    I gave up today

Why not step away from this for a week? Don't think about or read about any of this and then come back and look at your options? Sometimes when I have crazy decisions to make taking a day to step back allows me time to calm down and I can often come up with a solution.

    Filled with regret

From what I gather there's a host of PPI's that can be used. I think omeprazole is the one most frequently recommended and prescribed by doctors

    Food Intake

If you are not into measuring, get some bowls that you know only hold ¼ - ½cup and use those. I even have a serving spoon that has a measuring cup attachment.

    Adding protein to mashed potatoes?

Sure, why not. Whatever make it easier to get it in. FYI - I find I find it best to add proteins to foods off the heat. So add the mash to your bowl and gradually mix in your protein.

    Offically in the 200s today

I'm 5 well 6 lbs away from that myself. Of course I would hurt my back and have to stay out of the gym this week. Congrats on hitting that milestone!
  6. Most of that is probably still residual swelling from surgery. It will even out eventually.

    Question from a pre-op

Omeprazole is for stomach acid. woops. typo let me correct.

    :-(

By week 2 I was ready to throw my Protein shakes out the window. I had to get creative. I could have nut butter so I would mix some into my shakes in the nutra bullet then thin it out with a little Water. I also added unflavored protein to kefir drinks. I also made bean soup by pureeing and then straining black Beans then thinning it out with veg broth and adding some unflavored Protein Powder. I *had* to have at least one savory item a day. My palette was blown away from all the constant sweet.

    Starving

I t may be the protein shakes. You can as suggest, try the clear ones or try mixing them with non dairy milks or water. You may also want to call your doctor and either have the dosage of your PPI increased or have him give you something for nausea. You can also speak with him about when you should transition to soft foods and purees. Some people feel better once they move onto solid foods. Either way you should touch base with your medical team.

Call the on call line or go to the ER.

    I gave up today

If I understand you correctly it's the work schedule that is preventing you? Can you stay in the weight loss program and maybe aim for next year for surgery if need be? At least that way you would have documented weight loss attempts. Either way, wishing you the best!

    My story

Welcome! I was over 400 when I was sleeved.

    Help - scared

I agree with @@Inner Surfer Girl clear your house out of bad food, try and move your appointment up and reach out for counseling. Addictions are hard, it's okay to need help.

    Pre-op "food"

Sounds like you have some samples coming from Unjury. Why not go to GNC or Vitamin Shoppe and buy 1 of a few brands of liquid proteins and try them to see what your taste buds like? Fat Free soups - I like Progresso and Amy's brand, again it depends on your taste buds. I like FAGE0% greek yogurt, however it's thick and not sweet at all. I like that slightly sour taste, but not everyone does. You can buy a single serving container and try it. One thing I found useful was to mix a big of the FAGE with the milk based proteins (powdered or RTD). The sourness of the yogurt balanced out the overly sweet taste of the protein shake and I got that extra protein boost.
  15. Agreed, but I would caution using any products that contain alcohol anywhere near my face or on products that go near your face. Alcohol is *really* bad for the skin. When I wash my brushes I am almost fanatical about rinsing them off since some brush cleaners can contain alcohol. As for break outs, the last one I had was maybe 3 years ago when I tried argon oil.
  16. Everyone is right. Go slow. Do what you can to stay hydrated. Drink beverages at room temp or warm. Try diluting the Isopure or try another brand. Some parts of this are trial and error. Pain 2 days out is normal.
  17. I can't pinpoint just one thing, but I do really appreciate the encouragement here. I am happy when I log on and see so many people doing well and even the ones not doing well but still hanging in there make me happy.
  18. I see a dermatologist regularly. If fact my dermatologist is also helping me monitor my hair. Turns out I have a quarter sized spot on my scalp that is scarring alopecia and the rest is likely reversible. My skin however got a big thumbs up from her. Despite the trauma of facial shingles and losing over 100lbs my face looks good. No sagging and only minor crows feet. I'll stick with the coconut oil. Water based lotions rarely work for people of color.
  19. I did the same thing except I used greek yogurt (13gms protein) and almond butter.

    Is a blender needed?

A blender makes it easier, but no it's not necessary. I had a nutra bullet long before WLS, but I like to cook and have a bunch of appliances and gadgets.
  21. @ - Jut keep doing what you are doing. What you are feeling is perfectly normal. Stay hydrated, keep up with the Protein & walking. Since you returned to school make sure to sneak in a cat nap whenever you can.
  22. @@Dar200 - If you think the addiction is that serious you may also want to consider therapy even if it's just short term. The surgery will help, but you have to learn to develop new tools to deal with stress and change your views on food.

    Difficulty swallowing

I've never heard of someone having swallowing nearly a year post op. It could be GERD, but I would call the doctor. Since you are nearing a year out perhaps he could order a swallow study to make sure everything is okay.

    Question from a pre-op

I would ask the doctor to write a script for colace (stool softener)and omeprazole or a PPI (acid) at discharge. Better to practice preventative care. It's good to have several water bottles available as well.
  25. @@ASUgrad - I'm a makeup gal. I had to create a vanity with filing cabinets to hold all my stuff. However for skin care I find that the more natural and basic something is, the better it works for my skin. I am somehow this weird combination of high maintenance and hippie.
