  2. I was pretty much doing that and I would take a walk in the afternoons for about 20 - 30 minutes, mostly because I was bored.
  3. I just came across and email from Mambo Sprouts advertising Reserveage Protein powder. It appears to meet the requirements you were seeking. A quick google came up with a list of others.

    60 grams protein?

Unflavored protein (try plain soy if lactose intolerant) added to soup or broth. Nut butter for a snack. When you make egg salad instead of mayo use half plain Greek yogurt and half mayo. It taste the same but boost your protein

    100 pounds gone party!

Now is the time to learn how to celebrate without food. That's a slippery slope that lead many of us to needing surgery in the first place. Why not celebrate by pampering yourself? Get a mani/pedi or treat yourself to a massage? I did a spa day with girlfriends this summer. We bought them off groupon.

    UHC is driving me crazy!

6 mths is not the end of the world. If that's what your insurance requires, you'll have to suck it up and go with it.

Its taking a toll on me

You need to pick one nutritionist you trust and work with them. Each and every program has a different set of protocols and requirements. If you hop from one to another you will always be confused.
  16. The informational seminar I attended was free of charge and there was no program fee attached to my program My only out of pocket expenses other than copays was the fee for the nutrition class and I was told at my first appointment that depending on my insurance I would have to pay for either the psych eval or the nutrition class and how much each one was. Did you sign anything that requesting authorization to bill insurance? read over any paperwork they gave you carefully. Otherwise I would fight this bill and I would find another program.

    Comfort food when sick

I like black rice. It actually has a decent amount of protein in it. I make a stir fry with it. I also like baked or roasted sweet potatoes.

Its taking a toll on me

You're on soft foods. So what foods do you like? You don't have to eat hummus or refried Beans. Find something high Protein that you like and eat that. Do you like chicken? Poach a chicken breast, cut it up and then finely dice it. Make sure you have broth or a tiny bit of gravy. Remember it needs to be melt in your mouth soft. Measure out ¼ cup and try to slowly eat that. If you like Soups, try your favorite Soup with a tsp of unflavored Protein powder added. (Do not cook the protein powder in it. Add it once it has been put in a bowl or cup).

    First Restaurant Dinner Out?

I never cared what anybody thought about how much I did or didn't eat. I think I was 5 or 6 weeks out. Went to ihop, ordered and omelette & got fruit as my side. Probably ate a quarter of the omelette & 1 or 2 bites of fruit. Took the rest home.
  20. Yes. It will depend on how you are healing/recuperating and his protocol. If you are ever unsure or unclear, always ask for clarification. Some doctor's do a blanket 6 weeks post-op, others 3 months. It will vary program to program. My doctor said everything is OK and I'm much better. But he didn't tell me when I can do my exercises ... Then that's what you ask. Can I exercise? What type of exercise? I typically do ______ , is that okay?

    Expectations

The liquid phase is the toughest. I had an all liquid phase for 2 weeks and by the end of week 1 wanted to toss those drinks out the window. I'm 13mths out and can pretty much eat anything. Today for lunch was egg salad in lettuce wraps. I'll have a protein shake for a snack before my workout tonight and dinner is black bean pasta with a pumpkin sauce. I still aim for 100 gms of protein a day. According to MyFitness pal my projected protein for today will be 113. It gets better. Eventually you can try out other protein drinks, shakes and RTD options. One option that helped during the liquid phase was mixing unflavored protein powder with vegetable broth. It was a nice change from the sweetness of protein shakes.

  23. Talk to your doctor. It depends on your healing and your doctor's protocol. I was active at the gym pre-op . I returned week 3 with no restrictions.
  24. I haven't had any trouble and I eat out frequently. I first ate out at 6 weeks post op. Went to iHop with my sister. Ordered and omelet and got fruit as my side. I order Water to drink then pushed it aside. Of course most of it went home but it wasn't difficult. If you focus on the socialization aspect of eating out then it shouldn't be a problem. If you are easily tempted to eat what you shouldn't then I would wait. I order either a Protein based main or an app and ask for it to be brought out with everyone else's meal. Skip the drink orders and request water then put it to the side so you aren't eating and drinking.
