    Too many calories?

Even people at goal can often be plus/minus 5 lbs. That's perfectly normal. If you haven't changed your eating significantly in any way I would continue doing what's been working and let your body adjust.

    Too many calories?

I think the conversation between you & your nutritionist has to be a 2 way street. Most are well informed, but not all. Personally speaking I had to inform my nutritionist of the difference between stevia herb and those white powder packets of truvia or stevia in the raw. If you have questions they should be able to answer them or at least point you in the right direction. It's hard to get an answer here since each doctor/program has a different protocol. YOUR program should be able to give some general guidelines.
  3. I keep 2 in the freezer. I find they hold the cold longer

    Too many calories?

I think it varies by how much weight you need to lose, but I was 400 -600 months 1 - 3 600 - 800 months 3 - 8 I just raised my calories to 1,000 at 9mths out. Eating that much at only 3 mths sounds like a lot to me unless you work out daily and weight lift.
  5. I think I started eating nuts as soon as I was cleared for solid foods. I had nut butter from week 1. The only issue I had was with macadamia nuts which are something I rarely eat because of the high fat content. I found I had to really chew them and eat even slower. However I think that goes for everything. As you are reintroducing foods back into your diet just go slow and chew well.

    Not taking care of myself

I remember when your mom passed. Sounds like you're having issues with depression, which is manifesting itself physically. It may be time for a visit to a counselor. Please make them aware of your WLS and you current issues with self care. You deserve to be happy. Take care.
  7. Did he say why he was recommending the band? Give you pros and cons? If you are not 100% comfortable with the band do not get it.

Eating out - I just need to vent.

Sorry you had a bad experience. Unfortunately there are a lot of restaurants that do not allow adults to eat from the children's menu. You need to read the fine print on that usually on the company's website. When in doubt, I typically go for a meal of sides or appetizers instead.

    28, mom of 2, scared!

I was not one bit scared. I had done my research, and I made sure to be a super compliant patient throughout the pre-op process. I had faith in the doctor and hospital I had chosen. I went into surgery calm, cool and collected. Thankfully my surgical process was super easy. I had minimal pain, no gas, nausea or vomiting. I did not use pain meds once I woke up or when I was discharged. My abs felt like I had done 100 sit ups the day before. I merely had some soreness but I could get in and out of bed on my own and walking was never an issue. This was by far the easiest surgery I ever had. Much easier than my knee surgery or radical hysterectomy. If you have anxiety issues make sure your medical team know. They can give you something to help you relax prior to surgery.

Have I failed if my fat apron won't go away?

Document, document, document. I cannot stress this enough. Take photos, request and keep copies of any office visit notes if you have to see a doctor or get prescriptions to address any rashes or acne. When you do speak with a doctor about it, always discuss it in terms of the medical effects. This is building your case for your surgery request to the insurance company.
  11. If you are dairy intolerant or sensitive whey isolates can sometimes irritate the tummy. If you do not have dairy issues you should be fine. I prefer whey isolates over concentrates.

    Need reassurance

I ate around 800 until 9mths in but I always got between 75 - 100 gms of protein & I've never been constipated.

4.5 Months Post VSG need help!

I would add a scoop of Protein powder to that coffee you are drinking. A lot of docs don't want its to continue w/ protein supplements after 3 mths but as long as most of your protein is from food, you should be fine. If you are a cream in the coffee type, a vanilla flavored protein powder can replace the creamer. Just liquidfy the powder before adding it to your coffee. Perhaps consider dropping from 2 cups of coffee to 1. Dark green leafy veg also contain a but of protein so if you're eating veg, reach for those first. ETA: The scale is not the most accurate method to monitor the changes in your body. Take your measurements. I do boobs/chest, neck, waist & hips. I retake them every 3 months. On those days when the scale doesn't move, this will give you a more accurate view of the changes occurring. BTW, I only weight myself once a month. I am focusing more on eating well and exercising so I don't want to be ruled and/or disappointed by the scale. Another NSV (non-scale victory) is the reduction of your medications. Those are fair more important that just some numbers on the scale.

