    Spanx/spandex Shades of Steel Magnolias

I have a variety of body shapers. One is a slip like piece for under dresses, on is a high waisted pant like piece that comes to the knees, and a few pairs of control underpants. I'm looking to get a few pair of spanx tights for the winter as well. Mine are pretty comfortable, but I'm not one of those women who buy a size smaller. I bought my regular size.

    Cute workout clothes?

Depending on your size Lane Bryant is having a really great sale this weekend. 40% off and free shipping on orders over $100. I lucked out because I have $100 giftcard. I bought a top, bottom and sports bra. It ended up being $54 after the discount was applied. I also like Old Navy
  3. I've heard some people buy baby spoons so they have to take smaller bites. I was told by my nutritionist to chew my food slowly and let it dissolve instead of chewing and swallow like I used to.

    Sleeve with high bmi

@@Miss Mac - I was the same. I didn't want to do the Bypass and reroute my plumbing. I was also told the band was the least successful and many end up having it replaced with the sleeve. I hope everyone does their own homework and decides what works best for them.
  5. I only vomited once and that was in the hospital I was eating ice chips and took in a piece that was too large. I practiced eating slow pre-op and after that ice incident I remember to go slow. Try taking slow, deep breaths.

    Protein Shakes!

I used prosource no carb for the first week since I had that in the hospital. It wasn't bad but it's really thick and viscus. However if you mix it with herbal tea or Water, it's wasn't bad. I tried several different types before surgery. I ended up doing a mix of the prosource, premixed orgain organics & CVS brand whey powder mixed with almond milk or sometimes greek yogurt. I strongly recommend getting a few single serving sample packs of a variety of different ones and trying them out to see which ones you like before committing.

    I used almond butter.

    Lump under one incision

I have that on the one where my drain was located. It's just scar tissue which isn't a surprise since I tend to keloid.

    New to fifties group

Hello all! I am 51 and nearly overlooked this forum because I forget I am over 50! I remember when I thought 50 was old. Anyway I didn't have to lose weight presurgery and my doctor submitted the authorization request to my insurance company. I'm 6 weeks post op and so far so good.
  11. Surgery was on 9/18 and so far I've lost 32lbs

    IVC FILTER

You're correct, I misspoke and will edit. It catches them. I didn't want to do blood thinners because I don't take blood transfusions. I don't have a history of blood clots and my veins were clear pre-surgery so it really was just a precaution for me. I'm scheduled to have it removed soon. The doctor wanted to wait until after my 6 week post op.

questions for my plant based friends

Vega has stevia in it and I'm allergic to stevia. I found 2 that work for me. CVS whey powder and Orgain organic protein drinks.

    Advise please

I don't plain to do the corset training but I'm going to use compression garments. I just ordered some pants and a top. I have a colleague who lost close to 200 non surgically and she said when it started coming off that's what she did. I'm six weeks out and feeling great. I'm hoping if I start early I can avoid needing skin removal surgery.
  15. I don't even have clots and my surgeon recommended it. He said it was a good precaution. If you have a history of clots I would definitely take it. It's a fast and painless procedure.

    IVC FILTER

The filter basically will catch them before they can cause any problems. Mine was put in the day before my surgery. I was put to sleep for it, but I was in and out the same day. I just had my 6 week check up and now have to make an appointment to have it removed. No pain, just a mild bit of cramping when the anesthesia wore off. What is this?? How is it put in? Are you put to sleep or what?
  17. I was 414. The only special thing I did was a modified pre-op diet. I reduced my calories & increased my Protein the first week, the second week I did one meal a day and then yogurt or a Protein shake the rest of the day. My surgery was done laproscopically and I had no problems, no pain and no gas. I was up and walking in recovery. Spent 2 days in the hospital.
  18. I used 3 Protein shakes; Prosource no carb liquid Protein, CVS whey powder and Orgains organic Protein Drink. It was hard shopping around because I am allergic to food dyes and stevia. I had to search for products that did not contain these. Other than that I eat eggs, cheese, a variety of Beans, hummus, nut butters, keifer and greek yogurt. I buy the 0% plain FAGE. Occasionally I add in fresh, unsweetened fruit. I use the nutra bullet to grind the fruit up or add to a smoothie. I also eat lots of spinach.

    Sleevers over 300lbs?

I was sleeved at 414 and I'm the same height as you. My surgeon did mine laparoscopically. Surgey was a breeze. The biggest problem I had was finding a vein for my IV day of surgery. Other than that no problems. I was up and walking in recovery and didn't need the pain pump or have gas pain.

    Sleevers over 300lbs?

    I started at 414, 6 weeks out I'm at 382.
  21. Sleeved on the 18th. My surgery was done laproscopically and I had minimal pain. In fact I was up and walking in recovery. No issue with gas either. In the hospital 2 days and discharged home with a visiting nurse. Nurse was discharged after my 2 week follow up.

what to take to the hospital?

I brought my iPad & charger, a toothbrush and a pair of extra large panties to wear home. My hospital stay was very pleasant. I had a private room and my gown was more than large enough for privacy. The hospital provided slippers and a duffle bag to carry my belongings in. I wore a loose fitting maxi dress to the hospital and wore the same thing home. I didn't have any problems with gas and had minimal pain. I didn't use the pain pump or need anything for gas.

    Sleeve with high bmi

As far as I know the biggest difference between the sleeve & bypass is that with the sleeve the weight loss is slower. Of course the surgeries are different, but outcome wise the major difference is the rate of expected loss.
  24. I use MFP and had been using it prior to surgery. For women it's 1000 - 1200 recommended calories. Since I'm only 6 weeks post op it has a fit pretty regularly. I just ignore it but I do close out each days diary.

Stevia - do you love it or hate it?

I don't mind the taste of stevia in the raw. It has less additives in it than truvia. I was using pure stevia herb, however I can't have either as I discovered I am allergic to it. It's hard finding foods that don't have it these days.
