What was the straw that broke the camel's back for you?
AtlSpeedy replied to southerngirl24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The "straw" for me was my 4th meeting at Weight Watchers and I hadn't lost a single pound. In fact I had put on 2 lbs! I left the meeting in tears :crying:after weighing in. I went to my desk and called the surgeon that same day. I have never been back to weight watchers. That was 7 months ago. I am currently waiting to for my insurance approval. I should be banded by the end of August! -

Hey Ladies! I to am waiting for insurance approval. :glare:I keep logging in to Aetna's website every day to see if something is there. My surgeon will not schedule a surgery date until I get approved. It has been 11 days since my paper work was submitted. Hang in there Ladies! We will get through this. -
Hey Ladies! I wanted to drop by since I haven't been on in the past month. I am back from my trip to Vietnam, China, Hong Kong, Macau, & Bangkok. The doctors at Emory have submitted my paper work to Aetna 2 weeks ago and now I am just waiting on approval. Does anyone know how soon after approval I can be scheduled for surgery? They would not do any of the presurgical test until I am approved.

Emory Bariatric Center Surgeons-- any info?
AtlSpeedy replied to MissMaryAnn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I met Dr. Scott Davis, two weeks ago for my pre sugery appointment. To me he was very professional, courteous, and extremely frank and honest about the surgery's risk, and benefits. I would recommend him. -

Welcome everyone new from GA. Good Luck on your journey! -
Candy, I am going to China for 2 weeks and the doctor does not want me to travel (so far away) after surgery. If I catch a stomach bug, it could harm me & my band so soon after surgery. I can't carry heavy objects for 6 weeks...etc. So I have to wait. I met with Dr. Davis today & his surgical resident Joe (I think) and I will start pre-op testing as soon as I get insurance approval. Which I will submit Monday. Thanks for the encouragement Sghatl!

Hey ladies, I have been away from the site for a month. I was depressed that I was told that I had to wait until June to have my surgery. I am going to China in the begining of June. :huh2: The only way I could deal with it was to stay away from the site. This site brings me so much hope for what the future can hold. So I just had a follow up appointment with Dr. Williams at Emory, and I have another appointment with Dr. Davis tomorrow. I it is really hard to stick to a diet & exercise plan, when I know surgery is so far off. To all the ladies that was looking for me. I am sorry.:tt2:

Ok. Girls I need your help. Here I am one week away from meeting with my surgeon Dr. Lin at Emory. I get a call today from his office saying that he will not be doing bands for awhile. :confused:Now they want to switch me to some new lady Jahnavi Srinivasan. She just recently finished her fellowship under Dr. Lin. I just don't trust anyone new. Can you guys recommend a surgeon at Emory. I am in dire need of finding a great experienced surgeon.:confused2:

Ladies, give the man a break... It's ok Agoody. I am an AA female and I know what it is like to tell your family and friends that you are going to have surgery. They think you are crazy. Many people in don't understand that in our community, weight loss surgery is not accepted. It is frowned upon. Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions.

Have slim people asked you if they can qualify for the surgery?
AtlSpeedy replied to SuzanneG's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well I have friends that want to get banded also. Not because they are overweight, but because it could help them remain skinny! I don't get mad at my size 2 & 4 friends, they have eating issues just like I do! Only in reverse! -

Surgeons in Atlanta, Georgia
AtlSpeedy replied to KRJ180's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I haven't had the surgery yet. But I am undergoing my 3 month pre op diet with Emory Bariatric and Dr. Lin will be my surgeon. If you want more information about Atlanta surgeons and Atlanta bandsters, introduce yourself on the local forum. -
There is an AA surgeon here in Atlanta by the name of Titus Duncan. I have attached a link to his website, he might be able to provide you with stats on AA bandsters. peachtreebariatrics.com