Don't compare. Everyone loses at their own rates. However what are you eating that prevents you from increasing your Protein? That should be your number one goal, especially if you are working out. You could add some plain greek yogurt to your protein shake to up the protein. (I am partial to FAGE 0%). Many factor go into determining who will have lose skin; age, race, genetic, etc.... You can try and prevent it by keeping skin moisturized, keeping your body hydrated and lifting weights which may help replace the fat with muscle, but there are no guarantees. I also like adding a bit of chopped spinach (fresh or frozen) to my Protein drinks. It add Vitamins and nutrients like Iron, and it's good for the bowels. As for calorie guidelines, you should call and ask your nutritionist. In fact you might want to call them and brainstorm about ways to increase your protein intake.

    Need reassurance

Maybe add in some fruit and veg in small amounts and/or try increasing your water.
  16. When I was on full liquids everything except the baby bell would have been acceptable. It's nice to get other opinions and experiences here, but you should use you medical team as your determining factor. Different doctor's have different protocols.
  17. Call your nutritionist, review your eating with her. Set a goal for calories and amounts.
  18. My wheeled backpack. It makes going to the gym easy. I also heavily use my Water bottles (I have 2 I use the most, and 2 more that serve as backups), my shaker bottle, my nutrabullet, and my polar loop. They are all an important part of maintaining this lifestyle.
  19. If you live near a whole foods they often have single serving packets. Many people like hemp Protein. I tried Vega and wasn't fond of it either. The trick with Protein drinks is a lot of the time it's trial and error. As for non dairy milks and yogurts, be careful. Many are low in protein and high in fat and carbs. I believe either hemp or flax have the highest amount of protein. I haven't tried either. I drink unsweetened almond milk sparingly but I only like Almond Breeze brand. Anything by Silk taste like wallpaper paste to me.

    AM I DOING IT RIGHT?

Step away from the scale. In the early days I only got weighed when I went to the doctor. It takes the pressure off so you can focus on eating and drinking well. I now only weigh once a month. I would recommend weighing no more than weekly. It will make you crazy and isn't always a good measure of progress. Take your measurements instead. Boobs, neck, waist and hips. On days when the scale doesn't move you will see a difference.

    Abdominal binder?

I didn't have one. I had a mostly uneventful surgery with only a little discomfort.
  22. Not an ounce. I didn't have a pre-op diet.

    Upset stomach...

You might need a PPI like prilosec, however since you don't care for pills you could try ginger tea. You can buy it in tea bags or just purchase some ginger root, peel and boil a piece. FYI - I used a PPI from ~ 3mths - 6mths. My body eventually readjusted to the point where I no longer needed it.

6 months post sleeve and need help!

Stalls are normal. However I would check that you are: Meeting your Protein goals. I keep mine between 75 - 100. Watching carbs. Mine are high because I am vegetarian. I do look at the source of the carbs. I strive for complex carbs, not white, highly processed carbs. Are you keeping track of your food? Perhaps try keeping a food log. We have a tendency to minimize "occasional treats". They can add up and slow down our weight loss efforts. I log everything, good, bad and ugly. Are you eating fruits and veg? Green vegetables especially are full of Fiber and nutrients. They will also help you poo regularly. I find when I have at least 2 BM's a day, I lose faster. Drink you Water. Flavor enhancers are fine, but if you can try some plain old H20. I am 9½ mths and nearly 100 down. I hope to lose at least 125lbs by my anniversary in September. I started at a really high weight and that would be half way to goal for me. I only weigh once a month and so far I have no experienced any stalls. I work out 5-6 days a week, primarily water aerobics.
  25. You need to hit above 20 gms not only to heal, but to lose healthily. What vegan Protein shave you tried? I liked the Biochem vegan powder but I found I needed to blend it in the nutra bullet to remove the grittiness. Another option would be the protein waters. Both Isopure and Syntrax make those. Special K makes some you can buy at the market but they are lower in protein. Alternatives would be Beans, nut, lentils, tofu, dark green leafy veg like spinach or kale. If you are still on puree or soft foods blend them and add them to your broth. It is important to find ways to get your protein in.
