  1. I was wondering how much other people had lost before people started to notice. My starting weight was in the high three hundreds. Between the pre-op program and sleeve (end of November) I have lost about seventy-seven pounds. So far it doesn't seem anyone has noticed. I know I have a long way to go. It's a little discouraging though. So when did people notice your loss? Thanks.
  2. I was wondering if anyone may be interested in women's clothing in US size 4X or 30/32. Also some 28 available. I have several pieces from business casual to casual. A few with tags and some only worn once. So far I haven't found any consignment shops to take these sizes. Thanks in advance.
  3. Thanks. I'll look it up.

    Hairloss and Hairstyles

My hair is coming out by the handful. Taking Biotin, multivitamin, and getting in protein. Even had my thyroid meds adjusted. The only good thing is my fingernails look fabulous again.

Can you MAKE me feel worse?

I worked in a cardiology office for a bit. We would have never treated a client that way. It is unacceptable. Surgical scars, in fact any scars, are proof that you are a survivor. They are like a badge of honor that you have been through the battle and come out alive. I would suggest that since this was in a hospital you report it to patient relations. Every hospital has a department that is specifically for situations like this. They educate the staff and when needed disciplinary action may be taken. No patient should be made to feel that they are a freak. I think the staff involved need to be educated on patient respect and proper treatment. Remember you are not a freak. You are a survivor and should be treated with respect. I doubt these medical "professionals" would handle half of what some patients go through with such bravery. Hugs to you, and a virtual smack to the back of the head for the hospital staff.

You know you lost weight when

Not alone. My better half suddenly realized there was no ring on. Of course we had just packed up from doing a craft show in a major civic center. My heart stopped thinking it was gone. Very happy to find it in the bottom of the pocket. I said stop wearing it before I have a heart attack.

    Any delaware sleevers?

Hi everyone. I'm in lower slower. Had surgery at PRMC in November. Loved my surgeon Dr. Waked. I saw the posts about the support group in Camden. Does anyone know if there are any near Seaford? Also are well behaved children welcome? I have special needs kids so getting a sitter is impossible. They really are good. In fact when I went for a nutrition class the doctor didn't even know they were there until they stood up to leave. Thanks in advance.
  10. Dr. Tarek Waked Salisbury, Md. He is moving into a new office soon but has a Facebook page. He is so good I let him operate on my spouse too. There are a couple of other bariatric doctors in the area. I have met them briefly. Their approach is much different and I don't think we would have gotten along well. I do better with a coach instead of a drill sergeant. Only my opinion.
  11. So our surgeon (spouse and myself ) explained that it wasn't the dinner. It was most likely something from lunch or earlier. Apparently our sleeves can get finicky and the yogurt went through but something else was lurking at the exit. Since the lurking offender is blocking the exit our saliva and water have no choice but to come back the wrong way. It can be ugly, violent and unexpected. Both of us have had this happen. Not pretty and it makes you very unhappy with your sleeve. The worst part is it's happened with foods that have gone through fine before. Hopefully you can think back to earlier meals and find the culprit.
  12. You are not alone. Totally with you. I know what I should be doing but the emotional part keeps getting the best of me. This great group of people here are helping me. I hope you start to feel the same way.

    Complicated Surgery

Sorry to hear people were so negative about your other post. It's probably a knee jerk reaction to the fears about their own surgery. Really glad you found a surgeon you could work with. Congratulations.

I feel that chaos with spouse and kids. Fibromyalgia brain fog doesn't help. Thank you for supporting your husband. Not easy to have a loved one in harms way every day. Thank your husband for protecting the community. It's stressful getting used to life after surgery. We'll all get there together.

    Calci-yuck

My spouse has had major reflux since surgery. I can't take Tums or Rolaids. Each time I tried I threw up. Already had reflux before surgery so that isn't new for me.Hate the time I have to devote to spreading the pills out.

Thanks CanyonBaby. Some goid ideas. I think knowing that there are others hsving the same struggle helps. It seems like you're very alone with failure. With everyone having medical issues most days are scheduled to within the minute. It's the nught I really struggle with. Everyone but the animals sleeping. Have to go into the kitchen to let the dogs out. No other door to the yard. That's when ut happens. I try to do anything but eat and always seem to end up with something even if I'm washing dishes. The worst part is I see my failure. I just need to get through this darkness and fix myself. Thanks for letting me vent.

I also make hair accessories, jewelry, glass fusing, glass engraving, ansd woodburned signs. Sometimes I draw, paint, or watercolor. I also dabble in clay. Sewing machines have scared since I broke my mother's machine when I was about four. I just started learning to sew a bit. You would think that aling with three special needs kids, a sick Mom, spouse and four companion animals wouls keep me from snacking. It's just gotten worse since Mom's cancer is not responding to treatment and my middle child is having mental health issues along with possible syrinx of her spine. Just feel myself slipping into those old patterns of comfort food. The more everything piles up the more lost my resolve is to better. What's really frustrating is in every other aspect of life I have control issues. The one thing I want to control us totally out of hand. Then the guilt cycle begins. Sorry to be whining just really frustrated with myself.

    Calci-yuck

Doctor told me to chew Tums or something like it. Threw up almost every time. Broke down and got the Viactiv chocolate chews. So far so good.
  19. I had a pain on my right side. Went to the doctor. He said no worries that's where I anchored your hernia. You probably stretched too much. I said a heads up would have been nice.
  20. Isopure has Splenda. Just be careful if you're allergic to Splenda or chlorine. My better half gets muscle pain, memory loss, and other unpleasant side effects.

    Exercise and drinking water

I ended up in the ER after surgery for dehydration. Got so focused on forcung liquid I think I stretched my sleeve. Surgeon says the liquid is also sitting in my esophagus. Not comfortable but hated the hospital. IV forced fluid with magnesium is not cool.

Thank you for posting this. I was feeling so alone with this feeling. Trying to do do everything but eat. Actually having the worst of it at night. I'm up after the rest of the family finishing chores, taking care of the animals. I do handcrafts including crochet. I'll be interested in what others may suggest.
