jan 7th with Dr. Ariel Ortiz. I have to switch from Atkins to 3 shakes a day with unlimited veggies tomorrow. I've got 5 lbs left to lose before surgery. I've also been having some trouble finding an incentive spirometer at the stores. Where'd you find one and how much did you pay? -

Veronica Page I actually did do old school Atkins complete with litmus pee sticks. I only lost 15 lbs in 6 months and was only on very low carb the entire time. At the end of it my organs started shutting down, I think it's called ketogenic syndrome or something. Regardless of what they preached, calories still count on Atkins. -

I haven't even started looking at shakes. I'm on Atkins too but it does nothing for me. I've been on it before for 6 months and didn't have any luck then either. I'm going to keep at it until after finals (another week) then switch to shakes and a low carb dinner. They want me to lose 12 lbs so I hope I can take it off with the shakes. Atkins just doesn't cut it. -

@@Veronica Page That's the worst when you have an issue and no diagnosis. I had to do a test overnight and throughout the next day to get my narcolepsy diagnosis. It took 5 misdiagnoses from GPs/PCPs, an intro to psychology class, and moving cross country to get mine. My biggest surgery day worry is the anesthesia. I've read that narcoleptic patients have a harder time regaining consciousness afterward. It may take hours for me to finally wake up. Still gotta talk to Dr. Ortiz about it. Currently on Atkins, and mostly hate it. No carb cravings but I'm bored to death and my body resists losing weight. Sticking with it to the end of the semester and then onto "slim fast" diet. -

Have you had this insomnia long? If so, you should have a sleep study done. I have much of the same problem and I'm a diagnosed narcoleptic. I too get hunger pangs throughout the night. I've learned that doing a few crunches puts enough pressure on my stomach to make them subside quick. -
Any 5ft5 30yr old woman who weighed about 250 before vsg have before & after pics without plastic surgery?
Zzzombrie replied to 2beorNot2be's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have heard that moisturizing is a big factor, but it's still very much genetics. If anyone has told you that you carry your weight well, I think that is a big indicator. I live in a hard water desert and it gives me lots of skin issues. Humid climates are just better for your skin. The rest of us must lotion up. Supplements are a must as well. I love hair, skin, and nails vitamins but I know others who swear by prenatals. -

I'm a little concerned about loose skin but only time will tell because every body is different. I did go from 205 - 145 very slowly over the course of 6 years when I was in my teens. I remember having an issue with my thighs but it eventually worked itself out. I just kept strength training and eating right. They say nothing is certain until after 2 years. I'm willing to have surgery if need be.
