Calling January Sleever????
Zzzombrie replied to time for june's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just want everyone going to get surgery from Dr. Ortiz to consider asking him about the sleeve plication. That's what I got and so far so good. -

You are going to do great! The first day is a little tough but not nearly as painful as surviving a lifetime of being unhealthy and obese. That's what I told myself. I'm so glad I did this and you will be too. This will be the first step you take in loving yourself. First steps are always a doozy but once you clear it you'll never look back. -
I'm also eating jello, sugar free popsicles, and drinking veggie juice. Try water enhancers and G2 or Powerade Zero. Also take powdered fiber. It's been my biggest mistake.

Your doctor should have given you a post op diet schedule. Shame on him if not. I'll go by mine to help you out. No mashed potatoes until day 18 post op. This is a pureed food. You can either dry blend your vitamins and take in a drink or get gummies/chewables and take 30 chews before swallowing. You should take vitamins for bariatric patients. You will do this for life. No swallowing pills whole until 30 days post op. You should be resting your stomach. I'm also on an acid blocker like Nexium for 2 months post op, calcium, B12, D3, and probiotics.

Stomach swelling will gradually go down for 6 weeks. It takes a while for organs to recoup. The liquid diet after surgery is to allow the stomach to heal by not working hard on digestion. I'm getting gas out just fine. 1/7 op date. Can't wait till pureed foods. One more week. If anyone knows of any good tasting protein mix let me know.

My friend had hers done with Blossom a day before me. So great to have a sleeve sister in all this. We're pretty close to each other's stats too. -
Hey girl. Finally went last night and it was dizzying! I don't think I'd gone in about 3 weeks and it was a nightmare to get out. Almost passed out! I'm going to start on Metamucil today to make sure I get regular. I'm also down 10#. Can't wait for pureed food.

@@NevadaDave I'm getting ready for school to start next week so I'm probably going to wait until after the first week. What time is Monday's meeting? -

I'm glad the vanilla works for you. I also use almond milk. Do the vanilla ones taste like vanilla? I know you add stuff to them. -
I haven't had any cramping the past 2 days in my right oblique. Thank goodness cause that was torture! I figured it was a pinched nerve in my back. I woke from surgery with some serious back pain. May have been from the gas or because I woke up hunched over. Idk. Now I'm having some stinging pain in my largest incision. Anyone else having a stall doing #2 because of liquids? Been over 2 weeks for me.

Did y'all know that when you're dehydrated your body releases a chemical that forces it to retain water? Get hydrated and you'll shed lbs like mad.

I didn't even get narcotics, just nsaids and children's Tylenol. 9 days post op and off both. I'm so glad I made this choice.

Try a nice bisque too

It sounds like your nausea was caused by the anesthesia and one it finally wore off, you felt better. A girl who had surgery the same day as me had the same problem. Everyone reacts differently. I couldn't get out of bed without my blood pressure dropping rapidly. That was horrible! It took me nearly 12 hours to start feeling right. My surgery was 1/7. I'm on full liquids but haven't had much luck with protein. Just can't get more than half a serving down and that still takes me an hour. Haven't started walking yet because of residual pain. Good luck!

Weight lifting
Zzzombrie replied to trulyamazingtoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think lifting up to surgery is a great idea. I had surgery at OCC in Mexico and they said 6 weeks. It takes the body 6 weeks to heal any injury so that may be why. -
Just had surgery on 1/7/15. Everything is fine except I've been experiencing some wicked muscle cramping in my right upper obliques. It started the day after surgery. I assume it was dehydration but I'm now wondering if my muscles got pulled from being inflated during surgery. Anyone else with this possible complication? I can't sit for over an hour and walking for more than 10 minutes aggravates it as well. Only thing that settles it is lying flat on my back on my memory foam mattress.
-
So I had the idea that we should post our stats monthly from day of surgery. It's nice to compare. I was supposed to start activity but my body just says NO. Resting another week then we'll see.
-
Found the board Yea! Sleeve plication at OCC on 1/7. My friend got a sleeve gastrectomy a day before me. Recovery has been similar. Although I think the tummy inflation pulled my right oblique muscle. Been having serious pain and spasms there.

I was only allowed drinkable yogurt. Real yogurt was said to be too taxing on digestion.

Stomach swollen almost shut after surgery
Zzzombrie replied to tara foster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They should be giving her saline and anti inflammatory drugs in the hospital. It happened to another patient I was with after her surgery but only the first night and she got a plication instead of gastrectomy. -

No clue. My surgeon used internal dissolve stitches and glue on top and I'm so grateful because I've had no issues. No pain.
