    Hummus

Hummus is a dip made from ground chickpeas. It's not really spicy so buying some that's just plain would be safe. I also like it with extra garlic, sundries tomatoes or a bit of jalapeño. Sabra brand is my favorite, but I've also made it from scratch. It's just chickpeas, tahini (ground sesame), olive oil, dash of lemon juice & a bit of garlic. Blend until smooth.

    Anxiety Meds

What on earth? Where do they find these unprofessional dolts?
  3. Have you tried home cooked food vs a highly processed meal?

    Salsa?

@@BigViffer - No worries. We don't all have the same tastebuds. What's yummy to me may indeed be nasty to others and that's okay. BTW I don't eat chips and salsa. I like salsa. I often use it instead of salad dressing and I prefer making my own over store bought.

    Judged at the hospital

Oh Hell no! Make sure you report this. Most hospitals's ask for a patient review. They were both beyond unprofessional.

    Salsa?

I'm a kitchen sink gal. My base is always diced tomato, green chili (or jalepeño) and onion. I'll also add diced peaches or mango when in season. If I have it I like to make one with pineapple, red onion and cilantro. Lime/Lemon juice, salt & pepper to taste. Let sit in the fridge at least an hour before serving. Another variation is to add black beans (I use canned) and corn.

Then it may mean nothing. Try and stay positive.

    Psych appointment

The psychologist will send the report to the surgeon. Worst case scenario they ask you to get counseling for 6 mths before giving you a surgery date.
  9. Being too full feels differently for everyone. I get a really bad tummy ache. Other get the sweats and other bad feelings. You don't want to find out your breaking point. Continue to measure and only eat the amount recommended by your doctor. Technically speaking you don't have a "pouch" . The surgeon removed the stretchy part of your tummy so no, your sleeve cannot stretch.

I pick and choose which threads I reply to as well. If multiple people have responded I tyr to leave it at that.

    Feeling beat down...

No it doesn't. The pre-op testing is designed to prepare you for a successful surgical experience. The psych eval is not merely a hoop the insurance companies make you go through, it's to access where you are and hopefully what type of supports you may need. Depression and anxiety post op doesn't happen all the time, but it does occur. If your medical team is asking you to wait, it's likely in your own best interest.

    Search Works...

People rarely use it. I used to suggest that and even provided a few links, but most people don't bother.

    Post op struggle.

If you have to ask then likely the answer is YES it's a problem. For many of us this is exactly the type of behavior that got us obese. if your doctor didn't specify call them back for clarification. Ask for specific examples. 48 grms of protein is low, minimal is 60 and many practices are changing that to 80.
  14. It's not unusual to not feel full on liquids. The closer you get back to eating regular food, the sooner the restrictions should kick in. In the meantime follow your NUT's eating guidelines.

    Feeling beat down...

See the therapist. With the big weight loss there can be a rather large hormone dump. There are lots of people on this forum who had a really rough time of it due to post-op depression. The quick weight loss can also mess with a person's medication levels.

    Finally

Ask your doctor what their protocol is. I didn't have a clear liquid stage.

Pre-op just look to foods like dark leafy green veg, Beans if you like them, apples, whole grains. Post-op it gets more challenging. Any easy fix I recommend would be wheatgerm, flax powder or psylium powder. A tsp added to yogurt, Soup or a Protein shake daily might help keep you regular. You could also use these food pre-op as well. Keeping a food diary on Myfitnesspal is a good place to start because you can start tracking what foods give you the best bang for the buck.

    Very New - Very Lost

A lot of programs provide their patients with binders or handbooks that detail all this info. If the program you choose does not, you can make your own with a binder from the dollar store. You can separate it by Vitamins, Protein supplements, and food/diet/recipes. Google online for bariatric handbooks to give you an idea. Mine was my bible for those first few months.

How much should we be eating?

Google online for a bariatric handbook. It will give a basic overview of what foods to eat at what stages. Do you have anyone who is providing follow up? You also need to monitor your bloodwork to make sure you are meeting your Vitamin & nutrient levels. As for eating, the basic rule is Protein first, then veg, then anything else if you have room. That means eggs and bacon would have been a better choice than eggs and toast.
  21. I would change the language a bit. Calling yourself a "bad sleever" is like calling a kid the "problem child". Eventually it becomes a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy. Some of us follow everything to the letter and others allow for and plan an occasional treat. It sound like you have some good supports from therapy you currently are seeing to the new place you are checking out. Reaching out is a good thing. The only other thing I would recommend is reaching out to the nutritionist with your program and doing some more concrete planning with your daily menus. It might be worth while to purposely plan in some treats for yourself. Hang in there, continue with your supports.

    QUESTION, HELP!

That's your body craving the sugar addiction. If you drink some there depending on how early post op you are it may be uncomfortable on your tummy. I would try something else. When it comes down to breaking addictions some time you just have to wait them up. Since you had this surgery to become healthy do you really want to cave into this?
  23. You don't have to drink Proteins shakes. You *do* need to keep your Protein levels up. Same thing with nutrients that you get from Vitamins and supplements. I hope you are at least getting regular bloodwork done to monitor your levels so that any potential deficiency can be caught early. At this point you are playing Russian roulette with your health. Not smart. As to can not meeting your Fluid and protein goals effect your weight loss? I think you answered that question for yourself when you said you only lose about 2 lbs a month. Call your medical team, sit down with your nutritionist and come up with a better plan. You are risking your health and life by not following basic rules of bariatric surgery. I actually know someone who had a bypass and didn't follow through. She had surgery 10 years ago. She went down to a size 4. She's now back up to a 16, has no teeth at only 55 years old and has broken her ankle and foot multiple times because her bones are weakened due to not taking her supplements. The last one was this summer and took mths to heal, because of the deficiency she has. Don't let that be you.

    Skin Discoloration

Could it just be dirt from spinning around your finger since it's loose?
  25. BLERDgirl

    Psych eval

No it should just be basic questions designed to get you views on weight loss, your expectations, etc.... This shouldn't be deep therapy designed to know your past history. It's just to access your mental state surrounding this surgery.
