    Night cough

Hi!! I was banded on 11/12 and I haven't had my first fill yet. The other day I had some string cheese and I felt stuck. I didn't throw up or regurgitate. Then that night and for the last two nights I've been experiencing coughing after dinner and night time cough. I haven't had any reflux or anything to go with it. Did I slip my band? I'm calling the doctors office in the morning, but I just wanted some advice so I don't worry the whole night

    Numbness after surgery?

Thank you for the insight. I get back spasms and and I've never had an MRI done to see if there is anything else wrong with my back I'm going to contact my PCP and see if I can get some answers. Thank you!!
  3. Congrats on making it to onderland!! Woot woot!!! I'm constantly cold now, I think my fat is broken :/ lol
  4. Thanks for your reply..I try to get exercise in whenever I can. I have also noticed I can drink water quicker than I used to. I've been focusing on eating protein rich foods, such as cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, beans, puréed cod with ricotta cheese...etc. I just don't want to make mistakes that will jeopardize my weight loss... :/
  5. Hi!!! I'm currently 17 days post op and I've been experiencing numbness on my right, outer part of my thigh. Had a Doppler done a few days post op, and it's not a blood clot. Sometimes I'll get this sharp shooting pain in the affected area. If I sleep laying completely flat, the affected area burns, similar to when you've been outside in the cold too long. I have no idea what it could be. Has anyone ever experienced this after bariatric surgery??
  6. Hi!! I just started on the mushies phase, and I'm eating about 1/3- 1/2 cup of food per meal. I am super paranoid about stretching out my pouch. 17 days post op. Is it possible to stretch out your pouch during this phase? I feel restriction, I stay full for about 4-5 hours depending on what I eat. I start to feel pressure in my chest, no regurgitation or vomiting. I still have slight gas pain, and when I get the pressure in my chest it seems to agitate my gas pain in my left shoulder. Am I eating too much?? I'm just having a really hard time telling when I'm full, or when to stop eating. Please help!

    Thanksgiving depression

I'm with you!!! I'm two weeks post op and if seems like all throughout this process there's been nothing but potlucks and invites out to eat. I just had friendsgiving on Saturday while being on liquids, and I have a potluck at work tomorrow. At my friendsgiving, I just focused on the people around me. I ate my soup and once I becAme full I just talked about whatever came to mind. It was almost liberating. I was able to concentrate on my friends and enjoy their presence, also I didn't feel sick afterwards from over eating. I'm just trying to see it this way.. Thanksgiving will be there next year too, but how much longer am I going to be around if I keep eating like I do??

    Is Bad breath normal?

My sister says it is common. I started to have bad breath as soon as I started my pre-op diet. Ketosis and the protein shakes contribute to the bad breath and that yucky after taste, ugh like gag me with a spoon!! Listerine strips have become my new BFF

    November Banders

Woot woot!! Way to go!!! Glad to hear you're doing well!! I went back to work and I think I'm feeling a little back to normal! So much so that I decided to make Oreo truffles for my coworkers! Yumm yumm! But I may have over done it since my port site hurts. I've had this annoying side effect after surgery, I wonder if anyone has heard of if or experienced it? I may post this in another forum to see what feedback i get. My right outter thigh is numb. When I lay down it starts to burn, kind of like when you've been out in the cold too long. And then I get this shooting pain in the numb area. Tonight I'm trying to elevate my leg to see if it helps. I had a Doppler done and it's not a blood clot. Not sure what to make of it.

    November Banders

Like these lovely ladies just said!! Hang in there!! Every surgeon is different but it could be that maybe you're not ready for puréed food due to swelling?? I'm about to be two weeks post op and I'm about to move onto purées. Try going back to an all liquid diet for a few more days or a week? Just to give you more time to heal and to bring the swelling down.

    November Banders

Hello!! Thank you for the warm welcome!! On one hand I can't wait to go back to work to see my students but on the other hand I know it's going to be rough since I work with pre schoolers lol, but I miss them so much!! I have a friendsgiving to go to today and I'm still on liquids. I don't start mushies till Wednesday. My friends are very supportive but I know it'll be a little difficult seeing all the food and not being able to have any. However, I'm trying to take this as a learning opportunity. Food has always been the focus of every holiday, not family or friends. I hope to rewire my brain, so I'm not so hyper focused on what's on the menu, but to focus my time and energy into the people that I'm with. However, with this being my first se of holidays where I can't eat how I used to, it's going to be hard.

    LapBand Forum going away?

No need to get upset People that I've spoken to in regards to why they chose one procedure over the other simply told me that they didn't have time for the band. That could be a reason why people are choosing it less as well. I have my personal reasons why I chose the band. I am happy and confident with the choice I made just as other people are with the choices they made.

    6 days post op!

Oh no. I hope you're feeling a little better. I was going to go back to work 5 days after surgery but I had to go back to the hospital and I just took that as a sign to stay home another week. I'm sure the boss isn't happy about it but oh well!! Ugh I wish I could eat fish or tuna!! I'm still on a liquid diet and next week I get to progress into mushy food for another two weeks, and then I can have soft solids!!! My hungries are killing me!! :'(
  14. That's what I'm afraid of if I tell people at work. That they'll say things like that and talk out of their asses out of sheer ignorance! But I'm sure people at work will put two and two together. I was out for two weeks and all of a sudden I'm losing weight. I keep telling myself that I'm reaching an age where I should care what people say!! Easier said than done! Pink dahlia I completely agree!! Nothing about this process has been easy!!! When I came to in my hospital room, the first words out of my mouth we're "did I make the right choice??"

    Started my liquid diet today....

I gained weight as well but quickly lost it. However, stay off the scale. Easier said than done, I know!! I'm approaching the mushies stage and the weight will come of slower or it won't come off at all until I have a fill. sounds like this journey has been very emotional for you so far and you should focus on healing your body. I'm afraid that if you don't see weight loss that it could really crush you... This phase is all about healing not losing weight. I am very sorry about your dog.
