What's your height and starting weight? Lower BMI's often lose slower. How many calories a day are you eating? Do you work out? How about meeting your protein goal? What's a typical food day look like for you? What does your doctor/NUT say about this?

Normal, normal, normal. Touch base with your doctor regarding pain. Sip Water anytime you aren't sipping Protein. suck on ice chips if necessary. You may need another or stronger dosage of PPI (carafate, omeprazole, etc....) Walk as much as you can. Stay off the scale if it makes you crazy.

I am absolutely convinced that taking aquafit classes played a large part in my recovery being pretty much pain free. If I had not been doing core strengthening exercises I doubt I would have been able to get out of the bed in recovery on my own. My advice is do what you can. Any little bit helps. Check your insurance policies. Many have wellness components that may either pay or reimburse for gym memberships. Check out youtube. There is a series of workouts for limited mobility and chair exercise on there. Many people go to the treadmill, often because it appears like an easy way to exercise but my orthos says that's the worse thing someone with a knee or back injury can do. Instead look for ways to strengthen the core and improve balance. Yoga and pilates, even modified are better alternative. Utilize your flexible spending accounts to pay for gym memberships. Find something to do and make out a schedule to do it consistently.

Love after sleeved. Question for my single sleevers
BLERDgirl replied to LMolina1987's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get the gay subculture and vanity issues. I think it will partly be your attitude and partly depend on the amount of work your put in. I see a little melanin in your user pic so that may work in your favor as far as genetics are concerned . I was really big pre-op. I have lost over 100lbs and *still* am a little under midway to goal. So far my upper body doesn't really have any loos skin. My lower body is larger, but it's not bad either. It's too early to tell if I will need plastic there yet. However one thing I have been doing since 2 weeks out is wearing compression yoga wear as much as possible. Combined with eating well and moisturizing religiously with heavy duty products (coconut oil and baby oil gel w/ coco butter, my skin looks pretty good. No stretch marks and only 1 or 2 of the incisions are really noticeable. I haven't ruled out plastics as an end goal, but I am doing everything in my willpower to not need to resort to that. Besides, I am a firm believer that there is a pot for every lid. ETA: Just took a peek at your profile. I find it hard to believe no one wants a cute bear like you! -
Love after sleeved. Question for my single sleevers
BLERDgirl replied to LMolina1987's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't say things haven't been much different for me. I was always fairly popular and had lots of friends. That hasn't changed for me. I will say this, Now that my weight is notably different people comment more on how much I go to the gym. Since I go nearly daily my neighbors and friend have noticed and compliment on that. -
I get emails offering to "try for free just pay shipping" every day. Those types of ads are usually an red flag for junk science. I don't think I will be trying this.

How invested are you in the idea of healthy weight loss?
BLERDgirl replied to skinnyrita's topic in Food and Nutrition
Speaking from past experience, I never felt unwelcome on this site. I am a bit against the grain since I am a vegetarian with many food and medication allergies. I try to eat as clean as possible. I am very much against GMO's and processed foods. I use this forum as an informational tool, but I also do my own homework regarding my healthcare. If someone disagrees with me, that fine. I know what things work for me and my body. -
First of all good for you continuing to try and sip. This is important so you do not end up dehydrated. Are you on a PPI of any kind? Prilosec, omeprazole? Have you spoken with your doctor about this? Perhaps you need an anti nausea med. Have you been able to get up and walk for even short periods of time? Walking will help as will continuing to sip.

My Protein shakes fill me up, but they are shakes I make myself typically before heading to the gym. It's usually Protein powder, greek yogurt, and whatever mix in I have on had. Sometimes that's nut butter, sometimes a bit of rolled oats, sometimes a handful of spinach. I've even added baked sweet potato or pumpkin puree. I think 41lbs at 10 weeks is a good weight loss and eating 500 calories a day is fine. I was eating between 400 - 600 at that point as instructed by my NUT. I was allowed Soup during all liquids and always added a scoop of unflavored protein to it. I am allow regular soup now and have been since week 6 when I was allowed to eat whatever I could tolerate.

