When did people notice your weight loss?

You might get better answers if you create a separate thread instead of hijacking this one.
  2. I didn't have a pre-op diet and I didn't do only liquids until the day before which was required by surgery. I also did not have a post-op clear liquid phase. I went straight to full liquids. What I did do was work my butt off. I log my food, drink my Water, keep my Protein up and work out. I had a large weight loss the first 2 weeks (26lbs), but that was to be expected because I started at such a high BMI. At my 6 week f/u I loss another 6lbs. That when I knew I needed to knuckle down and work. Since then I've averaged 8 -10 lbs monthly and I'm absolutely fine with that. A year out and I have lost a little over 100lbs since day of surgery. It's not coming off lightening fast, but I have nearly no sagging skin and feel great. I a also vegetarian and therefore my carbs run higher than most. I make sure they are complex carbs and not from things like breads and highly processed food. I also stay active enough to burn those carbs off. I am also post menopausal and take medication that slows my metabolism. I am living proof this tool works if you work it. To the OP, I repeat, step away from the scale. Focus on good eating, getting in your fluids and moving.

    I'm I failing already!

Where are you getting your information from? You don't live on Protein Shakes and water for the rest of your life. You learn how to eat small, sensible meals. Some of us do supplement with an occasional Protein shake, but it's not a requirement. Just as many do not use them after the first few months.

    Slow Cooker Recipes

You can also make a really great chili in the slow cooker. I like cooking black beans in mine.

    In a time crunch

Talk to your bariatric program and make them aware of this.
  6. Nope, right on schedule. Not everyone has lbs dropping off despite that many post your read. I would step away from the scale. Focus on eating properly, drinking water, hitting that protein and getting in at least 30 minutes of physical activity each day.

When did people notice your weight loss?

Some people noticed early on when I had lost 25, 30 lbs, however most people didn't really notice until I was around 80lbs down. Then suddenly it was, "Hey are you losing weight?" Honestly I had a hard time seeing it until I was down 50lbs! Even though I felt my clothes getting loser, I just couldn't see it.
  8. I was allowed 1 tbsp of nut butter on the full liquids phase. I used them to hide my crushed vitamins or to flavor my protein shakes. Once I was cleared to eat whatever I could tolerate at week 6 I started back eating nuts. I prefer almond, pistachios or no salt added cashews. They make a good protein snack.

    Not Happening After all …

Is there no other doctor in his practice to cover? Perhaps you can work something out with your primary for follow up care. I agree the scheduler should have had those dates blocked out. So sorry this happened to you.

My program just had a blog post about this.

    Sneaky insurance company?

Don't let them get away with that. They have to by law provide you in writing what is covered and what is not. I agree, ask again and if need be speak with a manager.
  12. Toss some veg in with the egg (spinach ad/or broccoli are my favs.) Add a bit of fruit with the yogurt Make your own chicken salad. Use half plain greek yogurt/half mayo to cut fat & up protein. Serve in a lettuce wrap or over spinach Instead of a quest bar, have some fruit. Half an orange or half an apple with nut butter. Have a meatless Monday and eat all plant based Proteins.
  13. Sleeve made of steel here. I was eating in the 800 calorie range by 6 weeks post op. I maintained in the 750 -850 range until 9 mths out, but could have easily eaten at least 1,000. It too vigilance and care to stay under 850 AND feel satisfied. I had one experience where I went out to eat and took that one bite too many inn the form of a really decadent dessert, but the worse thing that happened was I had a really bad tummy ache. Otherwise I can pretty much eat and drink what I want. I can even use a straw with no issues. The difference is I think I am now more aware of when I am sated and not hungry now. I still use MFP faithfully. At this point I think I always will. It's a valuable tool for me. The sleeve as a tool for weight loss is doing it's part and I am at a place where I am now capable of doing mine. Surprisingly I enjoy working out regularly and eating well. I also now can trust myself to eat properly and only indulge on special occasions.
  14. I also wear compression fitness wear. Hard to tell right now, but I think I will only need plastics on my lower half.
  15. I do half plain greek yogurt & half real mayo, or use avocado instead.
  16. One of the reasons why I stopped buying bottle dressings and diet food in general. They often up the fat or sugar to make them. If they don't do that then it's all man made chemicals. I'd rather eat smaller amounts of the real thing or avoid it altogether. I learned this with trying to get my allergies under control way before WLS.

    Eggplant?

I do a similar recipe but use either tofu or soy crumbles. I also like doing thin slices and then using them like lasagna noodles. I layer them with cheese, riccota, red sauce, spinach, sauteed onions and mushroom. I make them either in ramekins or muffin tins. They freeze well.

My insurance is paying my gym membership

My insurance pays my gym membership. I always encourage folks to check their plans. Many have wellness components that can cover or help with gym memberships.

    Migraine. Is excedrin ok?

When they call back, maybe have a conversation about any ongoing issues that you may need to take meds for and get their advice. I have to take Zyrtec daily and if it's an emergency benedryl. It's a pain in the butt because the antihistamines slow your metabolism down, but since I have no choice I made sure up front that it would be okay. Migraines are awful. You need to be able to treat them effectively. Hopefully they can get an answer for you.

    Craving protein shakes

Vegetarian here. Dark green leafy veg also contain Protein, so go for those. If you want a break from meat, try topping with a hard boiled egg and some black Beans. I also use salsa instead of salad dressing. Very low cal and fat free.
  21. I like our support groups. They are very encouraging. Now that I'm a year out and won't have another f/u for a year, I plan to attend more. My program has them at varying time and locations so its easy to find one to drop in on.

    Migraine. Is excedrin ok?

Your doctor doesn't have an on-call line? Call you primary and ask their advice.

    Craving protein shakes

It's important to eat real food. Many of us supplement, but you need to move onto regular food. Crack that manual open! Your body needs fruits and veg. Limit protein shake to 1 maybe 2 a day and no more.
  24. call you program, they will be better equipped to answer this
