    High Protein Pasta

I've had the mung bean flavor but now its made with edamame & mung bean. I have the black bean in the kitchen but haven't made it yet. So far I find them quite tasty.

    Im so miserable

Have you called the doctor? They can prescribe something for the nausea. You should call ASAP. If you get too nauseous to drink your Protein shakes or Fluid you can end up dehydrated.

    Confused!

Programs are different. I didn't have a pre-op diet other than the typical NPO 12/24 hours prior to surgery. It was recommended to increase protein and veg. So do not worry if you don't have a pre-op diet. Some of us don't. It's also not uncommon for programs to recommend transitioning to real food as soon as possible. A year out I still start most days with a Protein Shake, but this was my habit pre-op. I make my own concoctions in the nutra bullet before I go to the gym. When I do supplement it's with Isopure unflavored powder. I'm vegetarian so most of my protein is from eggs, Beans and yogurt. Shakes are a personal preference and taste. You have to consider whether you want powder or RTD, milk based or clear drinks. The major ones are Premier Protein, Isopure, Syntrac nectar and unjury.
  4. I have the tummy made of steel. The only time I ever vomited was day 1 post op when I accidentally swallowed too large a piece of ice. The worse I ever had since that was going out to eat, eating too fast and getting a really bad tummy ache.

    Isopure question

You can definitely shop around for prices. I found that brick and mortar a GNC membership is a good deal. They are often having sales and sending coupons. I just received one for $10 that I will be using this month.

    Isopure question

The unflavored will make water, juice, etc look a little cloudy. I don't buy the flavored versions so I can't speak on those. However I love using the unflavored to add to soups and teas. The cloudiness doesn't bother me.
  7. View this time as retraining for your new normal. The desire to chew is natural, but I also used it as an opportunity to reevaluate what I eat. I'm the odd ball because I am a vegetarian. I was adding spinach to my Protein drinks. Once I was off soft foods at 6 weeks, I started adding in my raw veg and greens with no issues. BTW @ try other lettuce like butter lettuce, arugula or even cabbages. Kale is also a little easier to eat if you blanche it. Just hang in there, soon this time will be nothing more than a distance memory. I do however, vividly recall wanting to throw those Protein Drinks out the window!

    Food processors

If you don't think you'll be using it long term, I would just buy a cheapie like the Oster smoothie maker ( I think that's what it's called). It runs for about $20 -25 at Target. I have a nutra bullet and love it, but I've had it forever. It's the original model back when they first came out. It's well loved and well used. I was in the happen of making a pre-gym Protein shake before WLS. I also use it to puree spinach and kale which I freeze into cubes and add to make shakes.

    Stool softener

Pre-op I was always regular. I would go at least 2 - 3 times a day. The first month post-op they weren't as "robust" as they were pre-op but Once I went on day 5 I had 1 BM a day. Once I transitioned to soft foods, I was going ~ 2 times a day. A year out I'm back to normal. I am a vegetarian and eat as clean as possible. The lack of processed foods means it take my body less time to break down food, so depending on what I eat I go 1 -3 every day.

    Ok sorry... but need help...

Ask your doctor to prescribe a stool softener like colace. My doctor started me on it from day 1. I had my first BM 5 days post op. Home remedies may vary, but making sure you get in all your fluids will help. During the all liquids phase I would add a bit of spinach to my Protein shakes for the bit of extra Fiber. Once you transition to soft foods and purees try to get in a bit of fiber and mushy veg. One poster's recommendation was for every 2 bites of protein, take 1 o f veg. Walking may also help. In the meantime here's a list of things you could try: ducolax, miralax, milk of magnesia, smooth move tea, prunes or prune juice, black coffee, black Beans, tsp of epsom salt dissolved into organic grapefruit juice.

    Please Help!

Try protein waters like the Syntrax Nectar or Isopure nocarb drinks. You can buy them either online or at vitamin stores like GNC and Vitamn Shoppe. If the drinks are too thick, add water or serve over ice.

