Who provides your insurance, your employer? If so contact HR. find out coverage dates for both insurance companies. Then request you medical records in writing from both doctors. Use all of that documentation in the event you need to submit an appeal.

Chewables were temporary for me. Over the course of the year the amount of supplements also changed in response to my bloodwork.

In the hospital- need good vibes
BLERDgirl replied to Tssiemer1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please try not to let this keep you down. Better to deal with the kidney now rather than it cause complications post op. Hubby may be frustrated at the entire situation, not you personally. 5 hours in an ER will try the best of us. Please encourage mom to get her possible cancer situation taken care of ASAP. As an 11 year survivor I can tell you that many cancers can be cured if they are caught early and dealt with. Time is a valuable tool in battling the big C. Don't let her waste hers. Hang in there. Get this resolved and then move forward. -
Uncomfortable running
BLERDgirl replied to AWD12368's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Agreed. I use compression yogas pants and tops. Also invest in one or 2 good sports bras. I actualy like Lane Bryants from the Ava Viz line. I just buy them when they go on sale. Enell is another excellent brand of sport bras. -

@RJ'S/beginning - I am often concerned with the language that people use, especially to describe themselves. You, my friend are not a monster by any stretch of the imagination. You are a survivor. If you want a smoother look in your clothes, buy some shapewear. I There are a thousand different types on the market now for every sort of outfit. -
How to delete topics from "My Content" list?
BLERDgirl replied to WLSResources/ClothingExch's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
Yes posting in a thread will show up in My Content because it's a record of where you have posted on the forums. That why the one you have unfollowed still show. I'm pretty sure you can't delete items out of it unless that thread is deleted. -
Crock pot steel cut oats. I like them but could never get them as soft/creamy as I liked. Then I discovered making them in the crock pot. Nothing fancy. Just plain steel cut oats. 1 cup is enough for me and last for 2 or 3 meals. I like to rinse them before cooking. Dump in the crock pot with enough Water to cover. I toss in a cinnamon stick and a bit of salt. I also add about a quarter cup of raisins or dried cranberries and then an 11ounce container of RTD vanilla Protein powder or a scoop of vanilla Protein Powder dissolved in water. 1 tbsp of brown sugar is an optional addition. Stir well and cook on low overnight. I also made a snack last night that hit my sweet spot. 2tbsp unsweetened shredded coconut. 1 scoop vanilla protein powder. 1 tbsp of water. Blend in nutra bullet until it makes a paste. Fold into half a cup of plain greek yogurt. It tasted like the insides of a mounds. Optional garnshes I plan to try: cacao powder and almond slivers. One of my favorite dinners is black bean, topped with a fried egg, shredded cheese, dice tomatoes, dice avocado and 1 tbsp of greek yogurt.

Surgery Aborted (Please help)...
BLERDgirl replied to SalOdyssey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry I missed your ticker. I was looking at the info under the avatar. So you went in at 476. First of all, congrats on a job well done. You've done a lot of hard work to get to this point. Secondly let me encourage you to get second opinions and specifically ask about surgery with a high starting weight. I was 412 DOS surgery and I'm nearly a foot shorter than you so I had a lot of weight in a small package. I'm nearly 14 mths post op and down 114lbs from my highest weight of 414. I hope things work out for you. Please keep us posted. -
What does not having the uncomfortable feeling when eating anymore mean ?
BLERDgirl replied to volsfan82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's not uncommon to see a slight uptick when transitioning from liquids to solids and regular eating. Make sure you are meeting your protein and fluid goals and add in exercise as you heal. The scale should eventually start moving in the right direction. -
Surgery Aborted (Please help)...
BLERDgirl replied to SalOdyssey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You might want to consult a second surgeon. My BMI was 73 DOS. My doctor performed surgery laporascopically via robot and had no problems with my liver. If you could loose 100lbs on your own, why would you need surgery? That sound a bit unfair. You don't mention your starting weight or current weight. There are a few forums for people with over 100lbs to lose. You may want to check those out. -
What does not having the uncomfortable feeling when eating anymore mean ?
BLERDgirl replied to volsfan82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It just sounds like you are healing so the tummy is no longer sore when eating. Please do not get in the habit of seeking pain or fullness as an indicator of when to stop eating. Stick to the amount recommended by your program. Either way, you are not at risk of having stretched your sleeve. -
Does protein have to come from shakes?
BLERDgirl replied to JohnnysGirl0424's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The point is to get at least 60 - 100 gms of Protein a day. If you can get that through food then you are fine. I would call the nutritionist and speak with her to try and brain storm how this can best be done for you. I would also suggest trying the unflavored Protein powder. By adding it to the foods you are currently eating you may be okay. I also like adding it to Soup or broth. In fact the only way I survived my all liquids phase was 2 Protein shakes and then soup with protein powder in the evening for dinner. I needed that savory break in the evenings. -
@@Dub - IIRC you are also getting in 100 ounces of Water a day no problem which goes back to the point upthread about not getting dehydrated or drinking coffee interfering with your water intake.

