Ditto. I was told a bath, pool, etc... was fine once the incisions had scabbed over.

IIRC I think the biggest concern was they are not whey isolates.

How often is WLS aborted?

Would the mesh show up on a scan of some sort. Xray or cat scan perhaps? -
How does it make you feel? Have your called your doctor? Your nutritionist? Not eating delays your healing and your weight loss.

It's perfectly normal this soon after surgery. I was pretty active post op but needed a nap each day for the first few weeks. Just listen to your body and take the rest as needed.

How often is WLS aborted?
BLERDgirl replied to DaisyAmy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had uterine cancer 10 years ago. I understand that feeling. I think it lurked in the back of my mind until I hit the 5 year mark. From what my doctor says its rare that he cannot perform surgery. Follow your doctor's instructions and you should be fine. -
call your program or doctor

Call your NUT that what she gets paid for.

Are you eventually able to eat anything?
BLERDgirl replied to heidikate's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Neither is pleasant. Thankfully I have only heard of them and not experienced them first hand. Slimming is when you eat too fast and something about the food going too fast into a small space causes your tummy to back up and it displaces your saliva with the food so the saliva comes back up creating a slimy sensation. Also called the foamies. Dumping is when the food sugars and/or fat are too much for your body to handle and you get a version of the runs. Dumping is rare for sleevers. Bypass patients typically get it because of how their bodies are rerouted and the malabsorption that comes with it. The worse I have experienced from eating to fast was a horrible tummy ache that took hours to go away. That was all the reminder I ever need. -

What the heck does this mean?!

I had that. They finally unhooked it because I wasn't suing it. -
If it's a chain restaurant MFP likely has listings for it. 10,000 step is recommended activity level for an able body person. Many wear fitness trackers to reminds themselves to move.

I never vomited, just got a really bad tummy ache for a bit. Now you know. Less is more.

It's an uncomfortable feeling. It will pass try walking a bit. The first time that happened to me it took an hour to go away. I ended up alternating between walking and sipping hot water.

Plan, plan, plan. Try to have at least 2 things in your arsenal that will get you at or close to 60 grms of Protein. If you drink one shake a day, you can also add a Protein Bar as snack. Always look for high protein foods. Keep single serving packs of nuts in my car. I would recommend keep a food dairy at least in the beginning. It will help you get organized and give you a better idea of what food work best. Scheduling a meeting with your nutritionist to review your nutrition goals might help as well.

I am not a fake sugar person. I use raw honey as sweetener quite often. If that is your only sugar source it's not going to hurt. However once you are able to add in fruit, you may want to monitor that.

What the heck does this mean?!
BLERDgirl replied to freemommy×4's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pain just wasn't that bad. I never used pain meds once I woke up. Nothing through the IV or orally. I have to say it helped tremendously with being more alert and able to walk because I wasn't drugged up. -
No it won't stretch you stomach. Next time start with just 1 egg. I was full on 1 egg made with a tiny bit of cheese and greek yogurt to keep them moist for a really long time.

Chili was allowed on my plan at the soft food stage. Not quite immediately but by week 5. Whatever you do, just try to stay tactful with your suggestions. -
Are you North or South Jersey? Most major hospitals have the Bariatric Center of Excellence certification.

I started with calling the program. I knew my insurance would be accepted and I was certain I would be eligible based on my weight alone. I did need an insurance referral from my PCP, but that was just a simple email much the same as if I was going to the allergist or any other doctor. "I have an appointment to see _______. I need a referral." The program I went with requires you attend and informational seminar before they will even schedule you with the surgeon. The seminar route was a good way to go because it gives you a chance to see if this is the hospital/program that is best for you. I would recommend looking at more than one if possible and always seek a center of excellence. There can be differences in philosophies for each program as well as a how they handle post-op support that can mean the difference between success and frustration.

My nutritionist described pureed as baby food consistency and soft foods as anything that breaks apart easily. Chicken pate = puree, chicken salad (sans nuts or celery) = soft food.
