    Latin/Chinese/Syrian recipes

I eat lots of hummus. Chinese I like tofu w/ veg or miso Soup. Puerto Rican I get manduras or tostones & rice & Beans if I can get my friends mom to make it withou pork or lard My fav is Indian. I usually get molov kofta (so?) Indian Chinese or Thai are always easy since I can get something either with beans or with tofu. I'm actually planning to make a miso soup tomorrow. I'll add some unflavored Protein powder to the miso broth then add some bay Bok Choy & fresh ginger. I'll either dice doe tofu it add a bit of TVP. Other than the Bok Choy the soup is perfect for any stage. If you eat meat you could swap out the tofu for meat of choice

    Ahhhhh......warm food

I have that . I used it post-op. It works like a charm.

MyFitnessPal bug is getting to me....

Unless you zeroed it out before you started using it post-op, it won't rest. It's counting that previous weight loss. I did the same thing. Mine is 2 - 3 lbs off. I supposed you could try email admin, but honestly I just ignore it. The correct weight loss is on here and on my polar flow app. so I just shrug it off.
  6. @@WLSResources/ClothingExch - Texture wise Artic Zero is not exactly gritty, but you know it's not ice cream. It honestly feels like a frozen Protein shake. I can't describe it any better than that. Halo Top on the other hand taste and feels exactly like ice cream. One of the main reasons why I have had it exactly once in the year I've been sleeved. It's that good. However, if you wanted ice cream for a celebration or something, I would strongly recommend Halo Top over Artic Zero.

    Help

Are you logging this or just eyeballing? The only thing I see might cause issues is the canned soup. Depending on the brand the sodium could be quite high. Are you getting in all your fluids? Again, I recommend reviewing this with your NUT. The only other thing I would suggest would be to make the Snacks more protein rich and if you are able to exercise at least 30 minutes daily.

    African American vsgers!

I think it took me a good 2 weeks to hit 60gms protein & 64ounce fluids. Just keep trying to do better each day. I never had any gas pain. If she's not experiencing any, it may not happen to her. Not everyone gets it.

So thirsty all the time time!

Keep sipping or get a clear protein drink like the Isopure nocarb and mix the two.

    Popped stitches?

Sounds like you bruised an already tender area. I doubt you popped your stitches but if you are concerned, call you doctor.
  11. I bought mine on sale at Whole Foods
  12. Halo Top taste like real ice cream. Artic Zero taste like a frozen Protein shake.

    It's good to be full

As others have mentioned, post-op the goal is not to get that full, overstuffed feeling. In fact that feeling can be quite painful. The goal is to eat enough. If this is a mind set you have, work on it now. That sounds like acid. Call your doctor and get a PPI like omeprazole. Acid is not a good thing for sleevers since it can lead to ulcers

    Help

Call your NUT and review what you should be eating with them. Ask about a PPI.
  15. Have you ever been scoped before? Trust me you won't want to have this procedure while you're sick. I would reschedule.
  16. I don't see it as unethical at all. Part of how they keep cost down is by not having all those insurance hoops to jumps through. They often give them manuals and put the onus on the patient to actually read the information and do their homework. Like I mentioned there was a woman on here who posted she wasn't enough enough or taking supplements but couldn't be bothered to read the manual. On the other hand their are plenty of self pay posters here who were self pay, did their homework and are doing well because they researched enough to know what they needed to do.
  17. Self pay patients may not get as much of that type of instruction. I even read one post where the person didn't want to be bothered to read the manual provided by the doctor
  18. Seriously try a home cooked meal instead of lean cuisines. Real food is not only more filling, it's more nutritious. Half a poached chicken breast over chopped spinach with some of the broth to keep it moist is easy to make & you can cook a batch to eat over the course of a week. A chopped hard boiled egg made into egg salad and using half plain Greek yogurt & half mayo is another nutritionally sound meal. Lastly you are a fairly recent postoperative. It's not unusual to not feel restrictions early on. Keep in mind you had this surgery to change eating habits. Try to stick to the typical recommendation of 2 - 4 ounces. If you are feeling what you interpret as hunger, try using a PPI such as omeprazole. Do not test the limits by overeating early on.
  19. I agree with @ragincagun. If you don't have a fancy watch, just set timers on your smartphone

    Hummus

I have been vegetarian probably 15/20 years now. I switched in the late 90's. I haven't had any issues getting in my protein. I supplement but also eat a lot of eggs & Greek yogurt. Otherwise I get my protein from whole grains like quinoa and dark green veg. I had s super easy surgical experience and a sleeve seemingly made of steel. I was allowed to eat anything as tolerated at 6weeks post op. I eat salads nearly daily. Raw veg has never caused a problem for me. I am considering going vegan once I hit goal.
  21. Depends on who I'm talking to and where. I have never shied away from owning the fact that I had bariatric surgery. However if it's just someone in passing I often just say "a lot of hard work". If I'm having a sit down conversation then I definitely talk more about my surgery. Mostly because I don't want people to think it's "the easy way out" or some lazy short cut. I've literally worked my butt off to get here and I'm still working on it. I also don't want people to feel ashamed to have this if it's the right thing for them. However, I'm not going to argue about it with anyone who wants to challenge my decision or make me feel bad for this life choice.

    Unflavored Protein Powders

I use Isopure as well. I have the GNC card which give me a discount plus they send coupons. I paid $42.99 for that same 3lb tub.

    Taking Heed with Hummus.

I can't stop :'( I only buy the one ounce to go packs and never keep more than 2 of those in the house. In fact one of my favorite ways to sneak in more steps is to go to the Walgreens where I usually buy them, walk the perimeter of the store and buy a single 1 ounce pack of pistachios. It makes me feel like I've earned my snack.

    Coffee and creamer

I was allowed decaf on full liquids. I used vanilla Protein powder instead of creamer. I used a coffee warmer USB to keep it hot.
