    Is 8oz too much?

Some people can, especially if the liquids are thin. Some people don't get any restriction until they are on more solid foods.
  2. No your body needs rest just as much as it needs physical nourishment. Start your day when you wake.
  3. That's your goal. You do your best each day to get as close to that as possible. It won't happen overnight and it may not happen within the first month, but eventually you'll get there. Things that helped me: Starting my day off with a glass of Water.Even if it's just 4 ounce Put it by the bed and have it first thing. Adding ice to my Protein drinks. Good for at least a quarter cup of water. Carrying a water bottle with me everywhere. Most people work up to 64 ounce by month 2, some sooner. Give yourself time. Just remember the goal is to get in your protein and stay hydrated. Did the doctor said 64 ounce of water or fluids? For most of us, it's fluids. That pretty much includes anything liquid so your Fluid intake would be a combination of protein drinks and water intake.
  4. You risk death by not getting surgery. There is a risk of complications with every surgery, but if you have chosen a skilled surgeon then that risk is minimal. The choice is yours and everyone should go into this feeling confident. I will say that this was 1,000 time easier than my hysterectomy years ago. There is a difference between self care and selfishness.
  5. I was thinking a tablespoon of pumpkin puree (no sugar added), vanilla protein powder plus pumpkin spices (nutmeg, cinnamon, etc... I make my own), with a bit of greek yogurt and enough water to blend might make a pretty clean, high protein pumpkin spice shake.
  6. Never had it and I agree with @@Bufflehead's advice. Call the doctor.
  7. Good for you recognizing this! What helps me is finding ways to recreate some of these taste. I personally I don't get the pumpkin craze, but perhaps a tablespoon of pumpkin purée added to a Protein shake would satisfy.
  8. It's fluids not water. When in doubt, call your doctor or nutritionist. Mine said the goal is to not get dehydrated. While you should strive to get at least 50% of your fluid intake from water, other beverages and even flavor enhancers are allowed.

    Throwing up?

Why would you want to throw up? I've haven't thrown up since I left the hospital and the only time I threw up in the hospital was when I accidentally swallowed too large a piece of ice post op. Not throwing up is a good thing.

    Honey and Lemon Water

Drinking lemon Water will have the same effect. A small amount of honey doesn't hurt, especially if its raw honey, but for those of us who can't do artificial sweeteners, those are added sugar calories that could go elsewhere. I often have a glass of water with lemon or a capful of Braggs apple cider vinegar. The acidity causes a alkaline effect that some believe inactivates some of the digestive enzymes that break down carbs into sugar. It supposed to also help breakdown fat so you "pass it" which is why it may help with constipation.
  11. It will help alleviate some pain because there is less mass for those bones to hold up.
  12. It's a sort of vicious cycle. For many of us walking and carrying extra weight is uncomfortable. We therefore avoid it. That then plays a part when how the circulation in out legs and ankles function. When you get decrease circulation the Fluid may gather in your legs, causing pain, swelling and discomfort. A few things may help: Compression stockings which help with circulation externally Increased activity such as walking. I'm sure I sound like a broken record at this point, but I cannot stress enough how beneficial aquafit exercise or pool walking is. Speaking from personal experience, it made all the difference in the world. Your body weighs 1/3 it's true weight in the Water. If walk on dry land or a treadmill is too painful, try walking laps in the pool. Watching your sodium. It's hidden in everything. Not only is it naturally occuring in some foods, but processed foods and sodas are full of it. Not eating processed foods and sodas can make a tremendous difference. When I stopped drinking sodas my feet went down a shoe size in one month!
  13. There is a BIG difference between someone expressing concern & being shamed. No I was never fat shamed. I would never have tolerated and obviously people knew that. My WLS was about loving me & taking care of me. Wanting to prove something to others had nothing to do with it. Shaming which is making people feel bad about themselves is wrong. What good comes from making someone feel unworthy?
  14. I think it's awful. People need to live and let live. Making someone feel like crap doesn't create something positive. Even on this board you have many people who missed out on life because of being shamed. Still others on this board who are shocked to find that being skinny is not the magic cure all to happiness. I loved me fat and I love me 104lb thinner. It was loving myself warts and all that motivated me to care for myself enough to even consider this surgery. Shaming had NOTHING to do with it.