I went back on MFP and copied what I had at 2 mths post -op. I was only aiming for 60 gms of Protein at the time. In retrospect the only thing I would change is to increase my protein count. Breakfast Cvs Pharmacy - ¼ cup whey Protein Powder chocolate Maxwell House - Decaf Original Roast coffee Swiss Miss - Classics - Milk Chocolate, 1 envelope Carnation - Evaporated 2% Lowfat Milk Egg (Whole) - Raw, 1 Egg, Large Almond Breeze - Unsweetened vanilla, 0.5 cup Kraft Regular Mayo Tblsp - Kraft Regular Mayo Tblsp, 0.5 Tbsp lunch Orgain Organic Nutritional shake - Iced Cafe Mocha, 11 oz 2 Snack Wonderful - Pistachio, 1.5 oz 130 6 11 5 125 2 dinner *I'm vegetarian, if you are omni, just use chicken breast and real bacon Beyond meat - Chicken-Less Strips, 4 ounces Light Life - Fakin Bacon, 1 strips Spinach - Raw, 0.25 cup Swanson - Vegetable broth, 0.5 cup *I'd add a scoop of unflavored protein powder to this Totals: 844 calories 70 carbs 60 protein and 26 sugar

Surgery Aborted (Please help)...
BLERDgirl replied to SalOdyssey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was warned about this and it was a concern since I started at such a high weight. Additionally my surgeon doesn't impose pre-op diets. I spoke with my nutritionist and figured out a way to increase my Protein but eat very clean and low carb. I continued exercising regularly and made sure to get in plenty of Water. Thankfully my surgery went through with no issues. I think what happens in those cases where they cannot perform the surgery, the patient is placed on a supervised diet and as long as insurance clears it, they try again in 6 mths or whenever the surgeon feels it's safe. -
Eating too much, still hungry, stalled
BLERDgirl replied to maloney731's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow! That is awfully low. You need to get creative and try to at least double that. Add ins, crystal like, infusion bottle. Do whatever it takes. -
I am not trying too be mean or lame. I was trying to be honest. It doesn't matter what my program allowed because you don't have my surgeons. I have an unusual diet and multiple food allergies. Everytime I came across information in my handbook that I had an issue with I made it a point to discuss it with my nutritionist. Every program has different protocols that they go by. I took these into consideration when I was looking into programs before agreeing to the one I choose. If you have questions for them, why not ask them? As for me? Here goes. 1. How about you? (did you get a 6 month moratorium on coffee or something else). No I did not have a 6 mth moratorium. 2. (If you got different guidelines...) Why do you think your advice differed? Because based on my nutritional needs and my body's response to surgery it wasn't necessary. However, if that was a requirement, I would have followed to the letter. Looking back at the initial question: It's a diuretic, it can irritate the stomach and make acid worse, leading to ulcers. These are very good reasons to abstain. In case you missed the point in my initial comment, here it is again. They took these reasons into consideration and decided that the best way to get the optimal success for their patients during that early honeymoon phase would be to disallow coffee for the first 6mths.

I'd go even further with what @@stacyg1 said. I no longer seek that belly tight full feeling. I try to eat until sated. Sometimes that ½ a cup, sometimes a full cup. I no longer feel compelled to eat those last two bites. It's a different feeling and takes a lot of mental work, but I like that I can recognize it now.

WHEY protein shake?
BLERDgirl replied to 1vivacious's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are thousands. You can try doing a search on the site. Newbies ask this question at least once a week. Here's a list of what my program provided me with. The rest is trial and error depending on your tastebuds and pocket book. -
Because that's what your doctor and nutritionist feels works best for all of the reasons listed above. If you trusted this program to perform major surgery on your body and manage your care, listen to them and don't try to find loop holes because it's a food/drink you *really* love. Just suck it up and deal. When you reach goal you'll be beyond happy that your made the sacrifice.

Try thinning out with broth. I like to garnish with diced avocado, diced tomato and a scoop of plain greek yogurt instead of sour cream. It's less fat more Protein. However I agree with @@lauraellen80 you may ant to try it plain first to make sure your tummy can tolerate it. All dressed up it's hard to tell what you are reacting to.

@ - Not everybody adds brown sugar. It's also a nice source of protein and fiber. I like to make steel cut oats in the crock pot. I add raisins or dried cranberries. I also like using RTD protein shake rather than cream. It's a nice pre workout breakfast.

Newbie in research stage
BLERDgirl replied to Anilyn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Not 100% sure how things work with the National Health Care system, but I'm pretty sure it starts with your doctor. Just be prepared to have to try a few things in order to have it documented by your physician. -
Freaking out/ feeling defeated (4 weeks out)
BLERDgirl replied to Lacfish13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Perfectly normal. Weight loss is unfortunately not a linear process. There will be ups, down, stops & stalls.
