    Sores from excess skin

Are you experience chub rub? Try the monistat chafing gel. Make sure you are documenting your issues. Take photos and make sure your doctor makes note of them. This may be helpful in requesting your insurance company cover skin removal surgery.

    working out

I work out 5 -6 days a week. Mostly water aerobics. My insurance covers my gym membership. I also have 5lb kettleballs at home. I do a quick set of 10 a few times a day. Walking is a good option. If you have cable check On Demand for work outs. I use them in the winter if I get snowed in and can't get to the gym. If you don't have cable check youtube. They have workouts online for all fitness levels from those who need to do sit down workouts on up. I also have a bike I occasionally ride. My goal is to do at least 60 minutes of some type of activity everyday. I think the core workouts I was doing with water aerobics are what made my surgical experience so easy. I had no pain. Walked in recovery and never needed any pain meds.
  3. Why weigh yourself 3 times a day? Yes your weight will fluctuate between waking up, noon and evening. Perfectly normal, everyone's weight does this. Your AM weight, especially after visiting the potty tends to be your lowest. Your body is coming off and 8 hour fast. By noon and evening, you've eaten and had liquids. Step back from the scale.
  4. I'm fine with being a C up. I'm on 5'2"½ so that's more than enough. I agree with @@Stevehud and would hope that people thought more of me than my breast size.
  5. I have no shame. I bought 2 fatkinis on sale and love wearing them.
  6. I would listen to my nutritionist before anyone else. They are the medical professional being paid to monitor your care. I'm pretty sure it was about 6 or 7 mths before I had a drink. I went to a wine tasting with friends. Honestly pizza and beer just doesn't sound like a good idea until you are closer to goal. Pizza is too high in carbs & fat and too low in healthy Protein to even be worth it to me.
  7. Just joining the chorus. Stay off the scale. Focus on healing and following your food plan. For the first 6 mths I only got weighed when I had a doctor's appointment. I wanted to focus on eating well, getting my water in and exercise. I kept and still keep a food diary. It's not everyone's cup of tea but I get more info from a food diary than the scale. If the diary is not for you, at least keep track of your protein and fluid intake. Learn to listen to your body. Take your measurements and retake them every 3 mnths. When the scale isn't moving those measurements will give you a better sense of how your body is changing.

    Constipation

Stool softener first month post-op. Get your doctor to write a script. (mine started me on one in the hospital) Veg - as much as you can. Fruit in moderation Plenty of Water Exercise - get stuff moving. I had my first BM 5 days post op and have been regular ever since. Some days I go 2 -3 times.
  9. Yup. I'm 9mths out. Started at a 46 DD, I'm currently a 42C.
  10. Who wants flat beer? I don't drink sodas, I haven't had beer but I have had alcohol. I just don't have enough real estate to want to buy a beer knowing I likely won't finish it. However I would wait at least 6 weeks before trying any alcohol. Sodas aren't worth ever drinking again.
  11. Sleeve made of steel. I've been eating out since I was 6 weeks post op with no problem other than always having a doggy bag. I've never gotten sick from any thing I ate. Sometimes I just order an appetizer and request it be brought out with my meal. Eating out was always a big part of my social life. Working around my allergies is the bigger challenge for me.
  12. I will use as my base the things that work and you can tolerate. Slowly try new things and add them in one at a time. I would give new foods a week before adding in more. As far as non dairy milks go hemp mike has the most Protein, but it's not a taste everyone likes. In the bean family split pea, lentils and black Beans have the most protein. You can always puree them and mix with low sodium broth to make them more palatable. These would be foods to help you get more protein in during those early post op days. If you are having trouble getting in Water try diluting 100% apple juice or white grape juice with your water. They are high in sugar so be careful. I find a 1 part juice 3 parts water is tolerable for me, but that varies depending on your sweet tooth. I also enjoy water more ice cold so I pile on lots of ice. and even freeze the water bottles.
  13. 2 weeks. As soon as I was on purees I was adding in tomato, citrus and spices, especially hot sauce. I'm a sriracha addict. I like my spice.

    Isopure Disgusting!

Did someone say you had to drink Isopure? Everyone has different taste buds. People seem to LOVE Premiere Protein and I found it sickly sweet, thin and unpleasant. There are loads of protein options out there; liquid, powder, otherwise. You have to find what you like and can tolerate. I enjoy the Isopure teas and coconut Water. The neon colored ones have too much food dyes in them and would trigger my allergies. I even like the unflavored Isopure powder mixed with broth. If you kept your receipt you can return unopened bottle of Isopure. Go out and explore and find what you like. and sugar, lots and lots of sugar. I will admit on occasion I have used a tiny bit of apple juice diluted to get my water in for the day. I just do so sparingly.