    Help!

You need to eat a balanced diet. Constant constipation is not a good thing. It's not uncommon to have a bounce weight of 1 - 3 lbs. Incorporating from dark green veg, fresh fruit and whole grains into your diet will help alleviate the constipation. If you at goal you need to transition to a maintainence eating plan.

    HELP!

See a dermatologist. hair thin's with age, so if you are 50+ some shedding is to be expected. Hopefully you are keeping your Protein levels up. If none of these apply to you I would get bloodwork to make sure nothing else if going on and then see a dermatologist.
  17. Check out Alex's post about what to expect or look for in follow up care
  18. I'm nearly a year out. What are you eating? Do you keep a food diary? I still do and it to this day. It help me pay attention to my micros like sodium and sugar.
  19. I eat that way naturally. I'm a vegetarian
  20. What dosage are you taking? Do you take it daily? If so at what time? Omeprazole isn't like tums. You have to take it consistently for it to be effective. When I needed it, u took it late afternoon/early evening around 2pm. If not by 4-5pm I would get that uncomfortably full/burning feeling. Others find it helpful to take first thing in the morning or at night before bed. However it needs a good week of taking it to be effective.
  21. Acid is not from eating too much. Many sleevers have issue with it. For most it's just a temporary stage. Your body is still produce the same amount of digestive acid it did pre- surgery. However you have significantly less space so it cause reflux . Many doctors prescribe a ppi such as omeprazole for their patients to combat this. My doc had me taking 20 mgs from day 1 post op. I didn't have any issues with acid until 3 mths in. Then I needed it. From mtg 3-6 I had to take 40mgs a day . Then my body regulated it's self and now I no longer need it.

    Ugh wedding

Some things can be altered. Elastic waist skirts I can hang onto a little longer. A lot of things would cost more to take in. It's okay though, once I reconciled with that I was happy to see the things go. It's part of saying goodbye to the old me.

    Ugh wedding

I was a bit of a clothes horse. One of the reason why I currently have a closet ranging from size 30 - 16. I have a pretty active social life. Every year I bought at least one dressy outfit and just wait for the occasion. The down side is I now have pieces I can't bear to part with. I have a full length beaded gown that I just can't bear to part with. It's too big, but the thing is a work of art and I would actually loose money at a consignment shop so it's just sitting n my closet. I've decided that I will allow myself 5 sentimental pieces and everything else has to be sold or donated.

    Workout classes

I was taking aquafit classes for over a year prior to surgery. Surgery was really easy for me. I wanted to return to gym at my 2 week check up but my large incision wasn't healed enough. Once that one scabbed over at 3 weeks I was back in pool.

    3.5 weeks out. Struggling

It takes time to work up to it. I doubled up to increase my Protein. My first shake of the day I made with 1 scoop of Protein powder 26 gms protein, 1 cup of Water and ½cup of greek yogurt (Fage 0%) 13gms protein. That started my day with over 30 gms of protein in one drink. I'd serve it over ice for a tiny bit more water, and I counted those 8 ounce of water towards my fluids. It took me an hour to drink it in the beginning. lunch was the same deal. The nice thing was I had hit over 70gms of protein by 1 pm. I then just sipped on water until dinner. That first week if I was lucky I got though an entire 24 ounce water bottle. However counting the water in the Protein drinks, by the time I was done, I had gotten in 50 ounces of Fluid before dinner. I could take it easy at dinner. During the full liquid stage I would have half a cup of veg broth or non chunky Soup with a scoop of unflavored protein powder mixed in for another 26 gms of protein. Once I was on purees, I would have a ricotta bake, refried Beans topped with a bit of cheese or scrambled eggs. After dinner I just sipped on water for as long as I could stand it or I hit my 64 ounces. I needed my dinner to be savory and not sweet so it was important to have that soup for dinner.
