At a stand still
BLERDgirl replied to gigglesforyou369's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
30lbs in 9 weeks sounds completely normal. By carbs do you mean all carbs or just breads/pasta/etc... I eat carbs, I just don't eat simple, overprocessed carbs. More importantly I make sure to meet all my Protein and Fluid goals. I keep a Water bottle by the bed and start my day off with a drink. I keep water bottles with my everywhere and drink all day long unless I am eating. -
I didn't have any issues with my sleeve, but when I had my hysterectomy I ended up with a 6 inch deep abscess. The surgeon had to lance and wick it in order for it to heal. I had in home nursing come do a wound change daily. It was yucky, but I followed my doctor's orders and it healed just fine. The worse thing was the reaction to the high doses of anti-biotics I had to be on. Make sure you are eating plenty of yougurt. I would also add a small 2 ounce shot of real cranberry juice like knudson's brand. If you are on antibiotics for more than a week, get a script for diflucan. It's a pain in the rear, but keep it clean and let the meds work. The debridement may be uncomfortable, so I would take an OTC pain med an hour before the appointment.

Is there a medical reason why you can't drink shakes? Have you tried adding unflavored protein powder to you food. What foods are you eating? Can you at last do water therapy or water aerobics for your knees? Google chair exercises or exercise for limited mobility. There are plenty on youtube and even dvds you can buy. -
Please Help...Thinned Cream Soup: What is it?
BLERDgirl replied to ellie123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No you're right. Also any "cream of" soups you would buy premade but thinned down with broth or water. -
@@Kathy812 - not in the crock pot but I've had it made with apple juice. We ate it like that as kids. I also make a breakfast quinoa using apple juice with fruit & nuts.

Depends on what your nutritionist recommends. Mine was 2 wks - All Liquids, 2 wks Purees, 2 wks soft foods and whatever I could tolerate after that. I did a lot combo of vanilla protein powder, kefir, unflavored protein powder, cottage cheese veg broth and greek yogurt. After that it was veg soup, pureed beans, refried beans, hummus added to the mix. On soft foods I also added eggs and finely shredded cheese.

Lower medical costs following WLS

My issues aren't Comorbs. Do I still see the same fees. -
I liked Progresso or Amy's. Campbell's has too many additives for my taste. I also make soup and freeze in single servings.

I like making coffee and hot chocolate using vanilla protein powder or even RTD instead of cream

I was more tired from my hysterectomy, but VSG was a breeze. -
Confused by Soup

No worries. You aren't the first to have this dilemma -
I agree, call your doctor. Typically a PPI is preferred over an ant-acid like tums because they can effect calcium levels.

I bounced back pretty quickly. After a week I was bored and stir crazy. I am also retired so I didn't have a job to keep me occupied. I was taking daily 30 minute walks instead. -
Dumping is rare for sleevers but can happen. However it is not uncommon for people on all liquids to have runny stools. It typically goes away once you progress to solid food. If you don't have any of the other symptoms, then it's likely just runny stools from the diet.

I make my own and use plain greek yogurt to increase the Protein and cut the sweet. During my all liquid phase I did 2 sweet shakes I made in the nutra bullet and then added unflavored Protein Powder into broth for dinner. That savory made made things bearable. I have no problems blending it into hot beverage. You can't add it over direct heat or it will clump. I either add the powder while whisking after it's in the bowl/cup, or I dissolve the powder with a tiny bit of warmer water and then temper the hot liquids into it. Either way it's completely dissolved and smooth every time. Pretty much any store bought smoothie is going to be high in carbs and sugar and low in protein. I'm on there as Milaxx

Confused by Soup
BLERDgirl replied to jobillandjosh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never considered soup a liquid in the sense that NUTs mean. I just considered it a food and treated it as such. -
Peppermint tea with a splash of lemon. Sometimes I even add a bit of unflavored protein powder to it.

People heal at different rates. Some bounce back quickly and others don't. As long as you bloodwork is fine and you are meeting your nutritional needs, just listen to your body and get your rest -
I had one 10 years ago and was diagnosed with insomnia and delayed phase sleep dysphasia. They had me get one for surgery and it wasn't fun. I did get up 3 times to go to the bathroom and that was annoying. The worse part was the floor of the sleep center had this chevron pattern that triggered my vertigo. By the time I walked down the hallway I had to sit down because the world was spinning. The center recommended cpap but I was suspicious because the resident said I had mild sleep apnea. A few days later the attending called and said I was up too much during the night and they didn't get enough info. I explained I sleep on my stomach, have only 1 functioning nostril due to trigeminal neuralgia from facial shingles a few years back and can't wear a face mask because of the neuralgia. She wanted to redo the test. Insurance wouldn't pay for it so she then tried to set me up with a CPAP machine. It wasn't covered by my insurance so I never got it. Anyway I had my surgery and everything worked out fine.

Regardless they still have to provide you with effective and ending dates. My suggestion would be to call them back and ask them to provide you in writing with when the Healthplus policy ended and when BCBS Healthplus went into effect. If they give you grieve, then keep requesting a supervisor until you get to one who will. This may sound petty but make sure you get the name and note the time when you speak to each individual. In the event you need to appeal, this sort of detailed documentation will be invaluable. If you have a wallet card on the back is likely an address where you can write to and request this information as well.

Actually the parts make it easier. It's getting the glue out that's a pain in the butt.

I have bra strap length locs. They are dyed eggplant purple. At my sleep study she thought it was a weave and was just glooping that glue everywhere. Fortunately I had an retwist appointment coming up. I just wiped as much of it out as I could and the loctician got the rest when I was shampooed a few days later.

New and just starting the process! Talk to me lol

Best advice ever! Hello and welcome! I can say without a single doubt this is the best and easiest decision I ever made. I wish I had done this in my 20 or 30's. Instead I had surgery when I was 50 (turned 51 a month later) and my highest weight was 414. -
I had to do a sleep study. It's more an annoyance than anything else. They'll put electrodes on your scalp, face and legs. They also put a nasal canula in your nostrils. Nothing hurts but it's a weird feeling trying to get in the bed with a zillion wires attached to you. You can only sleep on your back or side. You go to sleep, they wake you up in the morning, take all the things off, you shower (bring shampoo that glue is a pain to get out of your hair) and send you home. A few days later they call you in and give you the results. If it's sleep apnea they'll set you up with another appointment to fit you with a cpap machine. Typically the doctor want you to have/be on cpap prior to surgery if indicated.
