You work up to it. So far it sound like you're doing the right thing by listening to your body and stopping when you are full.

Wearing a medical bracelet after bypass surgery
BLERDgirl replied to catdaddy's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I worded that poorly. The bracelet occasionally falls off. I was wondering if I should get the interchangeable or a regular bracelet. -
Anyone get/getting sleeved that is over 400#
BLERDgirl replied to JennsinCA's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it depends more on your overall health than your weight. I have health issues, but they aren't co-morbidities related to my weight. My BP was normal, no vein blockage or circulation issues, no cardiac issues or hernias. I was already exercising regularly. I went in at 412lbs and from what I've read on these forums, I had an easier time than some who were half my weight. My doctor took every precaution to make sure my surgery was as safe and successful as it could be. So far it's been easy for me. -

Wearing a medical bracelet after bypass surgery
BLERDgirl replied to catdaddy's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
How does this hold up? I was thinking of getting a new one because my current one has such a small caduceus symbol and it occasional falls off. I have the same lobster catch on my current. I don't want to spent money and still have to worry about losing the bracelet. -

Wearing a medical bracelet after bypass surgery

I already wear a medical alert because of severe allergies. I have so many there's no room to add anything else. I've been looking at the wearable usb instead. -

Have you considered attending Overeaters Anonymous? I don't understand why you would have gone back to your old essaying habits and it sounds like you don't either. My advice would be to seek out some sort of counseling . -
Buy a winter coat. Just don't spent a lot. If you can thrift or catch a sale even better, but you need a coat. If it's too big next year you can sell it on eBay or donate it.

BLERDgirl replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions

@@Kindle is right. The scale will drive you crazy. Especially this soon after surgery that "weight gain" could be the transition to soft food, Water weight, normal body fluctuations that come with being a female. Eat your Protein, drink your water and get your exercise. It will happen.

Vegetarian/vegan sleevers?
BLERDgirl replied to Aribay1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you eat fish you are pescatarian. Fish is not a vegetable. -
For me I have to focus on getting in the Protein. My nutritionist also did indeed advise staying close to 800 calories, but the key is protein and Water. If you are sure you are getting in the protein, try tracking it. Even if you don't use and app like Myfitnesspal, make note of how much protein you get in. I only weigh myself when I go to the doctor so I may have had a 3 week stall and was unaware. I was weighed day of surgery, at my 2 week post op and at my 6 week follow up. I was down 26lbs at 2 weeks and another 6lbs at 6weeks. I won't get weighed again until I go back to the doctor next month.

Social struggles of eating very little and so slow
BLERDgirl replied to Iowa_summergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's a new mind set. I've never been particularly self conscious about anything so I never worried about someone watching how or what I was eating. I just have in my mind what I need to do. Went out to eat Saturday. I was shopping with my sister and we were out longer than I planned. I needed to eat or get sick. We went to iHop, I ordered a garden vegetable omelet and got fruit as my side. I ate maybe a third of the omelet. Got the rest to go and had another 2 meals plus one snack on the doggy bag. -
Is it better to eat your protein or drink your protein?
BLERDgirl replied to tamg26k's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I don't know if it makes a difference. I'll put it on my list to ask. I've always done and AM shake because I can;t eat and workout and I go to water aerobics in the morning. Also I'm not a morning person and sometimes find food first thing in the morning nauseating. -
I only eat cheese, yogurt and eggs that are non-vegan now. There are some alternatives I want to explore but since I need the protein right now it's on hold. Once I am able to fully explore eating as a vegan, I'll make my decision.

I can't say for sure. You should call your nutritionist and review what you are eating. many have posted increasing their protein and Water has helped them lose. I know for me it's 3 things: protein, water and exercise.

