  1. These are all good guidelines, but also shows the importance of having regular bloodwork done to check your levels. The first 60 days I used KIND multivitamin 2x's a day crushed . It's a whole food based Vitamin. I also used calcium that I bought from Whole Foods. Can't recall the brand. Once I could swallow pills and the KIND ran out, I switched to Centrium. My program does not allow gummies. I haven't needed B12 since 6mths out. I currently take 1 multi a day 12,000mgs of calcium citrate and I forget the dosage of D3. I just had my 1 year follow up and all my bloodwork was good.
  2. I don't use bars often, but I do keep some in my glove compartment in case of emergencies. I like Larabar and Kind bars because of the minimal ingredients, but they are pretty high in carbs.

    Working out?

That's a myth. A pound is a pound. I work out heavy enough to sweat on my cardio days. ETA: Unless you are working out at body building levels, exercise isn't going to hinder your weight loss.

    As promised and finally

It's my before and after dress. I need to update my pictures in it. Otherwise I'm not keeping anything that doesn't fit or can't be altered inexpensively.
  5. I also have these GoStak Twist & Lock Storage jars I sometimes carry with me. It can be used as a stack or broken down into the individual pieces. I used this when I had to attend a breakfast meeting that only promised continental breakfast. I carried my Vitamins and some unflavored Protein powder. I mixed half the protein powder in my coffee and half in some yogurt.
  6. Hi. Sorry to butt in. Do the isopure teas (green and black) have caffeine in them? Just checked the website. The green tea and black tea with lemon do contain caffeine. The coconut and fruit flavors do not. I have no negative reactions to caffeine and I can't have the food dyes that the other flavors of the No Carb Protein drinks come in.

    Working out?

I was walking in recovery and resumed acquafit classes by week 3. I never heard of a doctor saying it would hinder weight loss. I currently work out anywhere from 4 - 6 days a week and do a variety from strength training, core work and aerobic/cardio.
  8. Hotels: Do brunch. eggs and leans meats are your best bet. In the evening go for lean Protein and/or soup. You can order an appetizer and request it come as your main. Tailgating: Carry a small sandwich pack with a hard boiled egg, cheese cubes and a Water bottle. I would likely carry a Isopure tea or coconut water (40 gms protein per bottle). If offered go for lean meats no bread. The protein water will help keep you hydrated and give you good protein. If you don't make it a big deal, chance are others won't either. Don't overthink it and have fun.

    Miserable need help!

I never heard of this so I googled. It's not a lot of protein, but it's also not very high in calories. Drinktimino

    Stretch mark cream

No, again it helps moisturize your skin so the appearance of stretch marks is not as great, but it doesn't remove them. I use cold pressed virgin coconut oil for just about everything; skin, hair and cooking. It's very good for you, but it does not erase stretch marks.

    Miserable need help!

Try the clear protein waters. Some people develop dairy allergies/intolerances. Isopure, Special K Proaisis and I think Syntrax Nectar make them. There are probably other brands out there as well. If the nausea persist, call your doctor back.

Keep Cheating On 6 Week Pre-Op Diet!

My surgeon also warned me that if my liver was too big he would close up and not perform surgery. While I didn't have a specific pre-op diet, I went super lean in my eating. I focused on increasing my protein and eating veg. I think you need to reexamine it you are ready for this. It's as much a mental change as it is a physical one. I know the pre-op diets are challenging, but it's the choices you are making when you cheat that concern me. Slipping and eating 2 KFC meals is a big red flag to me. I understand those who cheat and maybe eat a chicken wing or a burger but 2 KFC meals is concerning. If you think 6 weeks all liquids is to hard, why not call them and see if you can adapt it? How about all liquids for breakfast, lunch and snack then having a sensible dinner of veg/salad and lean protein? While you are speaking with them find out what your post op diet will be like. This is important because if you cheat post-op it can be both dangerous and uncomfortable as well as sabotage your new eating habits.
  13. Adding to the chorus. Go with your gut and switch. This is why I looked at 2 different programs before even starting the process. I wanted a program where I felt 100% comfortable. Sleeve or RNY, if you qualify and decide, it's your decision. The surgeon should not berate you or make you feel like a third grader delivering their first oral report. There are other ways to make sure you understand the process. My surgeon did my best friend's RNY. I told him this on our very first meeting. Despite this and my very high starting weight, he didn't try to talk me out of having the sleeve. He just made sure I knew it would take longer to lose. My concern is if the doctor is treating you this way now, what happens post-op when you need support? Get your medical records from this program. Chance are you may not have to repeat your testing since most insurance companies won't want to pay for the same test so soon. Either way it's worth it to be comfortable with the people who are performing major surgery on your body.

    Losing Weight In Chunks

    Agreed, it's perfectly normal.

    Fiber?!?!?

Fruit and dark green leafy veg, do a meatless day once a week and use beans for protein, prunes, prune juice, flax powder, psyllium, smooth move tea, miralax, ducolax, milk of magnesia, colace, black coffee, 1 tsp epsom salt dissolved in 4ounces of grapefruit juice. It really depends on what your body chemistry reacts to

    Protein powder

That's a question for your nutritionist. Mine only approved isolates.

    New Sleever / feeling overwhelm

The PPI is very important because sometime the acid build up also feels like hunger pains. I wouldn't wait. Why be miserable when you don't have to? I'd call the doctor first thing in the morning and let him call in a script to your pharmacy. It will be a lot easier to focus on your fluids and proteins if your aren't uncomfortable.

    New Sleever / feeling overwhelm

Welcome. Are you on anything for the heart burn? If not ask your doctor to prescribe a PPI and take it faithfully! Other than that, it's early days. Give your body some time to heal.

    Weight loss journey.

Figuring out how to eat. I am vegetarian, allergic to seafood, red dyes, artificial sugars & stevia and pretty much any highly processed food. I didn't really have a long wait and I didn't have a pre-op diet.

    Bari Boot Camp

If it's like @ThePostOp's experience it sound like something that could be quite helpful. We get binders in my program, but I think for some folks getting the info bit by bit might be more helpful.

    Calf cramp

THIS^^^^ bananas, coconut water, gatorade, pedialyte or pickled juice will all help. If you get a bit of these daily it will prevent them from returning. Just be careful, bananas and pedialyte are really high in sugar.

    Authorization

FYI - you do not have to tell your job. When you do get approved, the part of HR that knows cannot divulge due to HIPAA. When put in for leave to time off you only have to state you are taking a medical leave. If you take a week or less off, I would just use vacation time. However do not put in for leave until your surgery date is 100% certain.
