2 Days Post Open Severe Nausea
BLERDgirl replied to ssourgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So it sounds like it was the kidney stone. Hopefully this means she's on the upswing. Hoping the rest of her post op goes smoothly! -
I have been doing light weight lifting because I want to improve my upper body strength, but I threw my back out last week. I definitely plan to get back to it though.

I can't drink any protein! Help
BLERDgirl replied to Kristy Haugen Oliver's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@Kristy Haugen Oliver 1. Contact the Isopure company. Their contact info is here. As long as you have your receipt you should be able to return any unused portion. 2. Please contact your doctor or nutritionist and discuss your issues. You may do better with non milk based protein waters and/or juices, but you may not. Either way you should discuss alternate ways to get your protein in with the people you paid to provide your medical care. -
I'm not small by any means, but my top half is losing faster than my lower half.

@@bridget1015 - It will happen, just be patient and stick with the program.

I was back eating salads and fresh/raw veg at 6 weeks. I was adding spinach frozen and fresh to my protein drinks from week 1. However I am vegetarian and I think my system is used to it. Follow the food guide your nutritionist has provided and take it slow. Some people have trouble with raw veg as the roughage is hard on the tummy.

Anyone NOT have gas pains?
BLERDgirl replied to tnkrrbl's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Not even a little bit. No pain either. Up and walking in recovery. Zero issues post-op. -
Are you on a PPI? It may be acid. How far along are you. It seems that many have love/hate affairs with eggs. Some people can tolerate them and others have trouble with them. Just a thought. Are you having regular BM's yet? That may also be part of the issue.

@@coleenrenee - I assure you @@JamieLogical wasn't laughing to be mean. Post similar to yours pop up every day. Many people expect those big numbers all the time. Truth is there is as much a possibility you can hit that 3 - 5lb weight loss as there is that you'll hit that 1 - 2lb weight loss. It depends a lot on your genetics as much as it also depends on how good you are at hitting those Fluid and Protein goals. I also agree with @Inner Surfer Girl that staying away from the scale might be a good idea. At the very least weigh no more than once a week. Keep a food diary at least initially, and exercise. Major reflux after Sleeve and herna repair
BLERDgirl replied to Shannon Piper's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If you are self pay it does make sense to get the testing done and present that to the bariatric surgeon. They can then advise if sleeve or bypass is a better option. I hope something works out for you. -
can i be eating too few calories?
BLERDgirl replied to Dwights.vsg's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@Mremilio - Don''t worry about the calories. You want to stay hydrated and hit that protein goal as soon as possible. Some people hit theirs fairly quickly, some people have to work up to it. It took me a week to work up to 60 gms of protein. I now avg between 70 - 85 daily. -
You may be experiencing a tiny bit of body dysmorphia. For many of us, we will always see ourselves as fat. If 2 different people both said they think their clothes are toot big for you, believe them. You probably just can't see the difference yet.
-
No, you still lost weigh so its not a stall. Truth is you won't lose 14lbs a week until you hit goal. You may lose more than 1lb a week, but those initial big numbers go away pretty quickly. 1-2 lbs a week is more the norm.
-
You likely are doing too much too soon. Ease off on things that involve bending and lifting anything over 10 lbs. If any of you incisions start oozing or feel hot to touch, contact your doctor ASAP.

Major reflux after Sleeve and herna repair
BLERDgirl replied to Shannon Piper's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@Diane Liggett - Are you self pay? If not why not set up a consultation with the bariatric surgeon. Part of the preop process is either an Upper GI or EGD. Either one would acess you reflux issues and let you know whether you would be a good candidate for sleeve surgery. The other option then would be bypass, which from my understanding does cause issues with reflux. -

I can't drink any protein! Help
BLERDgirl replied to Kristy Haugen Oliver's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@Kristy Haugen Oliver - Seriously, I can't say this enough. Call your nutritionist and discuss these issues. She may come up with alternative protein solutions. You don't have to suffer and you need protein to heal and lose safely. -
Is it bad to drink a fruit smoothie on your liquid diet?
BLERDgirl replied to banksdea's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Was it homemade or bottled? The problem with fruit smoothies is it''s pretend health food. You're drinking concentrated sugar with limited Fiber. I agree with others, stick to what's on your allowable list. -
Psych Eval Question- Getting worried
BLERDgirl replied to naturegirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think they are just looking for overall attitude towards this surgery and your commitment to it. I got the feeling that they want to know you are ready to commit to a healthier lifestyle, not a fad diet or extreme behavior of any sort. Honestly my psych eval was the easiest part of my pre-op testing. They gave me a booklet with I think 4 pages of questions. Things like weight history, family weight history, support system, etc... Then when I met with the psych I think we just chatted for an hour or so. Don't over think it. Be honest and let them know you are serious and ready for this change. -
Question about Surgery?!
BLERDgirl replied to MarceMonster's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No you are fine. Unless you are the first patient of the day there could be a delay in getting you in the OR, but that's typical for any hospital/procedure. Emergencies happen from time to time. However your approval will not be recalled and your surgery will indeed happen. -
They are neutrals so you could really wear any color with it. If you want to get daring you could try pattern mixing. Here's an example. Mind you this depends on your confidence level. I have always been a fashion-y gal and love wearing bright colors. I think everyone deserves to dress and feel pretty. Go for it and have fun!

I can't drink any protein! Help
BLERDgirl replied to Kristy Haugen Oliver's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sometimes it takes a while to find the right Protein shake. I did a trial run 2 weeks before my surgery. I think I tried at least 10 different kinds. Finding a Protein Shake you like really can be a matter of trial and error.