What do you eat on a normal day? Im worried :s
BLERDgirl replied to yescobar's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My doctor still wants me around 800 calories. I agree that is a lot of carbs. I would ditch the WW muffins, the pita, and the processed Subway lunch. I'd also swap fresh fish for the fish sticks. I am 2 months post op and can easily eat 1100 calories a day. It worries me that I can eat as much as I can. I try really hard to concentrate on getting my Protein and fluids in every day and usually I do not have a problem with it. I feel like I am failing and I struggle to not be depressed about it. I read about others who can barely eat and that just makes me feel worse. I'm eating healthier than I ever have before but I still struggle to stay away from carbs. If I have a protein shake for a meal it is like I haven't consumed anything and am still hungry. I've lost approximately 30 to 35 pounds but most of that was in the first month since then I have stalled. I also have problems with constipation ever since the surgery. I dread going to the doctor and hearing what they have to say. Today I had: Breakfast: scrambled egg with cheese in flax seed & wheat pita pocket Snack: homemade weight watchers muffin Lunch: Subway kids meal - ham, provolene on wheat with apple slices Snack: slice of swiss cheese on crackers Dinner: 2 fish sticks, half acorn squash, 1/2 c. broc. cheese rice Snack: slice of swiss cheese on crackers Here's my food for the day. This is my first time having mac and cheese since my surgery. For me this is a heavy carb day as I try to keep my carbs around 40-45gms. It's also my rest day from the gym as I do housework and generally chill on Monday's. You might want to check with your nutritionist or medical team as to where you should be nutrition wise. Breakfast Almond Breeze - Unsweetened vanilla, 0.5 cup Cvs Pharmacy - Whey Protein powder chocolate, 0.15 scoop Maxwell House - Decaf Original Roast coffee, 2 fl. oz. Swiss Miss - Classics - Milk Chocolate, 1 envelope (21g) Carnation - Evaporated 2% Lowfat Milk, 1 tbl (30 ml) Sabras - Hummus, 4 Tablespoons Lunch Fage (Greece) 0% - Nonfat Yogurt, 6 oz pineapple - Chunks, 1/2 cup Snack Almond Breeze - Unsweetened Vanilla, 1 cup Cvs Pharmacy - Whey Protein Powder Chocolate, 0.5 scoop Snack String Cheese - Natural String Cheese, 1 stick (28 gr) dinner Annie's - Organic Shells & White Cheddar, 1 cup prepared Totals 892 calories 108 carbs 26 fat 60 protein 1563 sodium 39 sugar -

Mindless eating and daily no no's ...
BLERDgirl replied to ChristyAZ's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Plan for it. I'll admit PB is not a weakness for me. I tend to buy almond or cashew butter. However I will allow myself one tbsp of it. Added to vanilla Protein powder and blended in my nutra bullet it is heavenly. It's god protein, healthy fats and lots of that nutty taste I like. -
Wish I had that revulsion to food but I don't. Help!
BLERDgirl replied to llmccay1's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just posted this in another thread but it mostly applies. PLAN. FOR. IT. Most of us are food addicts. We have no self control when it comes to food. We will under estimate what we ate and then be surprised when the weight gain happens. I strongly advocate keeping a food diary. It's not to obsess over calories and how low we can keep then and stay healthy. It's to keep ourselves accountable. I use myfitnesspal. I have it set to also include carbs, sodium, fat and sugar. There is a maximun level of carbs, fat and sugar that works for me, so I monitor that. I used to have a problem with my feet and legs swelling so I monitor my sodium levels. I fill out my diary in the morning and add or subtract in the evenings according to what I actually ate. They also have an app for on the go changes. I do not allow anything in my house that I cannot eat without bingeing. I don't care is it's Suzie's favorite thing. It's not allowed because I am an addict and have no self control. If you have family members who miss their favorite food, tell them to buy a single serving portion and eat it. Sabotaging foods are not allowed in the cabinets. If you were an alcoholic would they insist on keeping that 6 pack in the house? EXERCISE - I don't care if it's taking a 30 minute walk each day or Leslie walk away the pounds DVDs. Commit to something on a regular basis.