    TMI! Question

Just made what I call green base. It's 3 cup of raw kale, 1 cup frozen spinach, ¼ apple peeled, 1/8 cup almond slivers. I put it all in the vitamix with approximately 1/3 cup of water. Puree it all and the pour into ice cube containers. Each serving is 2 ice cubes and breaks down to: Calories 154 Total Fat 8 g 13 % Saturated Fat 1 g 5 % Monounsaturated Fat 0 g Polyunsaturated Fat 0 g Trans Fat 0 g Cholesterol 0 mg 0 % Sodium 8 mg 0 % Potassium 25 mg 1 % Total Carbohydrate 20 g 7 % Dietary Fiber 2 g 6 % Sugars 8 g Protein 3 g 7 % Vitamin A 26 % Vitamin C 42 % Calcium 2 % Iron 7 % I call it Green Base because you can use it in soup, or in a protein smoothie. It's got fiber, nutrients and even a tiny bit of protein. Blended in a drink using the vitamix or nutra bullet it will give it a green color, but the taste is pretty much undetectable.

    Pre op diet?

My BMI was really high. I'm only 5'2"/5'3" and I was over 400lbs. I'm also a vegetarian do perhaps that played a part. My bloodwork was pretty good pre op. Other than encouraging me to increase my protein, no preop diet for me. I had a really easy surgical experience.
  17. Slow and steady is just fine. If she cannot tolerate any of the Protein supplements, she will just have to get more creative with eating high protein foods. My favorite id FAGE 0% greek yogurt. I mix it with fruit or even use it instead of sour cream. Another thing I have found I can tolerate are the Isopure Protein Drinks. However I can only tolerate the teas and the coconut flavors. Each bottle is 40 grams of protein. I actually divide it up and do 1/3 Isopure to 2/3 Water. It's especially refreshing during these hot summer days. Glad she is doing well! Thanks for checking in.

    TMI! Question

I was fortunate that my doctor started me on stool softeners in the hospital. I took them for the first 30 days post op. I had my first BM 5 days after surgery and have been regular since. I am also a vegetarian and can't live without my veg. I started adding chopped spinach back to my diet ASAP. On the full liquid stage I would liquefy it into my protein shakes. I know drink plenty of water and eat plenty of veg both raw and cooked. It has never interfered with my protein intake or my weight loss. I have anywhere from 1 -3 BM's a day.
  19. I was sleeved September 18, 2015. No other procedure. My pain was practically non-existent. It felt like I had done 100 sit ups the day before, but that was it. No issues with gas, constipation or nausea. I never used my pain pump. Walked in recovery. Post op was uneventful.

    Artificial sweetners?!?

You don't have to eat the jello or any of the artificial food subs. It's more challenging but you can do it. I don't eat jello. I am allergic to several things and vegetarian. Besides the fact that I dislike jello, the artificial food coloring is also an allergy trigger for me. However, you have to have a frank discussion with the nutritionist about alternatives. Post op I was give ProSource no carb, I was also allowed tea and veg broth. I also used Isopure unflavored whey Protein powder and added that to veg broth and greek yogurt. One of the few flavored protein powders I could tolerate was CVS brand whey protein. It comes in vanilla, chocolate canisters and also Cookies n' creme and strawberry packets. Additonally I drank Kefir (a yogurt drink). It was 2 long weeks but I made it. Thankfully I didn't have a pre-op diet.
  21. I am also older (51) and post menopausal. So yeah, hormones and such make this more of a challenge. I just know I have to work my butt off to be successful so I do.

    Need advise!

You should say the truth just as you have stated here. If you honestly feel you have made the changes necessary since your previous attempt, then tell them so. Tell them what you have done in the interim that better prepares you for the sleeve now. This surgery isn't magic. It's not going to be successful if you can't put in the work both physically and mentally so there's no point in lying and having surgery when you aren't ready.

OA: All I hear are crickets

Years ago and I mean 10+ years ago I attended one OA meeting. It was not a good match for me at all! There were many folks there who were bulimic and struggling with other forms of self harm. many were average sized or slim. That wasn't my issue. Reflecting back now I realize that. I still think OA is a good thing if you are truly struggling with food addictions. However it's not a good match for every overweight person. It took a long time to realize what my needs were. I still don't think OA is what I need, but I can understand how for some it's a good tool to have.

    Self Conscious....

Just do it. Most people aren't thinking about you and many have been where you are. Seriously just get out of your head and focus on doing what you need to do.

    Artificial sweetners?!?

I can't eat most sugar substitutes, including stevia as they trigger my allergies. I seem to be okay with small amounts of monkfruit or sucralose. However in general I simply avoid them. I've learned to use less of the real deal. At home I mostly use raw honey. I will also use real sugar and occasion real maple sugar or date paste.
