  1. Learn the art of not giving a damn. Reaching the point where I didn't care enough about what people said or thought about me was life changing. Once I realized I couldn't stop or control anything someone else said or did life got a whole lot easier. Now if you are not putting food on my table or money in my pocket, your opinion doesn't matter one bit to me.
  2. I was on a bento kick a few years back. This past weekend I dug out my stash. I must have at least 20 different sets. They are great for VSG sized lunched. The company I used to order a lot from went out of business, but I also purchased a few on ebay and even from the dollar bins at Target. This is an old pre-op bento. I doubt I could eat half that food now. It even came with an insulated bag and tiny fork.
  3. Which one do you have? I buy the unflavored and add it to pretty much everything. I also like the ice tea. That said, if you don't like it, try something else. There are a million different Protein powders/drinks/waters/etc..... on the market. The key to success is finding one you like.
  4. So far I've gone from a 46/48 DD to a solid 44C. I'm okay with that because I'm barely 5'3". I think they will end up smaller, but I doubt I'll be flat chested. Big boobs run in my family and even my size 00 cousin has a nice rack.

    Im scared

Not everyone does. Each program has different protocols based on how they are set up and insurance company requirements.

One day at a time, one step at a time. It's really not that hard and if you're lucky not painful at all. My advice: Talk to your doctor and nutritionist. I mean really have a back & forth discussion and ask questions. Make sure you understand and are okay with their instructions. If you are physically able, start exercising now. I was taking Water aerobic for 3 years prior to WLS. I have arthritis in both knees so it was primarily to keep me mobile. I am certain that it helped make my recovery a lot easier. Try to avoid the negative stories. This board is a tremendous help and source of support. However the folks who experienced complications and pain tend to be a louder voice than those of us who had a pain free experience. It's good to know what good happen, but it's also important to focus on the positive. Lastly, and this is really important. DO NOT COMPARE YOURSELF TO OTHERS. There are many variables in how fast or slow a person loses. Comparing yourself to another is rarely a good idea. This is YOUR journey. Focus on listening and becoming in tune with your body.

    Blood clots

Most of us make it through perfectly fine. However if you are experiencing a little hiccup, it's good to catch it early. I hope all goes well for you!

    MILK

That's why we're preaching Fairlife! It's ultra-filtered to remove sugars and lactose, and it packs 14g of protein and 1/3 of daily Calcium in ONE cup. For me, someone who can be sensitive to higher amounts of lactose, it's a godsend. Almond milk had more carbs and less protein for me. How you manage to find so much success as vegan is AMAZING. It's hard enough as a carnivore trying to cobble a decent diet together! Thanks but I'm vegetarian. It makes things easier because I do eat milk based products like yogurt and I also eat eggs. Those 2 items make it relatively easy for me. I hope to go vegan once I get to a normal BMI. I'm currently following a few vegan athletes for when I transition. I also have to eat as unprocessed as possible, because heavily processed foods trigger my allergies.

    Blood clots

It's probably bruising from being in the hospital. Sounds like nothing, but if you are concerned it doesn't hurt to call the doctor.
  10. I stand corrected. I have always been extremely regular and can't imagine having fecal matter sitting in my body for days. Prior to surgery I went 2 - 3 times a day with no laxative assistance. I pretty much went 2-3 hours after each meal. My surgeon is also on the conservative side and starts all his patients on a PPI and stool softener immediately following surgery. I appreciated his precautions. Hopefully the OP can find some relief. Don't worry about being on PPI's for life. Chances is you won't need them once your tummy heals. For now do what you can to stay comfortable. If you have any other concerns, call your doctor back.
  11. Hydrate and move as much as you can. If it is low potassium, you can try something like gatorade or coconut water.

    MILK

I rarely drink cow's milk. On the rare occasions I need milk I drink unsweetened almond milk. Milk is low in protein and high in carbs. I do eat yogurt but prefer yogurt made from fat free milk. With yogurt I get the protein payoff to make it worth while.
  13. Do a forum search. This question gets asked at least once. Week. You'll see loads of responses both low and high.
  14. Not pooping for 3 days isn't normal. There are plenty unusual things in the VSG world. My team informed me that as long as I ate a balanced diet my bowel movements should return to what they were pre surgery. My surgery prophylactically starts all his patients on stool softener while in the hospital and 30 after so that they don't have vowel issues.
  15. Yes. Attended seminar end of May, first consult with surgeon early June. Approved in August, surgery in September. Would have been sooner but I didn't do my 3rd visit in July. I had family stuff to go do 3rd visit was in August

    Scrambled eggs on puréed diet?

Sounds like you ate too fast. I find I have to be really conscious of how fast I eat when I go out or I eat too fast & end up feeling uncomfortable . A tums or 2 and some walking around may help.

    Scrambled eggs on puréed diet?

I did. Just ask them to scramble them soft. It makes it easier to digest.
  18. . Going once every 3 days isn't normal. I go each and every day and have done so since week 1. It takes some longer to get back to pooping regularly, but it can go back to normal.
  19. This post is a big commercial? Chile PLEASE! I am a fashionista! I look cute ALL the time and I bargain shop. Please stop spreading the stereotype that all fat folks wear unfashionable clothing in dark, boring colors.
  20. First priority should be to stay hydrated and get the reflux under control. If you need to step back to liquids for a bit, then do so. As for the constipation issue, you can add foods to your diet that will help you not need laxatives. Spinach pureed , small amounts of fruit pureed or a shot of prune juice daily may help. Make sure you are getting in ALL your Water. I was started on omeprazole in the hospital by my doctor. I had to increase my dosage from about month 3 to month 6. At that point my tummy was healed and my body adjusted. You're still early in the journey. You may need to progress back to whole foods at a slower pace.

    Sugar substitutions

I don''t do artificial sugars. I am allergic to most of them, and stevia. I use raw honey, and on occasion maple syrup. I just don't go nuts with it. For oatmeal, I add date paste or dried cranberries for sweetness. I don't like agave, it's too sweet for me. Sugar isn't bad, overindulging in it is.

    Cottage cheese

Then why eat it? Find something you like instead.
  23. I actually sleep better than I did before surgery. I had insomnia for years. The only thing that helped was working out everyday. Even then I would wake up frequently during the night. Now I sleep soundly and rarely wake up in the middle of the night.
  24. I had laparoscopic robot. As mentioned the robot is not completely on it's own. I had zero issues.

    Walking

I've lost 20 lbs. in the last ten days and I'm truly freaking out I don't know if that is to fast I know everyone is different but I thought everyone loses 10-12lbs the first week SMH It's not unusual to have a high initial weight loss when you start with a higher weight. At my 2 week f/u I had loss 26lbs. At my 6 week appointment I loss another 6lbs. It eventually slows down . Average weight loss is 5 -12 lbs a month for most VSGers.
