  1. oops sorry about the double post.
  2. Nut butter does the trick for me. Justin's has these small snack packs that aren't too bad. They come with pretzels sticks for dipping but I don't really like pretzels so I don't always eat them. I just like that it's small so there isn't much damage done by eating the whole thing and I get 5 gms of Protein in it.

    Shakes on a budget

The popular choice appears to be premier Protein. They are fairly popular in terms of taste and price. They are offering coupons on their website.
  4. Here's your chance to change that habit. You can see that you slipped up & identify that it was due to stress. So make that "what if" a " what could I do instead?" Try to come up with 2 - 3 options. Put them in your phone, write them on your mirror, stick them on the fridge. The next stressful event, look at them and choose one. That's how you change behaviors
  5. Dukan IIRC is similar to Atkins. My sole purpose in this is to not engage in a fad diet ever again. I want the practice of 3 healthy meals and a snack a day if necessary to be my at of life. I can acknowledge that a slip up on occasion may happen, but I want that to be the exception not the norm. I have promised myself to eat right and exercise. I feel like I was given a gift. When I have trouble I plan to use support groups and any tool I can find to stay on track. ETA: Dukan diet. - Similar to Atkins in that it is in low carb, high Protein, limited fruits and veg.

    Clothes - when to purge?

I purged as things became too big. I was very happy to see those 5x & 4x clothes go!

    Support group help

It's a support group so hopefully the people attending understand it's not bragging but encouragement. Since the staff specifically asked you to attend they most feel that way as well. I think it would be a great idea for you to attend. Hopefully you can provide real life practical examples of how to survive post op life.
  8. There are no magic pills or potions that will make you lose weight. Especially not any sold OTC or on a late nigh infomercial. I tried my share of diet, but never even bothered with these so called herbal supplements. As to having doubts about surgery. NOPE not a single one. I think by the time I admitted to myself I needed this I knew it was what I needed to do. Through all my testing I never once wavered in that conviction right up to surgery day.

How did you get rid of your

It's may be genetics. You can spot lose and there's no magical creme. Especially not for fat on the last. Or it may just end up being the last place you lose.

    Not feeling well at all

Have you tried changing the brand of protein shake you use? Maybe try a protein drink like Isopure no carb or Syntrax Nectars? Post-op the liquids phase whether you do clears then all liquids or go straight to all liquids is the most challenging part, then it's just slowly re-introducing foods. I was fortunate enough to not have any nausea at any point. It's a good idea to check in with your NUT and see what she recommends. Good communication with a competent NUT is invaluable during this process. If you have one you trust, definitely lean on her.
  12. I was a vegetarian (not vegan) for like 6 years back in the 90's and you'd be surprised how many people often proclaimed "I'm a vegetarian, too. But I do eat fish." I quit trying to argue. Being from Wisconsin, I think I might get arrested it I didn't eat dairy. . Mmmm.....cheese That one drives me nuts. Especially since I'm deathly allergic to seafood. Like the time I was literally in the hospital due to an allergic reaction, ordered the vegetarian meal and was brought a giant piece of fish!
  13. @@WLSResources/ClothingExch - if it returned it would likely have to go yo a second hand outlet. There are plenty of them selling gently used or refurbished.
  14. It's been a weird day for me and your post made me cry. I feel the same way. "If only I had done this 10 years ago." However there are no "what ifs". There's only now and I am determined to live it to the full.
  15. You have to be careful with these "try it out at home for xxx days -- if you don't like it, money back, no questions asked." When the bed is delivered, the delivery men take away the one you have, which would make great good sense if you already know that new item is like Baby Bear's bed.. If you then want to return the new one, what will you sleep on? I have no idea how insistent the delivery people are -- whether it's a strong-arm operation? A scameroo? Buying a bed's a britch. Not a scam or strong arm deal. These guys wouldn't put up with BS. I just know they've been raving about this bed. Also removal of the old mattress is optional, much like when buying appliances. I kept my old fridge when I purchased a new one because my local utility company as a recycle program where they will remove the old appliance for free and pay you for it.

What is your most embarrassing NSV?

My slip hanging and nearly sliding off because it's too big. I eventually ended up pinning the waist band. I n fact I have a few elastic waist skirt that I think I'm going to slit open the waistband and stitch up to get through the winter.

Try 4 ounces of apple juice diluted. Yes it's fast energy but you're just trying to make it to Monday and that may get you over the hump.
  18. Your not vegan if your eating dairy and white meats. Not even close. You can buy plan unflavored whey proteins. I buy Isopure unflavored. It's 100% whey isolate with no additives. If you want Hemp protein I would recommends Bob's Red Mills. Their products are non GMO and organic. Manitoba Hemp Protein is another popular one. I haven't used the Bob's Red Mill powder but I have sampled the Manitoba. It's okay. I find that most plant based protein powders can be a little gritty. If you have a nutra bullet or something similar I would recommend using that to blend your shakes.
  19. I use cold press virgin coconut oil for a myriad of things; hair and skin being the most prominent. Growing up I've use baking soda in a pinch when we ran out of toothpaste and as a young adult when I ran out of deodorant. I'm also very big on use organic Apple Cider vinegar.
  20. Friends of mine purchased a Leesa mattress. Apparently there is a 100 day money back guarantee. They absolutely love it. One is an average sized guy and the other is 6 foot lumberjack build.
  21. Feeling stressed lately. I know the reasons why (many). The difference is I am not giving in to comfort foods. I have made plans to better cope instead. So right now I am planning to stop in to a few support groups and change my workout routine. The next person who even *thinks* this is the easy way out will get punched soundly in the face. I am working my butt off for this.

    Pureed foods struggle.

Get a usb coffee warmer. It will change your life. I pretty much did Soup, broth, ricotta, hummus and yogurt for those 2 weeks. Tried refried Beans. Wasn't a fan. Odd because I love beans.

You should confirm with your nutritionist. Every program has it's preference. Mine allowed chewables but not gummies.

10 weeks out and feeling hungry!

Early on I needed to have 3 meals and at least one planned snack a day. Even though I was eating less I was hungry because I couldn't eat enough at one time. Once I added in an afternoon snack and upped my PPI to 40 mgs I was good to go.