2 years post op, not doing well :( sleeve redo/duromine?
BLERDgirl replied to miss_lovesfood's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Diet pills are at best a temporary fix and dangerous on your heart. I would start with seeing a bariatric doctor and getting their opinion. -
My doctor had me on colace for the first 30 days post op. I went on day 5 and have been regular ever since. Try adding a tsp of flax or psyllium powder to your Protein drinks. Here's an interesting article I came across on Fiber.

No protein & no vitamins, is it a problem?
BLERDgirl replied to Melvyn96's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Melvyn96 - The answer is yes it's a problem. You will be tired, you will be malnourished and eventually you will stop losing because the body will go into starvation mode. You have to find some way to get in Protein. shakes, RTD, yogurt or any other food. You also need to sip Water whenever you are not taking in protein and you need to be moving. This board cannot replace your program. Every program has a slightly different protocol and none of us are your medical team. They gave you a handbook. READ it. If that's too much, call them. -
Depends on your body and how you heal. Everyone if different. A week out I was pretty much back to normal energy wise. Make sure you are getting as close to your protein and fluid levels as possible, along with taking your vitamins and supplements.
-
Honestly this will pass. Of course you will be hungry. You're only drinking liquids. It will get better as you transition to regular food, but if you are not having head hunger and you are on an effective dosage of PPI, you should not get ravenously hungry. Normal hungry, sure. That hunger that makes your eat half the refrigerator? Hopefully no.

Anyone else feel scared they'll gain it back?
BLERDgirl replied to Debbieduck4's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@Babbs & @@CowgirlJane - you're both are right. I am tenacious. I also have always loved myself no matter what my weight is. I do use that fear of not succeeding to motivate myself, instead of paralysing me. I think a certain amount of fear is healthy when kept in proper perspective. -
FYI if it turns out to be an allergy, check out some of the vegan protein alternatives. Bob's Red Mill has just come out with a collection of vegan powders that have 20gms of protein. It's not as high as the traditional powders and drinks, but it may help get you through the early liquid stages. I plan to try them as I would like to cut down on the amount of dairy I consume.

No protein & no vitamins, is it a problem?
BLERDgirl replied to Melvyn96's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In the September thread you said don't like the shakes and eggs make you sick, but you find the things in your program binder "extreme". What exactly did you expect from a surgery that removes 75% of your stomach? My advice is to call your nutritionist or doctor and review things with them. -
Keep trying different kinds until you find one that works. Also check out kefir drinks and protein waters like the Isopure nocarb as alternatives.

Anyone else feel scared they'll gain it back?
BLERDgirl replied to Debbieduck4's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Not only do I get scared I'll regain, I get scared that I will be on of those who stops before they hit goal. I lost over 100lbs, I need to lose at least that much more to even be considered fat and no longer morbidly obese. I follow my program and exercise regularly, but some days I get this nagging voice in the back of mind that I won't make it. I've never been one to give up so I try an use that as impetus to keep moving forward, but I'm not gonna lie, that voice is there. -
YES! I report everyone I see but there does seem to be an increase lately.

No protein & no vitamins, is it a problem?
BLERDgirl replied to Melvyn96's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to get a minimum of 60 gms of Protein and 64 ounces of fluids. Protein is a key factor in successful and healthy weight loss. It also helps you maintain healthy hair and nails while you are losing. If you can do this without shakes that's fine. The goal is to get most of your nutrients from food anyway. As to whether or not you need supplements, again, that's up to you. If you can get enough of those Vitamins and nutrients through food, then you are fine. Most of us can't simply because we can't eat that much food. You should discuss these decisions with your bariatric program. Hopefully they are doing regular bloodwork to monitor your levels. I would recommend taking at least a multi Vitamin. Personally I aim for 100gms of protein daily as I find that I lose better. Even a year out there is simply no way I could get that much protein in without some supplemental assistance. A hearty Protein shake before the gym starts my day off and keeps me going.