    Flopping and Jiggling

THIS ! I make sure all my workout gear has compression in it. My swimsuits have tummy control and my pants and tops are all compression wear. It makes all the difference in the world. The yoga pants I can usually find on sale. Kohls, Lane Bryant clearance, Just my size, etc... My swimsuits, I am going through about every 3 months or so. The last 2 I have purposely purchased a bit snug to give me some room to lose. Once I out grow this currently one I may try to see them as a WLS package. They run about $50 each. I prefer them because they have built in bra, tummy support and do not fade or wear thin like other suits.
  13. A year out, I work out 5 - 6 days a week. I eat 900 - 1050 calories a day and a minimum of 100 gms of Protein daily. I find the secret to feeling full on low calories is more dense foods. I make sure to include healthy fats like avocado or nut butters and plant based carbs like Beans and whole grains such as quinoa in my diet.
  14. I'm vegetarian. I get in 100gm of Protein daily, but I supplement with 100% unflavored whey isolate. Juicing isn't a good idea because it's all concentrated sugar with none of the benefits of the Fiber and roughage you would get from eating the fruit or veg whole. Even vegetables will contain sugars. You'd benefit more from eating a balanced diet and the occasional salad.

    Upset belly

Agreed you need a PPI. Prilossec, omeprazole, zantac etc... Over the counter is good, prescription strength is better. It takes a good 5 days to get into your system and work & it only works when taking it regularly. Call your doc and get a script ASAP.

    When did you introduce carbs?

Carbs are in everything. I think I was allowed breads around 6 mths, but I still shy away from processed white carbs & breads. I get plant based carbs from beans & dairy with no negative impact on my weight loss.

    Concerns about surgery

The only way u could see if damaging vocal cords I'd if you experienced unchecked GERD post op

    Never Hungry!

I'm a year out so I can eat pretty much anything. I will say the no appetite days were mostly protein shakes & soup
  19. BLERDgirl

    Never Hungry!

Yes. I went through a period where I had no interest in food and just ate because I needed to.
  20. I took my omeprazole all at once since I only had issues in the evening. I would take it around 2 -3 ish and like you had a small snack then a sensible dinner. Early on I started beginning my day with a high protein shake. Scoop of Protein powder + ¼ - ½ cup of FAGE0% greek yogurt. I also occasionally added nut butter, a tiny bit of rolled oats or pureed spinach. It helped me meet protein goals early on, kept my calories low, and kept me fuller. You may need to eat more filling foods.

    Multivitamin

You really do need to get this from your program. Recommendations will vary program to program and supplements will depend on your bloodwork. Variables: Some allow chewable or liquid, but not gummie Some recommend 1 multi a day, others 2 B12 can be taken sublingual, patch or shots Depending on bloodwork you may need Iron. (I did not) D3 amounts may vary calcium citrate, can be liquid, chewables or swallowed Does you doctor allow you to swallow pills.
  22. @@KarenLoh - Have you spoken with your doctor about this? At 3 mths I had to increase my omeprazole from 20 mgs to 40 and it made a world of difference. I would try increasing or changing PPI's.
  23. For most people nothing. For some people it cause tummy upset.

    Stool softener

Prunes, prune juice and anything that will add fiber to your diet. Also healthy fats like avocado. I have been regular since day 5 post op. I go 1 - 3 times a day.

    Stool softener

This will taste awful but it will work. 4 oz of organic grapefruit juice. It can be pink or white, but it MUST be 100% grapefruit juice. I found the best kind sold at Trader Joe's. Dissolve 1 tsp of epsom salts in Water. Just enough to dissolve the salt. Add this to the grapefruit juice. That tart of the juice will help mask the taste of the epsom salt. You will go within an hour, no stomach cramping. Also look for ways to add Fiber to your diet so you do not require assistance. Black Beans will give you Protein and fiber. Prune or prune juice will also give you good fiber and help you go. Adding dark green leafy veg like spinach or kale will give you protein and fiber.
