  1. So sorry to hear this. Unfortunately for some sleeve patients extreme nausea is indeed an issue due to nothing other than luck of the draw. Hopefully this is not the issue for her.

    Pre-op diet is a b***h

I NEVER shop at Walmart so I had never seen them in store. I wrote the company and for whatever reason was given that weird response posted about. Either way it's pretty much an non issue because from what I've seen most of them use chicken stock as a base and I don't eat chicken stock.

No so bad. After years of numerous ER visits and a 4 day coma due to an allergic reaction it's pretty much second nature.

That sucks Are you a vegan, hence no chicken stock? There's so much sodium in those broths anyway. Vegetarian with multiple food/medicine allergies. Hence the reason I always read labels and write companies about ingredients. I can never trust catch all phrases like "natural flavorings". Most products are very good about clearly labeling things, but some are vague. Guess I'll just stick to low sodium vegetable broth and miso.

Actually, now that I think about it, I never even received the coupons! No matter, it appears that chicken stock is in all of these so I wouldn't have eaten them anyway.

Thanks, I looked and looked and literally could not find it. I cannot figure out for the life why I could not locate it. It also doesn't explain their email reply to me. Pre-op diet is a b***h

True, price wise, but if you can't find it in a local store, it's a consideration, plus it's for 3 cartons....and a few of them online on Amazon show the ingredients and stuff...Swanson has an Amazon store so you can check there...my biggest worry with them though is the sodium...my legs swell with too much Maybe I'm missing it because I'm not seeing the ingredients listed. I see the nutritional info but no actual ingredients. Not on Amazon and not on their official website.

I really wanted to try this. However they don't list the ingredients on the label and when I wrote the company they refuse to divulge it saying it's their own "secret recipes". I can't risk another 4 day coma because of an allergic reaction to one of their secret ingredients. You should let your surgeon know, maybe they can prescribe or at least suggest something for you. I take prescription Colace (Doc-Q-Lace) and have for years since I also take Morphine...bonus, it comes in liquid. I have also seen lots of suggestions for Metamucil or the like (low sugar) and bought some ahead of time...just make sure there is NO stimulant in it...want a bit more natural so you don't hurt your new tummy by straining Good luck for your poops lol My doctor had me on colace from day 1. I am thankful because I had my first BM 3 days after I came home and I've been regular as clockwork ever since.

    Your weirdest breakfast?

An omelet with goat cheese and veg (broccoli, spinach, tomato, mushroom and onion) is one of my favorite foods. You know, now that I think about it, I guess my entire diet would be called weird. I eat whatever I feel like eating regardless of the time of the day. Tonights dinner was greek yogurt with Protein powder and I dipped fresh strawberries, mango and pineapple in it.
  10. I completely agree with @@ShellMilliner . Soft foods that are pureed to a baby food like consistency and then slowly progress to chunkier foods. Keep them moist and remind her to chew until they dissolve in her mouth and eat slooooooowwwwwly. One word of caution with eggs. They seem to be one of those take it or leave it foods. Some people get on swimmingly with them, others have to postpone eating them for a bit. I made mine by taking one egg, a tsp of plain greek yogurt and a bit of shredded cheese. I then cooked them in a no stick pan, stirring frequently to keep them soft & moist. My first egg was the best food I had ever eaten! Glad to hear she is doing well. Just remind her to eat nice and slow and she should do fine.

@@vsg_queen24 - Are you on a stool softener of any kind? Colace, benefiber, miralax to name a few. Call your doc and discuss.

    STILL NOT LOSING WEIGHT!

Let's start with basics. First of all take a deep breath and try to relax. It's only been a week. What are you eating/drinking at this point? (a food log really helps) Are you close to meeting your protein/fluid goals? Have you had had your first BM yet? Are you walking and/or exercising yet? Not everyone experiences big numbers right off the bat, some people are slow and steady losers. If you are following your program, the weight loss will happen.

    S.O.S.

You know what they tell you on the airplane, "Put your mask on first..." The reasoning being is because if you pass out you can't help those loved ones around you. This surgery is your mask. If you are fit, you can't be the best wife and mother you can be.

    Insuance won't cover tests :(

Just so I'm clear are they not willing to cover the test at the bariatric center or not at all? I had several of my pre-op test done at a different hospital because that's where my insurance company was capitated to. It wasn't an issue at all. I just had them forward result to the baratric center. Perhaps you could have you primary order or do the testing and then forward it to them.
  15. It's still early days for you and you had major surgery. This is perfectly normal. Just listen to your body and rest when you need to.

    Diet Plan after the stages

What Protein do you like/tolerate? chicken? Any other fish? Beans/tofu? I start with my Proteins and then build around them. I don't follow a meal plan per se, I just eat what I like.

    S.O.S.

This is your health. That is invaluable. It is worth it and more importantly, YOU are worth it. Try and take a deep breath and relax. Go for a long walk if it will stop you from emotional eating. Getting sleeved has absolutely without a doubt been the best thing I ever did for myself.

    Blood Oxygen Level

@@LousPeachy - That's called a pulse oximeter (pulseox for short) and @@AvaFern is right. I second what she said about making doctors explain anything you don't understand. They should have retook it before you left. If it was just from walking to the office, it would go back to normal once you had a minute or 2 to sit.
  19. I have 200+ to lose and chose the sleeve. I wasn't crazy about the malabsorption and rewiring on my organs. I have no problem with it taking a longer time to hit goal. I have been steadily and consistently losing. I'm 7½ mths in and 85lbs down.

    Cannot update weight

Ditto the above. I had to put in a random goal date for it to take, and my tickler is missing as well.
  21. BLERDgirl

    Where did I go wrong

It hasn't been that long. You just need to get back on track and stay there. Meet your Protein goals. Skip all the junk you shouldn't be eating. Find a way to get fluids in. I find I do better with bottled Water. I tried using a water filter and that doesn't work as well. Flavor enhancers, whatever, just get that water in. Add in some exercise and you should be fine. Use a food log for at least 6mths to get back on track. If you choose to not change any of your old behaviors, then no, you won't make it. If you want this, then make the change. If you feel your behaviors are getting the best of you try counseling.

    Eating after exercise

I cannot drink while working out. The only time I drink is if I take dance class.
  23. I would start with at the very least making an appointment with a bariatric surgeon here in the states. Financially getting anything corrected now may be cost prohibiting, but you want to at least make sure medically you are okay. You might also want to consult an attorney to see if you have grounds for medical malpractice. I am truly sorry you have had such a negative experience.
  24. From what I gather, the closer to goal, the more challenging it is to get rid of those last few pounds. I think it becomes trial and error. Try upping your calories and increasing your water intake.

I also make wraps using either romaine or bib lettuce instead of bread.
