I went to the doctor on Friday and had 1/2 cc removed. I am all better. Afterwards, I remembered why I might have been affected by this fill. I went to the doctor last week and asked to be unfilled slightly so I could do a colonoscopy prep on Monday. I decided to do the osmoprep, which I highly recommend. But I needed to take 20 large pills in one hour and then 12 in the morning. The prep was much better than the liquid stuff they make you drink. However, I did the prep on Monday, had the colonoscopy on Tuesday and went to be filled on Thursday. I believe my stomach might have been irritated by the prep and therefore, wasn't happy to have been filled. I will go back in a month to be filled a little more. What a relief!

I went to the doctor on Friday and he removed 1/2 cc. I am all better. I think I know what happened. A week ago, I ask to be unfilled slightly so I could have a colonoscopy. The prep required me to swallow a total of 32 large pills. I had the colonoscopy on Tuesday and went for my fill on Thursday. I wonder if my stomach was irritated by the colonoscopy prep and that is why I had trouble when the doctor filled me on Thursday. I will go back in one month to be filled a little more.

Thank you. I think that is the problem. I am sipping on a cup of hot tea and it seems to be going down okay. I will call them this morning because I don't know their Friday hours and to give them the heads up. :wink2:
-
I know how frustrating it is when the food won't stay down, Jazzymom. Once I straighten out my latest problem , I think I might contact the nutritionist associated with the practice to see if she has any ideas. I'll let you know....

I called at 5 but got the answering service. I will call first thing in the morning. I feel hungry..... Thanks for your advice.

Thanks for the information. Liquids are staying down;however, I feel uncomfortable.

Most of my fills are done in the doctor's office and I have had only 2 fills under fluro and it was to make sure everything is okay. However, I had one fluro fill today and am finding liquids are bothering me. I think I might have to call the doctor tomorrow. Has anyone had this problem?

I had a fill under fluroscopy today. Everything seemed fine until I tried "eating". Since I am on liquids, I first tried a cup of hot tea. I felt uncomfortable right away and didn't finish it. Then late this afternoon I tried a Snapple Diet Ice Tea and am struggling getting it down. It isn't coming up, just not going down easily. I think I will call the doctor's office tomorrow morning. Has anyone had this problem? Tina

My doctor cancelled my April colonoscopy due to a conflict. I just rescheduled it for August 4. I requested the osmoprep and he approved. Luluc, did you cut the pills in half? I am going to see my lapband doctor tomorrow. I am thinking of asking him to unfill me for the procedure.

It has been a a long time since I have been on here. I am interested in the naked nuggets. How do you prepare them? Is anyone having trouble keeping good protein or good food down in general? I find sometimes it just doesn't want to stay down. Maybe I am swallowing too big a bite?? Thanks for your input. -

Question / Colonoscopy Prep
Beachcomber3 replied to hammer1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Years ago I had to drink Golytely and ended up vomiting during the prep. I called the surgeon and told him and he told me to come in anyway. Unfortunately, the prep failed and the procedure was not a success. The thought of drinking the HalfLytely makes me want to gag. Was your prep over the counter or a prescription? -
Hi, Do you remember the name of the pill prep? I went for a pre-consult and even though I told the doctor I was banded, he gave me a prescription for HalfLytely. My procedure isn't scheduled until April so I have time. I also have an appt with my lapband doctor in March so I will ask him, too. Do you remember what your prep is like? Thanks!

Question / Colonoscopy Prep
Beachcomber3 replied to hammer1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How did you make out? I just got my instructions and although I explained I was banded, the doctor gave me a 2 liter prep. I am so afraid of it. What did you end up using? I will ask my lapband doctor on my next visit to see if he has any other suggestions. My procedure is scheduled for April so I have some time to possibly find an alternative. -

It is my one year anniversary too! I have lost 35 lbs. I know exactly how you feel. Congrats to both of us for losing some weight. :crying: -
I know exactly how you feel. Something went wrong with my last fill....I just had an upper GI series and there is no restriction. I think maybe I was unfilled by mistake. I seem to be able to eat anything and can't stop it. I go back to the dr next week, but I have put on weight. YIKES! Congrats to you for regaining control. Tina

What is a banana scream protein drink? Sounds yummy! -
I ate the whole pork chop which was about 4 oz and some sugar free applesauce. I also had a tiny bit of salad. I was full but since I didn't experience any hiccups or tightening in my throat, I am assuming that I am not properly restricted. I put a call into the doctor. I am waiting for a call back. I met someone yesterday who lost 95 lbs. She joined Curves. So I called but it is pricey! My kids go to a full service gym and it is much cheaper. But I didn't like going to the gym when I had a mermbership years ago........
-
Thank you Janet. I am not upset I ate the pork chop because it was a lean piece of meat... what struck me was that it went down with no problem. Ususally when I have restriction, I get a funny feeling eating something that really needs to be chewed and then end up in the bathroom. But I have to tell you...it is nice not having that feeling which ends up having me slime or PB. I will start tracking my calories. I need an easy to use website. I'll try both and see which one is best. Thanks again for all the tips. I think it was important for me to admit this to someone. Maybe I will be more responsible for my actions!

I am feeling sorry for myself tonight. I had a fill on 8/27. My doctor was out as he had surgery and the nurse practitioner did the fill. At first, she thought she was going to have trouble finding the port. Lucky for me, she found it the first time she inserted the needle. She said I had the 2.5 cc's in my 4 cc band and she added another .5 cc's. However, I have no restriction! I was waiting for it to kick in but nothing.....now I am eating to eat. I ate a pork chop tonight and had no problems getting it down. I have not slimed or PB'd since the fill. I am craving chocolate. Needless to say, I am frustrated and afraid I will gain weight. I guess I will have to contact the doctor's office. Could I have a leak? Thanks for listening.

I have a similar problem. I had my surgery on 2/11/08 and went for my 4th fill on 8/27. The doctor was out due to ankle surgery and the nurse practitoner did the fill. She had trouble finding my port but found it the first time she inserted the needle. She pulled out the 2.5 cc and added another .5 to make it 3 cc in my 4 cc band. I have no restriction and now no will power. I wonder what went wrong???? I will have to call soon since I am developing bad habits again and am craving chocolate! I feel so confused and upset.... I really need a good kick in the butt!!! -
Where is all the CT Lapbanders??
Beachcomber3 replied to kidder136's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am having a hard time with my band. I think something went wrong with my last fill on Aug. 27 and I have no restriction. I am craving bad food, like chocolate and feel like I have no will power. I need to call the doctor but unfortunately he only sees patients on Wednesdays and those are bad days for me workwise. I live in Fairfield County. Does anyone know of a good nutritionist, food counselor and or psychologist that you could recommend? Thanks for listening. -

EbonyRose, Good luck with all the appts. I have heard good things about Dr. Bell and his group. I am impressed that you are incorporating the exercise into your lifestyle. That will really help you post-op. Let me know how you make out. -

EbonyRose, Who is your surgeon? I went to Dr. Nadzam at St Raphael's. Had it done on 2/11 and have lost almost 30 lbs. It is a lot slower than I thought but I do need to exercise. Good luck!
