Did anyone have to take Atenolol pre-op? It is a beta-blocker. They told me to take it one week pre-op which I started yesterday but I am not sure why I am taking it. I am putting a call into the office today.

Yes, I had to start taking it one week pre-op and on the day of surgery as well as post-op. I called and spoke to the nurse and she said it was because I have a history of hypertension. When is your surgery?

Are you getting nervous? I am. I am from Connecticut. Did you have any pre-op diet or meds to take? Is your surgery on Feb 11th? Mine is also. Where are you from? I am from ohio

I called and I was told I had a history of hypertension and it is to protect my heart. Guess it is better to be safe than sorry.

I am on the 11th. Is that close enough? Tina

I am being banded in New Haven CT by Dr. Geoffey Nadzam on 2/11. I have heard of Dr. Artuso. A former colleague of mine had gastric by-pass by Dr. Artuso and says he is wonderful! Good luck to us all! BTW. I am done 4 lbs. since starting my 1000 calorie pre-op diet on Monday. Tina

CTMAN: Good luck with your approval! I had to do a 6 mth weight loss program before the office would submit my paperwork to Healthnet. I seriously thought about going to your group but decided against it because I would have to pay out of network. I hear such wonderful things about them. I started my 1000 pre-op diet yesterday. Mattie86, Thanks for your reassurance. I just returned from the pre-op seminar with Chris and Diana. I believe that was my last requirement before surgery. I had the endoscopy last Friday. Dr. Nadzam was great...really reassuring. I start the 1000 calorie diet on Monday. Do you have any suggestions? Tina

I am scheduled for the lapband on Monday, Feb. 11 at St. Raphael's Hospital in New Haven, CT. I had my endoscopy and priority testing and will attend a seminar tomorrow night. I start my 1000 calorie liver shrinking diet on Monday, Jan. 28. Good luck to us all! Tina

I got two restaurant gift certificates for Christmas. I made sure I enjoyed these last dinners before my pre-op diet. I ordered foods that I thought I may never enjoy again!

Hi Everyone, I will be banded on 2/11 at St. Raphael's in New Haven by Dr. Nadzam. I had my pre-op tests on Friday, which included an endoscopy, EKG, chest x-ray, blood work, physical, and meeting with an anesthesia nurse. I have to attend one last pre-op meeting which will be held on Wednesday. My pre-op diet will begin on Jan. 28 and consists of a 1000 calorie diet, which is designed to shrink the liver. I am excited and nervous and hope I can successfully manage this tool. Good luck to us all! :biggrin: Tina
